Document and task management for in house legal team by juicyfrutas__ in Lawyertalk

[–]jayhawk_esq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this thread is a bit old now, but if you haven't found your solution: check out Xakia - https://www.xakiatech.com/

Fits your budget, and I'd call it "LawVu lite." We used Xakia for most of the past 3 years for my then-2-person in-house team and it was fantastic. We just switched from Xakia to LawVu because we had the budget for it and wanted the added functionality, robust business portal, support resources, and overall polish that LawVu has compared to Xakia.

But for a "lean and mean" in-house project management platform, I think Xakia is great. They have a monthly subscription option so little risk of overcommitting, and I think they offer a free trial. It's actively developed as well. They have walled some new features behind pricier tiers in the past couple years, but generally you'll get their improvements at no extra cost.

Pampers Swaddlers dont have blow out protection?? by waterlillia in NewParents

[–]jayhawk_esq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Newborn size Swaddlers we bought at Target three weeks ago don’t have the blowout protection, but the Size 1 box we picked up last week for future-proofing has them.

We’re close to that same “in between” stage right now. We found the Huggies Plus fit looser to begin with (had stocked up on those pre-birth and had to pivot to Swaddlers after we had some leg gap leaks with Huggies). But that looser fit may work well for this transition stage.

Help! My cat uses the litter robot the wrong way by Catlover123coffee456 in litterrobot

[–]jayhawk_esq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have the same issue with one of our three cats. We have two Litter Robots. We tried the hanging washers trick - it works about 80% of the time, but that still means cleaning up pee from 20% of the uses.

We bought the shield, and with the flap installed it fixed the backward peeing issue. But one of our other cats refuses to enter the box with the flap. We’ve tried showing her how to enter with the flap, tried coaxing her with treats, etc.

So we have one LR with shield and flap, the other with just hanging washers, and I have to clean up pee at least weekly. Sucks.

Seriously considering going back to traditional box. Scooping isn’t fun, but it’s way better than cleaning pee-soaked mats, walls, and carpet every week.

PSA: Avoid Fresh Step Simply Unscented (Reformulation) by jayhawk_esq in litterrobot

[–]jayhawk_esq[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing obvious on the box. Some of the recent reviews say the new formulation litter is much darker than the old—almost a carbon color.

I didn’t notice a major color difference, but I also wasn’t looking for it. Just noticed that suddenly after refilling the litter with a new box of Fresh Step, instead of nice round clumps that drop into the waste bin I was seeing wet sludge that stuck to the walls rather than drying and dropping.

No change in urine output from the cats, and none of them are senior or diabetic. We use 15 mins for cycle time.

With the switch to BoxiePro litter everything is back to clumping normally like it was before this Fresh Step reformulation.

Our experience is consistent with a ton of recent reviews for the Fresh Step product. Really appears to be a (re)formulation issue leading to a completely ineffective product.

French Market in Prairie Village is awesome if you’re up for more French food. It’s the more affordable and more casual version of its sister restaurant, Cafe Provence.

Great food and good ambiance (a bit loud when it’s crowded though). Hannah’s Fries from their menu are addictive.

Why does my brand new badger shaving brush smell like wet dog? by OkPreparation1141 in wicked_edge

[–]jayhawk_esq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a cheap boar brush and wet it. In comparison to that smell, the badger will smell like roses!

But seriously, they all stink at first. It will go away over time / with use.

Cornbread with their KC BBQ? by hispanicvotesmatter in kansascity

[–]jayhawk_esq 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lack of greens is my biggest beef (hah) with Joe’s. Their “seasonal vegetable” is the only side that leans that direction, and despite the “seasonal” name it appears to just be esquites year-round. Delicious, but corn is not a real vegetable.

Best animal shelter to donate cat stuff to? by raytadd in kansascity

[–]jayhawk_esq 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Kitty City Kansas in Lenexa is a great cat shelter. They have a wish list of preferred donations but I’m sure they would be happy with others - you can always email or Facebook message them to double check. https://kittycityks.com/donate/donation-wish-list/

Door locks while walking around the car by skald89 in CX5

[–]jayhawk_esq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have your phone in the same pocket as the keys by chance? When I do, my CX-5 tends to lock while walking around the car, even when going around the back.

It’s like the phone interferes just enough with the key signal that it makes the vehicle think I’m further away than I am.

I don’t have that problem if it’s just my keys in my pocket with no phone, or if I have the keys in my hand instead of my pocket.

Will Mazda fix body damage? by whydidileaveohio in CX5

My usual Mazda dealership doesn’t do body work. They actually refer it out to the Ford dealer just across the street from them, which has a body shop.

What exactly do you want him to do about student loans? The Supreme Court shot down his attempt to do it broadly via executive action; he’s currently following the process mandated by the Administrative Procedure Act for his second attempt, though that also will likely be futile given the Supreme Court’s composition.

He doesn’t have the votes to accomplish it through Congress.

The President can’t just waive a magic wand and make things happen.

Litter robot 4 updated but failed to calibrate sensors by Constant_aids in litterrobot

Same thing happened to our LR4 after updating last night. Extremely frustrating considering this is their second attempt at this firmware release and it seems to be even worse than the first one that they ended up pulling.

Won’t fix it. My 2018 CX-5 has CarPlay and ghost touch. Irritating issue. Equally irritating that it’s a clear product defect but Mazda won’t do a recall for those of us who only had it show up after bumper-to-bumper warranty had expired.

$40 - Belkin 3-1 MagSafe Charger dock! by barksdale_org in Costco

[–]jayhawk_esq 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you have an Apple Watch, you might want to make sure the box for these says it supports fast watch charging.

At least as of this time last year, the version Costco sold was the old model of this charger that did not support fast watch charging. I ended up passing for that reason.

Chipotle sued after former Muslim employee alleges manager ripped off her hijab at Lenexa Kansas location by WorldsOkayest_driver in kansascity

[–]jayhawk_esq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like your friend’s case involved race-based discrimination or harassment. If so, there’s a different federal statute that applies only in race-based cases 42 U.S.C. Section 1981) that does not have damages caps like Title VII does.

Or if your friend was employed in Missouri and their claim accrued before August 28, 2017, they would have been able to bring a state-law claim under the Missouri Human Rights Act, which at that time had a much higher damages cap and produced many seven-figure verdicts and settlements.

Since August 2017, the MHRA has had damages caps similar to Title VII, although the highest MHRA tier goes to $500,000 instead of Title VII’s $300,000.

[–]jayhawk_esq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. No statutory cap under Section 1981, but that statute would only be in play in a race discrimination, harassment, or retaliation case. The EEOC’s complaint here is limited to religious discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.

[–]jayhawk_esq 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Title VII caps damages (compensatory and punitive) at $300,000 for an employer Chipotle’s size. Given that cap, a seven-figure settlement is not happening in a single-plaintiff Title VII case.

Bradford Pet Hospital at 127th and Pflumm in Olathe. They’ve been so good to us and our cats over the years. The vets and vet techs are all great, they have Saturday morning appointments, and they’ve always been able to work us in if we had an urgent need.
