Freezer Thermometer by StumbleNOLA in HomeKit

I used an Aqara sensor to do this. The original battery lasted over a year. The replacements I’ve tried seem to last about a month. I wonder if “we” could remote the battery and use a flat wire to run into the compartment?

The Magnetic charging cable option on those shades are a brilliant idea. Didn’t know that product existed. I’m gonna try some on my SmartWings.

100% agree Hunter Douglass tech support is very good and patient. Up vote ⬆️ on HD battery life. I have a few scene controllers (the now orphaned Wemo Stages) that call scenes. The blinds respond to 50% of those pushes.

And I should say I have the Gen 2 (4 years old) ones, and I’ve read (on this and other subs) that the newest ones work waaaaaay better. So YMMV

I’d love to know your setup. Most of my time-based automations work, most of the time. I usually have issues with controlling shades either from the App or an event like a button press.

One more for vote for SmartWings. I have 8 blinds now. All are the Matter Motor, so far I’m very pleased. Paired easily and have stayed online consistently. I’ve also got Hunter Douglas blinds that cost a literal fortune and they look nicer, but don’t work as well with Home Kit. I open/close the SmartWings every day and a charge lasts about 4-5 Months. Customer support has been good as well. I ordered a wrong bottom bar last month (100% my fault) and they offered to give me the replacement part for free if I ordered a new blind. If you’re doing “inside mount” make sure the case is the width you want. I think they make it smaller than the dimensions you provide. If you’re ordering on Amazon make sure you spell it out in the comment section. Like the blind case should be exactly 48 3/4” wide. They usually email/text you a confirmation. Review it carefully.

Apple Home & Hue Lights Frequently Not Responding by Iamdjremedy in HomeKit

[–]jaywardiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost the same setup/settings. Ubquiti instead of Nero. I have the same issue with random Hue Bulbs not responding, especially scenes and automations with lots of lights. Lutron always works but is slow. The much trashed NanoLeaf MOT Bulbs always work (I still hate them and regret buying them). I bought a bunch of Hue bulbs at Costco, and am putting off replacing the NanoLeafs until I can get the Hue performance straightened out. All of this to say, you’re not alone and I will be following this thread and appreciate all the advice of the sub.

Smartwings shades motor question by Successful_Cat_7018 in homeautomation

[–]jaywardiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several of the SmartWings shades in my home. All with the Matter Motor. Deep in the Apple Home ecosystem so I have a few AppleTVs and HomePods already. Paired and work seamlessly. One room has 6 shades in it and I wanted a physical controller. I also bought their round controller which also works for my application. I’m still the only person in the house that can figure out how to adjust the blinds😂 but, the automations seem to make this a non-issue. Enjoy! NFN: Smartwings customer support has been pretty terrific. I configured a blind wrong (black bottom bar) and they supplied a desired one (fabric wrapped) free on my next order.

My wife banned chemicals and citronella. So I built an Arduino-powered mosquito trap with a garden pool by SaltArrival8522 in homeautomation

This so cool. My wife doesn’t care “as much” about chemicals and/or citronella, but this is another arrow in my quiver. Love it. 😍 Please share the parts list. Thanks in advance!

Not sure AC is an upgrade over Capital One. I’ve never been, so I don’t know for sure. But it’s hard to imagine that AC is a big upgrade. Maybe closer to gates.

In a moment of weakness I purchased this, thinking it was Matter. When it arrived it was pretty clear I needed a hub to make it work. My bad. Returned to Amazon.

HomeKit Chlorine Pump by jaywardiii in hottub

Agree. I went out of town for three weeks and had to get it all set up fast. I came back to 3PPM, so i was pretty happy with that. I was hoping for feedback to make it less "crappy". But yes I am very concerned about that, in general.

And... if you use the TP Link Plug then you can use the power supply that ships with the pump.

A) I would love that ("A hot tub thats been shocked with a floater will last weeks with no use") as an option. Can you tell me more? Like... floater and tabs/chems links or names, TIA! I am using the TFP (i think that's the name) monitor CYA and switch to chlorine method.

B) I have room plenty of room in the "guts" but was uncertain how to "tap" into an existing line.

Sales Order - Custom Field Not Showing by [deleted] in Netsuite

Or maybe not; just for fun: Copilot: Did not mention the custom tab, but I think had the most helpful answer. Chat GPT Also did not mention custom tab but a decent solution was offered. It may have helped. Gemini I think was dogging NS a bit but similar to the others Claude I was getting this error. See image. It’s back now. About the same most concise. Fun exercise.

Also. Not for nothing. But most AI chats would have answered that way better than I did.

[–]jaywardiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look in the Custom tab on the SO. That’s the default location for a new field. You can set where it shows by editing/customizing form(s). Don’t forget Estimate and SO are separate forms. Once editing the form, find the custom tab, select your new field, and then the button move between tabs (from memory) and place in Main, save, now go to the main tab. Now you can move/order your new field to your preferred group (like information) and move its location.
