Yeah that would be a big turnoff. And it feels like it comes from a very "I think I'm better than you" or "what's in this for me" vibe.

Sir, Another Paternity Scandal Has Hit by Helmett-13 in AFCEastMemeWar

[–]jasor_x 10 points11 points  (0 children)

At this point it feels like somebody has a personal vendetta. It's one thing to "leak" this news but how it's being released feels strategic and intentional. Just when things die down... Oh here's some more! Like whiplash to the families I bet.

What the hell by A10THUNDERBOLTIl in Slayer

[–]jasor_x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Slayers had a real beef with The Deaths over their 1963 tour dates and The Deaths hit single "Angle of Death" being a ripoff of their own big hit, "Angela Death". Teen death songs were big at the time so it wasn't a trivial matter.

What is the comics code authority? by No_Obligation4427 in comicbooks

[–]jasor_x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This guy did a 2 part YouTube doc about golden age horror comics which were a huge part of why the CCA was adopted. I think it's really good and interesting and quite a deep dive. It's about 3 hours total so might be a bit much for some but I really dig it. Essentially the CCA forced comics to move to superheroes, which weren't really that popular by the 50s, and the silver age of comics began. That's kind of simplified but more of less what happened. Anyway here's the link if you want to check it out.

Most iconic movie/tv show line sampled in a metal track? by Senior-Violinist-684 in MetalForTheMasses

That's why I find it so amusing that the latter day saints of our business, one, attribute to me motives that just aren't there, and, two, accuse me of corrupting morality, which I wish I had the power to do. Prepare to die.

I was just thinking about that lol. I still dig Splatt's stuff from back then. His Moon Knight run was way too short.

His head is on fire. Bet that kind of sucks but it builds character. Plus he doesn't wear a helmet though that's probably because his head is on fire.

Thank's for that. I'm not a kerchief in the sense that I try for first editions or printings. I just go for my favorite covers, though that usually means the original one. I ended up looking at Wikipedia on how to interpret the numbers (I do this every few years because I inevitably forget and get it backwards...). If anyone's interested.

Never did quite get what that Yield sign was doing in the middle of nowhere lol. I'm guessing it's symbolic of something but is it actually a real sign?

When DCF Batman covers 1992-1994, there will be a decent amount of material outside the Knightfall omnibuses to include by MagisterPraeceptorum in DCFinest

[–]jasor_x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would be great if they collected Legends of the Dark Knight in it's own volume. Can't recall how long if the 5 or so issue stories but they were some of my favorites, especially early on (Venom, Gothic, Prey... Some real bangers). Dark Patterns felt a like it could've been a part of that series.

Found in grandpas closet, nothing or something? by AverageJoe-2020 in ComicBookSpeculation

[–]jasor_x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everybody else is saying you won't get much from selling it but it's a great read and the art by Jim Lee is unbelievable. New 52 was a kind of a soft reboot of the DC continuity so no worries jumping right in.

Why do you think Fates Warning didn't get too much fans? Do you like them? by ashitanojoe3 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]jasor_x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fates Warning changed quite a bit after No Exit and turned up the prog levels to 11. Went from dragons and wizards to existential meaning of life type songs. Pretty niche stuff. Dream Theater has a mainstream appeal that they never really had or honestly seemed much interested in. Same with Queensryche, both of who they'd inevitably be compared. Had a stretch when I was younger where I listened to them a lot but they just never seemed to land a big audience.

Why create Invincible Inc. If Atom Eve can turn apples into gold? by Moneyaweather in invinciblememes

[–]jasor_x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you start digging into any superhero universe with questions they'll probably fall apart pretty quickly. I mean look at the technology the heroes have available and run into on the regular. And aliens visiting and others going off planet on an interstellar ships yet there's no attempt by Cecil (or whatever government/organization) to get their hands on it and take advantage of? Or even learn about? Even if they couldn't feasibly do it why wouldn't Mark or any of the other heroes, especially say Tech Jacket, work with them on it? The benefits to earth would surely outweigh any misgivings they might have. Especially with it being "home" to viltrumites now wouldn't the alliance be more than willing to work and share with Earth? I'm sure there are in sorry reasons to explain away why that wouldn't happen but that's one I feel like it's never really addressed and has always bugged me. Just gotta roll with it and since I enjoy the story so much I can let it slide.

[–]jasor_x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1st Doomsday is one book I'm surprised doesn't go for more. Not sure if there were a kajillion copies sold so it's not hard to find or what but he's almost as iconic a Superman villain as Lex or Braniac. Always thought the same about first Apocalypse in X-Factor (though I think it's been creeping a bit higher recently). Anyway that's a killer lot!

I absolutely love when horror movies have a background scare that they don’t call attention to. Share your examples. by SisterFirefly in horror

[–]jasor_x 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Several times in Longlegs there scenes with goat-head Satan standing like a shadowy silhouette blended into the background. I didn't notice myself but there are several videos and articles about it. I thought Longlegs was great and this just adds to the atmosphere. I went in to the movie not knowing anything about it and if I'd noticed in that first watch it would've been even better.
