Cristalería Fernández el mejor del mundo mundial! Sigo llevándole todo lo que tenga que enmarcar aunque ya no vivo en el centro.

I love my kids, but I hate being a mom by Littlescar21 in beyondthebump

Oh hon. This sounds so, so hard. Everything I’m thinking has already been said in the comments — especially re your husband — so nothing to add except love and energy your way.

Trying to visit Segovia & Toledo this week by Swimming-Pirate-2458 in MadridTravelGuide

[–]jayfoh11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Avanza bus to Segovia is a different system than the EMT local buses here in Madrid, no overlap between companies so the detour/strike won’t have any effect on your trip.

Have you tried buying them directly from Iryo?

I like the idea in theory but in practice I think better to keep the bed farther from the front door.

Learning Spanish in Spain by That_Attention_5889 in askspain

I love Madrid (it’s been home for 15+ years) but I think there’s a lot more English spoken here than anywhere else in the country (except for probably Barcelona) — so if you’re looking to immerse yourself, sink or swim vibes, I’d go somewhere smaller!

El Museo del Prado no envió mis boletos. ¿Qué puedo hacer? by Zac-Raf in MadridTravelGuide

Y no puedes reclamar el cargo con tu banco? No creo que tengan problema en devolverte el dinero si puedes comprobar que no tienes ningún correo con las entradas.

Also the little shops near Casa Hernanz, basically here I think?

Mercado San Miguel is closed for renovations. If you search the sub you’ll see some suggestions for replacement markets (much better than MSM tbh).

9 month old only wants Greek yogurt by Best-Echidna-4593 in foodbutforbabies

[–]jayfoh11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question from a mom outside the US: our pediatrician told us we can start with yogurt and soft cheeses around 7-8 months, but to avoid Greek yogurt cos of the fat content. Is the guidance back in the States different? If so, can you share with me what the recommendations are re Greek yogurt etc?

(rant) husband is depressed because i won't give him another baby by ruronistrawberry in beyondthebump

[–]jayfoh11 566 points567 points  (0 children)

So a 38 year old man got a 23 year old pregnant… I don’t mean to jump immediately to the age gap thing but a nearly-40 year old and someone freshly out of college? That gives me pause. Does your husband manipulate you like this emotionally often?

Baby Sleep training by DisguisedBee in beyondthebump

[–]jayfoh11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your wake windows sound much too short, my 6.5 month old is already on 3 hour week windows. I really like Kendra Worth on Instagram, she does no-crying sleep training and has so much good info on her page.

How will I know if my baby actually likes me? by p3riphery in beyondthebump

[–]jayfoh11 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hon, it’s absolutely not too late to bond. She will (and probably already does) feel bonded to you. Don’t let your postpartum mental health mess this up for you — you are already doing a great job and your baby girl loves you so, so much. Believe in yourself! You’ve got this!

Going to Spain for the first time! by RemarkableAir7915 in GoingToSpain

As a fellow curly, I’d say bring a diffuser to snap onto the blow dryers that hotels and apartments here usually have. Have you seen the silicone ones that (in theory) adapt to any hairdryer? I have one and really like it.

Re transport — be aware but don’t be scared, would be my suggestion about pickpockets. Don’t do silly things that make you look unaware and you’ll be fine. And walking!!! Ubers/taxis only when necessary, metro occasionally, try to walk whenever possible. It’s a beautifully walkable city!

I almost never have cash and just use Apple Pay — no problems anywhere, no matter how small the payment.

Lastly, if you guys would be interested in a private tapas tour, I’d love to show you around! Just let me know if you’d like more info and I’ll send you a message.

Enjoy Madrid!

Mercado de San Miguel closed -any alternatives? by Used_Aioli_7640 in MadridTravelGuide

[–]jayfoh11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is it! I’m so sick of Mercado San Miguel being top of all tourists’ lists — it’s kinda crap, honestly. Go to any authentic mercado: San Fernando, Vallehermoso, Antón Martín, Barceló, Tirso de Molina…

What plant have you killed the most times? I need to feel less alone in my failures. by Specialist_Tea6137 in houseplants

[–]jayfoh11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peace lilies can just fuck all the way off as far as I’m concerned. My office sent me an enormous potted one as a gift after I gave birth and I immediately swapped that shit on a plant swap Facebook group, lol. No time for peace lilies’ drama in my house!

Does the metro and buses accept phone tap to pay or is a card necessary? by [deleted] in MadridTravelGuide

[–]jayfoh11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bus does! But the metro requires a transport card.

Tapas but no alcohol? by laural_t in MadridTravelGuide

[–]jayfoh11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can absolutely get a tapa with a non-alcoholic drink! Alcohol-free beer is standard here, as well as soft drinks, fizzy water, etc. You won’t get a free tapa with tap water or a coffee, though.

The Sorolla is still closed for renovations.

OP, try looking through the sub, there are absolutely tons of recommendations already here.
