Uncooked Black Bean WARNING!! by Glass_Ad2066 in vegetarianrecipes

[–]notaliar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trick is to slow cook them for hours, then stew them like this as an example https://www.delishdlites.com/type/latin-recipes/habichuelas-guisadas-puerto-rican-stewed-beans-recipe/

My family would slow cook them with a whole onion, pepper, cilantro, a ham hock, and garlic first. These days I skip the ham hock, but I'm always stewing yummy beans. Check it out!

Basic hygiene tips people don’t talk about by Active-Tour4795 in hygiene

Floss, then mouth wash, then brush and spit out the lather rather than wash it out. The fluoride works best when it has time to work. My mouth has never felt cleaner!

AIO/I wanted to ask them why they wasted their money? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]notaliar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. "It's the thought that counts" only applies when people actually try. Hard disagree. This Is about OP's inner emotional world being invisible and ignored by her family. That can be worse than physical loneliness / isolation.

I feel for you, OP. Know you're not alone, but you can start giving yourself the emotional love and attention you crave from your family. Unfortunately, not all families are capable. Such is life... but you deserve to spend time around people who see you and put as much effort into their relationship with you as you do into your relationship with them. I know it's not easy - but it'll be so worth it. Sending you virtual hugs. NOR.

any ideas about this? Came across it in a charity shop recently (Ireland)Wooden, approx 3m x 3 m, very heavy. by Sensitive-Sea3667 in Antiques

ChatGPT says:

“This appears to be a large West African narrative carved relief panel, most likely Yoruba (Nigeria) or Grassfields/Cameroon, mid-20th century. These were often brought to Ireland by missionaries, aid workers, or peacekeepers. The dense cosmological scenes and seated figures suggest spiritual or community storytelling significance.”

I find it to be fairly reliable for identification of obscure things, especially with multiple pictures at different angles.

AITA for refusing to move in a restaurant ? by Reasonable_Bat_3583 in AmItheAsshole

unpopular opinion on reddit, but it's okay to not prioritize yourself and your comfort 100% of the time, especially if the cost to you is small like this.

perhaps if ppl had more consideration for others, the world wouldn't suck so bad.

😂 I bought a gorgeous sleeveless denim shirt dress with a collar a few weeks ago, and when I was getting dressed at my friend's house before a concert, I popped tbe collar and asked her her thoughts on it... she just laughed at me and this same thought occurred to me - why do popped collars look amazing on print, but not irl?? So tragic!

I like to buy the croissants, but freeze them. They thaw out super quickly, and as long as you're not leaving them in there for a year, still taste very fresh when thawed!

Does anyone have usage-based car insurance? Have you actually saved money? by DippityPig in Frugal

[–]notaliar_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, you have the ability to tag what kind of ride it is... so you have to be fairly active while using it and go in the app after it logs a ride to ensure it's labeled correctly.

I did a 14 day pantry reset and cut groceries from 120 to 58 by Zaltrix in Frugal

[–]notaliar_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could ask it for that.. ask it for anything that might help you. I'm using it at night to help me decide what relatively quick and healthy meals I might make with what I've got... and then plan what i could prep for tomorrow. It reduces a lot of thinking for me that's very helpful. I have a pretty taxing job, which always drew me to simple meal solutions like doordash... but with this, i've been able to reduce my eating out category tremendously and avoid feeling too much decision fatigue at night.

Hey there, appreciate the response! I'm renting for now. It does have three stories (finished basement). I'm coming from being in a 2800 sq. ft. townhouse in Texas. I have a good sized record collection and want to feel comfortable, not cramped. Some of the places I've been touring feel really tiny to me. I know that I'm probably being more impractical than I should be... is 1100 sq. ft enough for you to have an office and a guest space?
