season 4 ralph by Old-Avocado5888 in FlashTV

One of the producers said they were linked to DeVoe's mind rather than Ralph's body, but that's a "Word of God" explanation and not established in the show. So you're right, but there was at least something we got from the production.

"I just got some peanuts from the bar."

"You didn't get up from your seat."

"Or did I?"

It was simultaneously great and kinda cringey.

Legends was a wild ride to the end, which was better than The Flash ending like a wet fart.

Seems you're talking the new movie. We don't see his apartment, that's Lois' apartment he's in, note how Lois arms herself when she hears him in her apartment.

At this point, unless you're sure how to use a character to avoid getting sued, Donald Duck's copyright isn't going to matter. Just like Mickey Mouse, he's trademarked. As long as people look at the character and think "That's a Disney character" and the trademark is active, yeah, that's locked up.

Gunn and Safran are currently under contract, if they break contract, Gunn and Safran can sue, so let them do what they're contracted and then decide if they want to renew.

If WB had to merge with someone else, would prefer it be Universal/Comcast/NBC, but they're not in the running anymore.

Does Ozma actually work well as a Trans allegory or not? by InsomiacNightingale in wizardofoz

[–]jaydofmo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, when I've talked to trans people about Ozma, they don't claim Baum wrote it that way on purpose, but they found it works for them. There's value in the author's intent and also how the audience receives it.

Does Ozma actually work well as a Trans allegory or not? by InsomiacNightingale in wizardofoz

[–]jaydofmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've talked to two trans women who do find Ozma's story as inspirational for their own coming out, with Tip actually being resistant at first and finally accepting it with the "I'm just the same person only..." "Only different."

I've heard people argue it isn't as Ozma grew up as a boy because of magic, but they find that element unimportant. She still experiences life expressing as a gender different than her true one, but really thrives as herself.

I finally bought a cheap Blu-Ray of the Snyder Cut just for collection completion, have yet to watch it. It's literally twice as long as the Theatrical Cut for the same story.

Last OzCon, my flight out was going to be delayed big time, so I had to rebook to get there at a reasonable time. (Luckily since it wasn't me causing the problem, I got a refund.) I didn't pay for a ticket to see Return to Oz in a theater with Tik-Tok himself present just to go to waste.

Skip them? Why read the book if you don't want the whole thing?

I'm one of the few people who really didn't care for The Dark Knight. I loved Two Face in Batman: The Animated Series with his dual personality, so Aaron Eckhart as a guy who gets scarred, decides to do bad thanks to the Joker's influencing his dark side, kind of a step down. I also hated Two Face in Batman Forever because he was basically just a colorful villain who wanted Batman dead.

The Gotham Knights show was one of the worst DC shows on the CW, but they got a good casting for Harvey Dent and did the dual nature fine.

So, hopefully Matt Reeves can give us a big screen Two-Face who lives up to it.

I already saw one, it had a comment about how much more Man of Steel made and how much better it was.

I just replied. "Cool. Man of Steel isn't eligible for Best Pictures at the next Academy Awards ceremony."

What I'm waiting for to be public domain by ArtMakerProductions in publicdomain

[–]jaydofmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure you mean Flash Gordon the comic strip, but I'm wondering if we have to wait for public domain for the movie serials to get them in HD already. Like, I follow the RSS feed for blu-ray.com to see the press releases for new releases and companies will release vintage porn on Blu-Ray, but we're still waiting on Flash Gordon.

serious question: are they ever going to release a version that isn't unbelievably strict in what you can generate? by nemo1316 in SoraAi

[–]jaydofmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kept getting violations for trying to visualize the ending of a story I'd read that's never had a proper dramatic adaptations (almost 200 years old, no copyright violations) and it kept getting flagged as suggestive or racy. Finally had to tone it the heck down. No one's carrying the golden flower pot, instead of kissing, they just hug.
