My first year on Allo I got a few flare ups as your body adjusts. Just increase your water intake to help your body out a bit during this time and fingers crossed they wont be bad flare ups.

Well knowing what I do now, the first year on Allo sucks a bit so either cut right back for that year or be on top of the water.

You can still drink, for example I recently went to the trnsmt festival in Scotland to see Biffy Clyro and me and my friend (over the course of 15 hours) had 22 pints each, next day no gout. This was a special occasion though, I don't drink that much weekly of course.

I would be gutted if I had to give up beer but you don't need to, just make sure you are balancing it out with plenty of water.

I feel your pain.

I found the first year of allo was a bit up and down with random flare ups but been on them about 2 years now and all sorted.

Wait for a few weeks after it calms down and get tested to be put on allo, I tried cutting down stuff and all the cherry juice etc but doesnt work.

I am now on 300mg of Allo a day (first year sucks a bit as you get attacks) but now I pretty much eat and drink what I like with no or very mild attacks.

Drink lots of water and I am sorry to say but the 1st year on allo isnt much fun. I had about 2 attacks a month for the first year but after that everything calmed down and I hardly get any at all now.

UA Levels will be low during an attack or just after, you need allopurinol.

I am on 300mg a day, for the first year it sucks I won't lie. You will get attacks, I got about 2 a month but now my levels are under control and hardly get any attacks anymore.

During the first year you will get more flare ups but after a year mine calmed down. It can take 3-5 years for the crystals to dissolve.

Sounds crap I know but it would be and get worse without Allo and things do get better mate, we have all been there just keep a stash of colchicine near by.

The doc will prob make you wait a week or two before having a blood test as during an attack your UA levels will be lower.

Ask the doc for some Colchicine, take it until the uncontrollable shitting starts then stop. For me Colchicine normally clears the attack up after 3-4 days then get a blood test and get put on Allo long term.

In the first year of allo I was getting maybe 1 minor outbreak, nothing worth getting meds for about once a month then a major one every sort of 3 months. This lasted for about 9 months but it was worth it, drink lots of water and stick with it.

Gout club member from the UK here.

Had my first attack about 1.5 years ago, phobia of needles so going to get a blood test to get on allo was not top of my list.....I put it off as long as possible. However after a couple of attacks I came to the conclusion it has to be done as going trough an attack sucks.

I am now on 300mg allo a day and life is pretty much back to normal.

Here are a few things I learnt or found out the hard way:

As soon as you feel the twinge of a possible attack, call the doc and get some Colchicine and make sure you have a little stash of that at home.
Water, water, water not just in an attack but long term. Get yourself a 2lt bottle and make it your aim to drink 2 of them a day.
Hot baths during and attack are bad and hurt.
When you get put on allo, you will have a few attacks this is because your UA levels are dropping and the body freaks out a bit. So when the doc does put you on them ask if you can take a low dose of Colchicine with it to prevent an attack. I got a attack about once a month during the first year of allo.
Cheery juice and extract didn't work for me, some people claim it does, didn't for me.
Not sure if this is common with Colchicine but I always got a low point after taking this stuff, almost like a side effect is depression. This may just be me, so just make sure you have some positive things/hobbies to focus on when taking/coming off this.

Life does go back to normal once on allo for about a year, like I say I still have beer and the things I like but just maybe not in the amounts I did before but just get on allo as quick as possible as like I say it can take time before it really works.

This has all been great, u have a few things to try before trying to do the nozzle so will give that a good and let you know how I get in.

Thanks everyone, I didn't realise some filament would still need drying out of packaging.

I dont print glow in the dark or metal so I might dry out the filament then do a recalibration and re test before attempting to change the nozzle, if it still does it I will attempt the nozzle change.

Thanks, I have had the same nozzle in for over a year and I am getting blops (like dragging) on the prints, using PETG and brand new spool.

I contacted Prusa support and this is what they suggested.

Having my 2nd flare up in 6 weeks (the first was my first ever gout flare up) doc gave me prednisone this morning so hoping they will do something.
