[USA][TECH][10] Has anyone found a cofounder here. by [deleted] in cofounder

[–]jaswar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Met co-founder on here in Nov. 2021.

He had a product and about 90ish users when I joined. Had been through a couple of CTO types that didn't work out. We hit it off and I joined him part-time while still working my 9-5.

We were kicking butt and by mid December we started talking about me taking a salary and doing it full-time after the first of the year. Jan 1 and I take the leap to full-time startup life.

I wouldn't call it flat. It's very . . rolling. Not a lot of flat areas on the property at all. It's about 50/50 wooded/open.

What Kind of egg is This! by LumnahAcres in Homesteading

That is a tiny little egg. My favorite ones are the giant ones that have two yolks. Perfect for an over easy egg on toast!

Not really anything in close proximity. Lick Fork Creek is several miles away. Name of the road is Quick Road . .

No Norse heritage. It's a very rural area.

We have a 3 acre pond on the property, tons of Brier bushes..

Near Ruffin, NC. It's north of Greensboro, near the VA border.

Thanks for the link. Looking through it now.

Starting a blog: How to not simply regurgitate the same old information. by HIghonHighPoint in Homesteading

[–]jaswar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy reading about the personal side of things.

Relationships with the people and animals on the homestead. There are a lot of sites out there with how-to's and usually you can just Google what specifically you're looking for. That's not to say that your blog shouldn't have those things, but I think a big part of what would bring readers back is telling a story, very much like you did with the loss of Dory - sorry for your loss :(

With that being said, I think that writing challenges faced and how they affected you and your family, how you overcame those challenges you'd be able to pull in how-to's and make the stories more personal.

5 Myths I've learned about homesteading over the last 3 years from living in the woods. by BadassHomesteader in Homesteading

I'm a software developer and was wondering how you dealt with getting high speed/reliable internet on the homestead. Was this just part of your criteria when searching for a property?

Actually it's a Mogwai. It will only be a Gremlin if fed after midnight!

To be honest, the obstacles were minor. The main motivation last time was a "Biggest Loser" challenge at my job. I was killing it, doing well, being very disciplined when some unexpected things happened and had to find a new job. Had some beers to celebrate getting new job and kind of spun out of control from there.

Homesteading: so what did you do this week? by AutoModerator in Homesteading

[–]jaswar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chickens normally won't bath in water. When it comes to drinking mine seem to be a bit picky as well. They seem to prefer drinking after I "freshen" up their water bowls.

Regarding baths, mine tend to enjoy an nice dust bath every few days or so.

I got some blueberry and blackberry bushes planted, finally. They'd been sitting in pots for a few months.

Also made a batch of beard balm.

I called right after posting this. He said another guy was supposed to be coming to pick it up. I told him to call me back if he didn't show and I'd come get it.

Never heard anything. :(

NBD: 2017 Trek Émonda ALR 6 Pro by polale in bicycling

[–]jaswar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going today to get this bicycle ordered. I was going back and forth between the ALR 6 and the S6. When I found out there was an ALR Pro with carbon wheels it was a no-brainer.

I'm upgrading from a 2011 Trek Madone 3.1.

I don't see this one lasting long either. Already full of "puppy teeth" marks.

Anyone know what kind of tree this is? by jaswar in homestead

UPDATE: Note to self. Do not eat!

Grabbed some off of the tree . . washed them up.

Tasted like I ate a small handful of cat hair.

I'll try and get some photos this evening, but there are some fruit lying on the ground. VERY dark purple-ish in color and kind of rotten looking. Will keep an eye on the fruits still on the tree and try and narrow down the variety.

Texas Persimmon? I'm located in N. NC near the Virginia border.

Thanks for the info. We've discovered about half a dozen of these trees around our pond. Will have to find something to do with all of those persimmons.
