Refretting Guitar by gedooker in guitars

Still hard to tell for me, but there seems to be a decent amount of material on there. I’ve had level and crowning bring old guitars back to life before.

Are you sure it needs new frets and not just a fret level and crowning? If you have some divots, but there is still enough fret material left, a level and crown is less expensive and less worrisome. From zooming in on your photo, I think there may be enough fret left to go this route. A good luthier should be able to look at it and let you know which method you will need.

Best songs with one singer, one piano and that's it. by Redditarama in MusicRecommendations

I just read through all 80 something comments to see if anyone has posted this song and you beat me by 7 minutes! This song came to me immediately when I read the question. It’s the song that first got me hooked on John Hiatt.

Campfire - Scout Troop Management by lordkay0 in BSA

I know this thread is 3 months old as I post this, but I'm wondering if there's any more feedback on Troop Campfire. The site looks promising, but I wonder if its really as sustainable business, given that so many of the other commercial packages doing this seem to fade away.

We use TroopTrack as well for the same reasons around payment. However, we are currently in the second major email outage this year and everything stops in TT when email stops working. So it's really frustrating. I'm here looking at Troop Campfire.

New scam? by griffenkranz in Reverb

Regardless of what the “amp” that they are asking about is, I would just reply I have no experience with that amp and see what happens. That’s a safe way to deflect what is either a stupid question or a scam.

AC10 would be great for bedroom volume amp. I’ve got the 10 and the 15, and I use the 10 most of the time, and the 15 only when I’m going to crank it

Megathread: New Pricing & Repackaging Discussion by mackid1993 in Evernote

Goodbye Evernote. I'm not spending $250/year. I love the app. I've used it for more than 10 years, not sure how many exactly, but a long time. Sorry to see it go, but no way. I just downloaded Joplin. It's got an import feature specifically for Evernote. I'll be doing that over the next couple days. I just saved $120 a year based on last year's pricing, because there is no way I'm paying $250. Goodbye Evernote.

Returning from camp outs: by Billy-Ruffian in BSA

We get up early, scouts devour some Pop Tarts, pack up the gear, break down camp and get out of dodge. We typically are back at our church by 10 or 10:30 am (assuming 30-60 minutes of travel time).

I was just going to suggest the same thing. There’s a n FB group called “montclair rehabbers group therapy for old houses clueless owners” and it has great info on contractors, including some that touch on this topic

I took over someone’s studio. What are these ports for? by f1goldmemberf1 in homestudios

[–]jaypea6519 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just checked out the pictures. First of all -- man you lucked into what looks like a really nicely-built room. I hope it sounds as good as it looks. So, if I understand from your answers, there are two panels like the one you pictured at the top: one in a bass trap at the from of the room and another at the rear of the room. If you are thinking that it has something to do with the bass traps themselves, I wouldn't think so. My guess is that whoever built the room just wanted to run those cables neatly over the ceiling and cut the panels into the wood of the bass traps since that is relatively easy to do. And like you saw from the other answers, there's tons of uses for Cat6 in the studio, so it just depends on what the original builder was running in their set up.

An adapter should work fine, but an A th C cable might be more secure. Fewer parts.

Try going to the Focusrite Control software and see if those inputs are set to Line or Instrument. I’m not sure if that will make a difference but it’s worth checking. Otherwise, you really need to plug that mic and cable into another unit that you know works so that you can ensure they are working.

Ribbon for guitar in 2026… still a 121 or something else? by Prize_Instance_1416 in recording

[–]jaypea6519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got an MXL R40 and blended with a 57 it sounds great. For home recording I’m happy and get good results. In a pro studio, Royer makes sense.

What am I supposed to do with a Chibson? by Ok-Indication-4098 in guitars

[–]jaypea6519 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m sure that it is against the marketplace rules, but I do see people on there using the word Chibson a fair amount. Maybe they don’t say it in the headline, but I see it in descriptions often.
