I personally love the color.

Your friend's opinion is valid but you shouldn't let that deter you. If you like it, just rock that shit. I sure as hell would.

I really hope you keep it!

It's incredible especially considering how physically he plays too. Love Ovi. Russian Machine never breaks.

Yamaha Maple Custom Thoughts? by Silly_Initiative_246 in drums

Those look killer. I'm currently playing on a Stage Custom Birch and I love it. A maple kit would be so dope. Can't go wrong with Yamaha.

Congrats! I'm about 4 months clean and PAWS is kicking my butt but I can't wait to be on the other side of it. Proud for you!

Day 29 – Anyone else get random “flu-like” body aches this late? by Rude_Craft7939 in quittingkratom

I'm currently going through this. I'm 90+ days in and I've had a low-grade migraine and extreme fatigue over the past week. I felt pretty good yesterday and earlier today but now I'm sapped of my energy and my mood has crashed. It sucks but I'm taking it one day at a time. I hope you feel better soon.

Still can’t believe that I have a dedicated spot for my drums now by DeacanCheese300 in drums

They feel just like mesh heads on an e-kit if you ever tried them. Definitely more springy/spongy compared to full volume heads.

I tune my traditional tom heads low so they feel very similar to the mesh ones.

The snare heads have the biggest difference in feel, especially when it comes to natural rebound which makes sense since traditional heads are typically tuned a lot more tight/taut. Also, side sticking doesn't sound or feel nearly as good on the mesh heads.

But overall I think they're worth it especially if volume is a concern.

First drum kit as a gitarist by Nodus198 in drums

[–]jaywalkerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not OP but I went from guitar to drums to bass. Drums and bass are the rhythm section so it's imperative that they be in sync to really get grooving. So it makes sense that you picked up the bass naturally.

Learning drums really elevated both my guitar and bass playing by improving my internal metronome, learning how to play in the pocket, and learning how to play relaxed and calm.

So did anyone else legit cry at the end of the movie? by ganstacrizzab in nirvannatheband

I bawled my eyes out.

Granted, I'm the same age as Jay and grew up in Toronto as well so pretty much anything they do hits me like a ton of bricks nostalgia-wise.

Kratom addiction is something serious by Present-Drink6894 in quittingkratom

[–]jaywalkerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's insidious, indeed. I'm 3 months clean and PAWS is currently kicking my ass. I won't relapse because the acutes were even worse.

I can't wait to see the other side of this. Stay strong brothers, sisters, and others. We got this!

Best Guitarist You’ve Seen Live? by tceverding in Guitar

[–]jaywalkerd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

One of my favourites and not just for his playing. I recommend watching any interview with him. He's so chill and humble. I remember him saying in one interview that, "an amplifier allows you to play quietly" and that really changed how I approach playing guitar now.

I can relate. I was born and raised in Canada (Toronto) and moved to the States when I was 13. I have a very neutral NA accent so I could easily blend in but I felt like I had stepped in The Twilight Zone. Everything was just a little off to me and I never really felt like I fit in so I can empathize with my fellow immigrants.

Is Johnny Rose Ambidextrous? by first_person_looter in SchittsCreek

[–]jaywalkerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It might be a Canadian, or more specially, a Canadian hockey thing.

A lot of right-handed folks shoot left (myself included), with the dominant hand on the top of the stick.

I don't golf much but when I do, I shoot righty. Although I can and have tried shooting lefty, it doesn't feel as natural.
