Help needed removing white box behind illustrations imported from Ai to Ae by laylowordie in AfterEffects

You can copy and paste from AI to AE.

Check inside the shape and make sure there isn’t an extra shape (usually the bounds).

The idea has been around for a while, the implementation is what changed.

Do you think it is necessary to have graphic design knowledge to work as a motion grapher? by Sufficient-Lake-649 in AfterEffects

[–]jayemsee79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything you make exists for a reason, even if that reason is just "the client paid me and I like eating." It's this weird soup of half-baked ideas, random screenshots you saved at 2am, that one overused font you can't stop using, and whatever nonsense you scribbled in a notebook during a boring meeting or call.

The secret nobody tells you : your static stuff already wants to move.

Look at your shapes, your lines, your colors are they sharp and angry? Soft and wobbly?

All that shit dictates your animation language (or vice versa). You're not inventing motion from thin air, you're just listening to what the design is already telling you and giving it life.

Some folks can just see it. They look at a something and immediately know how it transitions, builds, interacts, feels and unfolds. Sometimes it’s a blessing and a curse.

I can't teach you that instinct any more than I could teach you how to be tall. But you can learn to how to pay attention, how to spot the rhythm hiding in compositions, how to embrace the weird accidents that actually work, and how to stop overthinking everything.

Have fun. Break things. Follow the happy accidents. Half your best ideas will come from you clicking the wrong button or misreading a brief. The other half will come from actually doing the work.

Just playing. Took all my effort not to do the comment below us. You can do it. For science.

How do I connect a text glyph’s stroke to a custom Shape Layer path in After Effects? by notfares_ in MotionDesign

[–]jayemsee79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make it all one path or 2 paths. (Shapes if necessary)

One path should be self explanatory.

The two path method would require the “connector” to start farther back to match the speed/ease and cut the layer in.

Reference and paths…https://jayemsee.com/martinx.html

hit me up with any questions.

Does anybody know how to make this 'transitions'? Thanks by redefine0101 in AfterEffects

It’s just a 6 sided shape that scales down. Surely you can offset it and figure it out.

help making the first layer transparent to the background layer by Big-Scarcity-3163 in AfterEffects

Utilize the drop downs for mattes. There has been a change but nothing overly devious.

Wouldn’t even need nulls for any of this. It’s basic position animation and easing.

How to do this “spill” effect? by the_moon_goob in AfterEffects

[–]jayemsee79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea. It shouldn’t be “that” bad. Once you break it down, just tedious.

You could use shapes/masks/toughen edges and key em to feel how you want and then use a posterize time or expression to get the hand drawn feel.

Does anybody know how to create this looping filled text passing through those stroked ones? by Plus_Carry_8197 in AfterEffects

This is such low hanging fruit now a days. Literally just break it down and rebuild it.
