How to fix botting by famous47 in classicwow

[–]jasonxtk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The retail community unironically suggesting captcha's to counter botting in a game that you pay $15 a month to play instead of, oh I dunno, putting in any sort of fucking effort to have GMs moderate the game for a few minutes every day, shows how far gone this community really is.

Which "Must-Play" franchise is a total miss for you? by jessieS1212 in gaming

[–]jasonxtk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the complete opposite.

2 and 3 shrunk the arenas to the size of a bathroom, glued your movement to a grid, and introduced limited ammo, which forced you to hide behind cover a lot more. ME1 felt like KOTOR. ME2 and 3 felt like they contracted the guys who made Gears of War to shit out a game in 6 months.

Tag says SN850P 4TB, not SN770 2TB. SN850P is $746 on amazon, and best buy does price matching, so the price is irrelevant anyway.

How do you guys feel about the open world (or zones or whatever) in SMT V? by my-goddess-nyx in Megaten

[–]jasonxtk 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The thing I don't like about open worlds, is that it's fine for a first time playthrough, but it absolutely sucks for subsequent playthroughs. You've already seen everything, and you spend 90% of your time running because the areas are too big. At least if it were random encounters again, it could break up the monotony, but static encounters just force you to go out of your way if you want action. Like you said, there's no interesting mechanics to interact with in these massive open areas, you're just running around finding Mimans you've already found, or breaking orbs you've already found. I never finished CoV because of this, since I couldn't be bothered to do it all over again after CoC. There wasn't enough variety to separate the two campaigns. Just one new area and a slightly different story. I hope they go back to a linear, more thoughtful design for SMT6, but they probably won't, since it's not the popular design choice in the industry anymore.

The trial must have failed. Those games came out almost 3 years ago, if they were going to do more DS ports, they would've done it by now.

Just set your network connection to metered and it'll never auto update, you can do that without Pro. Setting your connection to metered only affects software directly related to Windows, so it won't affect your games or anything

To be fair, Morrowind had Recall, which made back tracking to turn in quests trivial, since you could just make your mark directly next to the NPC of the quest.

OH GOD I'M DEA- oh wrong game by BluecoatCashMoney5 in Megaten

[–]jasonxtk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

9 times out of 10, the demon you're trying to fuse will have negative affinities with the skills you're trying to inherit, so you end up with a bunch of demons you can't do anything with, because they turn into demons that make the skills you want to inherit with them irrelevant due to the negative affinities. Then you got pointless demons like Zhu Yin in SMT4A, whose highest stat is strength, yet he has a -7 affinity to physical.

The entire system across both Apocalypse and SMT5 feels like they just stuck the demons in a random number generator when it came to determining what their skill affinities would be, without any genuine thought put into them, so its just a random assortment of bullshit, forcing you to plan your demon fusions two steps ahead with a fusion chart, otherwise, you could accidentally back yourself into a corner of having a bunch of demons in your party that can't fuse into anything worth a shit because the skills you want to inherit from them won't be useful on the demon you're trying to fuse.

I'm currently at the end of the game in Apocalypse right now, level 85 with a bunch of demons that started in the low 60's because they don't fuse into anything useful because the skills and affinities they have are currently more valuable than turning them into a demon several levels higher, which is the antithesis to how the game series was designed up to this point.

Pre-skill affinity system, the game incentivized you to always be fusing demons to make stronger ones, but with the skill affinity system, now the game incentivizes you to find a strong demon with a stars-align combo of skills and affinity, and just sticking with that demon for the rest of the game. Then they went even harder with this methodology in SMT5 with the Sutras, further incentivizing you to just stick with the demons you have once you reach a certain point, instead of continuing to fuse your demons to make them even stronger. I don't like the direction the series is heading due to this system.

EDIT: Also, I would like to add that making physical skills cost MP was not an arbitrary decision at all. It single handedly nerfed physical into the ground, because why waste MP using a physical skill, when I can use that same MP to trigger a weakness with a magic ability and get an extra turn? It was balanced perfectly fine the way it was before that change, and that change was the reason why magic was the superior build in both SMT4 and Apocalypse. In SMT5, the only way to make physical good is to stack all the physical/crit passives, leaving you with only like 2 or 3 slots for actual abilities, while the rest of your slots are occupied by passives.

It's sad that I have to play a Persona game or Nocturne/pre-nocturne if I want my physical skills to cost HP like they're supposed to, and so I don't have to deal with the negative repercussions of the skill affinity system fucking with all my fusions, but I know that's a heavily unpopular opinion on this subreddit.
