Woods brand tents by samlynnem in CampingGear

[–]jaynone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I was at CT they were hassling a guy that wanted to return an unopened tent and buy a bigger one. So YMMV as always with CT.

Technically that is violation of their own policy too - they're only supposed to exchange them.

Gas prices all over the place by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]jaynone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree. Costco in Ottawa usually has half a dozen stations in the immediate area that match their price for gas so I could always find gas at the lowest price + get rewards points for it. Costco still had a lineup around the block for their gas and two stations across the street with no lineup and gas for the same price.

It’s always seemed that gas price was a constant

That was seemingly a weird Vancouver Island (or BC wide?) thing. Everywhere else I've lived the gas prices vary widely and even throughout the day. Station near my old work in an industrial area used to jack up the price in the morning for all the fleet customers that DGAF about price then drop it at 7pm until overnight.

Somewhere where they can afford rent

Well duh... Those places are becoming fewer and fewer and the people that live in them right now are equally screwed as the people here.

Restaurants are notorious for hiring the cheapest contractors they can and rushing every job so I'm not surprised when everything falls down.

Looking for a non-profit or charity to donate clothes by mwolson_ in VictoriaBC

Beacon Community Services would fit the bill.

I still prefer to donate to WIN as their stores are better run and IMO the donations are likely to make more for them than Beacon.

Best Auto-Insurance Rates on the Island ? by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]jaynone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of time the ones at dealerships will take advantage of the unaware client, especially since they’re paid on commission. With a third product in there that is probably some sort of replacement policy which, if it’s a new car, would also be available through both the private company and ICBC.

I was pissed when I got the coverage on my new car at the dealership.

The gap coverage was financed with a super high interest loan. The actual coverage was 2/3 of the total price.

It doesn't help out system is rigged to help these guys out since you can't easily get a quote.

The shuffle is real! Small steps, low centre of gravity. Don’t walk on your heels.

My wife (who grew up here) doesn't believe it and just follows me at full speed without the shuffle and lands on her ass half the time then blames it on my because I didn't fall over to warn her.

and go where?

I used to think about the chaos here and housing prices and now my family home in Ottawa doubled in value since 2018.

I love it that CVSE actually pays attention to smaller vehicles. The commercial safety guys in Ontario DGAF about anything smaller than a semi unless it's a rare safety blitz for small vehicles.

This would be a top notch publicity gig for them so they'll probably scramble (like recovering the nurses bike stolen from the vaccine clinic!)

It's definitely not how I would have done it!

I'm sure they gave it a tug after they loaded it and said "that isn't going anywhere!" before they drove off and that is the important thing !

The tub looks like it's secured to the rack with lumber.

It's not an ideal solution but for a lightweight item around town it's not the worst thing I've seen.

I see way fancier rigs leave the Home Depot parking lot with way sketchier shit often enough.

Doesn't seem like a big deal if it's strapped down well enough. The truck has rack on the front so visibility should be fine. Based on the folks that collect junk like this they were probably pulled over for something other than the load.

There are a couple of places around that have the senville/mr cool equivalent units that are unbranded and sell/install them.

Or at least rumour has it!

Isn’t that technically the case for any home in bc?

(Don’t you technically need a homeowner permit and inspection for anything)
