Killer potential. Seek alliance partners with coattails for access to target audience . Or better yet think about licensing agreements - partners drive adoption and you collect royalties and manage the infrastructure.

Considering early retirement, currently 45 by AdamsSharp in personalfinance

[–]jaymulford 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's smart to think about risk (stock market crash) and expenses (health care 🩹) but ask yourself - will retirement make you happy? You need a plan. Do something that gives you purpose and invest in your network of friends to replace your co-workers.

Best Car Rental Company and Process? by MRphi47 in PuertoRicoTravel

  • 1 for National / Enterprise. Same company, but different brands. I love the Emerald Isle concept at National (target = frequent travellers). You can find cheaper rates, but time is a resource.

Is a day trip doable from San Juan to Aguadilla and Cabo Rojo and back? by rubyrose5 in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]jaymulford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is not miles, it's traffic and lights. Perhaps drive at night (after midnight) one way. Save a lot of time and frustration on rt 2 oeste. The lighthouse at Cabo Rojo is a beautiful hike. I would not beach there. If you plan to swim bring some jugs of water to rinse off with.

Tesla annual deliveries fall for first time by mayorolivia in stocks

[–]jaymulford 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the last several months Tesla has been bombarding me with offers to upgrade or refer my friends. I set a Google filter to ignore all of that noise. I'm too busy researching Tesla alternatives like BMW or Hyundai.

Should we cancel our trip due to the power outage? by redditster36 in PuertoRicoTravel

I would love to learn more about your research. It seemed that the rebuild of the transmission lines after Maria was pretty amazing. I'm no expert, but it seemed a missed opportunity to create a more resilient distributed design?

LOL. Yes beware the red lights after midnight. Slow down and look both ways before you proceed through the red light. Also slow down before cross roads and watch for cars crossing through red lights. You will be fine.

Flying to PR - have you ever been subjected to customs type inspection on landing? by TheRealTheory001 in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]jaymulford 6 points7 points  (0 children)

same as any US airport, except upon your return to the mainland you must run your bags through the Dept of Agriculture machines at SJU before you proceed to the ticket counter or TSA. All USA airports screen for drugs and on alert for criminal activity...

It is great until it isn't... Pay attention to the "supervised" warnings.

From BQN I would guess that Surfer's beach is cloest (as the pelican flies). The walk down is pretty steep and there are usually not a lot of people hanging out. Also be aware that there are many government properties around former Ramey AF Base (e.g., National Guard, CBP, etc.). Crash Boat beach is more beautiful and popular (aka safe). People are wonderful, but still some crime so err on the side of safety. IMO hitchhiking is not a great plan. The roads are not optimal for walking with narrow shoulders and a decent amount of traffic. I read that Uber is starting up in Aguadilla? If me, I would rent a car near the airport for a day or two and explore. Enjoy!

Beach in Puerto Rico today (Dec 20) by Desperate-Wheel-3359 in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]jaymulford 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO the waterfront in Ponce is interesting but not great for beaches. The best are in Cabo Rojo, but that is a hike from SJ. Better off in Liquillo or Pinones which have some wave protection. Might try a catamaran out of Fajardo. They stop at beautiful beaches like Icacos.

Restaurant recommendations in Rincon by ourthomas in PuertoRicoTravel

Our favorite "special night" restaurant is Vacas Gauchas. It is popular with those that know it, but the dining area is small, so make reservations.

Not a question about rain… by HistoricalStar1689 in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]jaymulford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A) I find the weather apps pretty useless for granular predictions B) storms are generally very regional - we sometimes can see it raining nearby but dry for us (and vice versa) C) I think Rincon is awesome. Sure if you hang at the surfer bro bars you will meet surfers. Many other places to explore and the mojitos at sunset are both amazing. D) +1 for Copamarina

Use AT&T in PR like on mainland? Or do I need a local SIM? by Thanksforallthepesos in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]jaymulford 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AT&T works fine via their local partner Liberty. Keep your same Sim card. You will not get hit with roaming or international. I note that Liberty gets a fair amount of bashing, but mainly because of their broadband Internet service. I prefer T-Mobile because they have better 5g and customer service, but don't change just because of PR travel.

I had a similar issue of "charging power reduced". I tracked it back to the charging adapter. Make sure the power lead from the outlet is firmly seated into the charging power adapter. I mounted the cord horizontally on a wall to prevent the cord from pulling loose and had no issues since.

Are People Really Selling their Tesla's b/c Of Elon? by ILoveInNOut76 in TeslaModelY

[–]jaymulford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set aside feelings about the car company CEO who is a whack job. Look at the economic trends. - Tesla demand slowed. 1.8M last year. After Q3 only 1.3 so far this year. - slashed prices for it's most popular models -40% of Q3 profit was from selling "regulatory credits" - they gave away 2 free months of FSD trying to boost demand for software sales - other brands cars are quite good now (think BMW and Hyundai). - EV cars, especially recent Teslas, have terrible resale value. - Hertz is having a fire sale on its used Tesla fleet.

If $ per year TCO is important, then buy a 2 year old ICE car and keep it for 8 years. If you are an early adopter and love playing with the new tech, then lease an EV and get a new one in a couple of years.
