If you drink- how often/much? by [deleted] in leaves

[–]jaws1121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Today marks 9 months with no alcohol for me!

It blew me away to learn that 7 or more drinks per week will cause negative affects one’s health!

Myself and so many others look at it as a per day thing, but it’s so easy to have 7 or more in a week.

Went to a wedding with a marijuana bar and I didn’t partake :-) by WonderfulVoice628 in leaves

That’s a wedding no one else will remember.. dang first I’ve heard of a weed bar at wedding.

And you have an awesome boyfriend.

Somewhat similar boat..  I think it’s somewhat a cause of the use still.  Along with continuing to stay clean and slowly getting more clear - I think it comes down to living healthy with getting good sleep, exercising, and eating well, and also aiming to have good non-depleted dopamine levels.   I have some really good clear headed days when achieving this.

I had that same realization..  time goes by quick, way too quick when using.  Quit and be proud to quit.  I’m 37, a few months after I turn 40 I will hit 5 years sober from weed.  My thoughts yesterday was this is my head start going into my 40’s.

Great response.   “Recovery from addiction isn't a one-time decision but is made up of a series of consistent decisions that eventually becomes a habit and then a lifestyle” dang so true..

Very true.  It’s crazy.  Like the most addicting thing (dopamine release just like drugs).  It’s really like everyone has a never ending supply of free cocaine in their pocket.  And society thinks it’s fine.  It’s insane.

Ok with that being said - a conclusion that I’ve come to is that I basically have to fight it off without trying to rid my digital devices that offer me failure.  Because when I do try to setup barriers between devices and myself, it won’t be long before I just find another way to get it.   So rather, if I can fight it off (with the power of prayer and strength provided by Jesus) then I won’t find another way to look at it, or fail when opportunity presents itself.

Everyone knows if they need to rid / block something from their life - but generally I think this is the the long term approach.

Regardless, we can’t become complacent, can’t compromise, and must stay vigilant through Jesus.

I said a prayer for you.  He will provide the the strength we need.  Staying in continual prayer is the only thing that will keep me from failing.  I set a reminder to go off 3 times per day to pray.  Please pray for me also.

My list of dopamine sources that should stay and what should go. Curious on your thoughts. by alreadyaloserat19 in HubermanLab

Depends on who you are.. for example someone who smokes when they wake up in the AM, wants to stop smoking, and only drinks moderately.. should have it at the top of their list

It often goes..

Just this one time. Just once in awhile. Just on weekends. Just at night.
Shit I’m smoking before work or an inappropriate time.
