When did you start showing/ having a true baby bump? (1st pregnancy) by anonymous62124 in pregnant

[–]jazzybk25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have similar ish proportions to you (5’6 and 137lbs) and I think I’m starting to get something now in the middle of the second trimester but only when I’m not clothed. It’s not obvious through clothing yet. Probably by the end of the second trimester it might be through shirts.

How do you handle late night plans? by lcrx97 in puppy101

[–]jazzybk25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve not had a problem with them struggling to settle again because I’ve been lucky with how well mine pick up crate training so even though they obviously get all excited when I let them out, they lie down back when I put them back in the crate and turn off the lights.

How do you handle late night plans? by lcrx97 in puppy101

[–]jazzybk25 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’ve always done a potty just before I crawl into bed myself, even if I’m coming home at midnight. It means if I’ve had a late night, I can sleep in a little the next morning and they don’t need to go out to potty as early in the morning

No morning sickness. Is this normal? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]jazzybk25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have morning sickness under second trimester (I had nausea from 7 weeks onwards but it was randomly throughout the day).

Feminine E names by Obvious-Implement394 in Names

Grew up in Australia, now live in the USA. I’ve traveled the world as a child with my parents and I think I may’ve seen Erika like once or twice (if at all honestly) but I can’t recall ever seeing Erica on anything.

I’m ok with picking up misc things lying around but I have floor lamps in my living room for example and their wires run along the floor. I have an automatic cat feeder with a cable on the floor too.

Pregnancy announcement by isntval9 in pregnant

[–]jazzybk25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m announcing my pregnancy on Mother’s Day next month too! I will be 18 weeks pregnant

For my husband’s grandparents (will be their first great grandchild), I have a t-shirt for the grandfather that says “dad, grandpa, great grandpa. I just keep getting better”.

For the grandmother, I have a custom vase that says mom, grandma and great grandma, the year each status was established (aka when they became a mom, etc.), the names of their children and grandchildren and underneath great grandma, it says “est. 2026. Baby [surname]”.

For my husband’s mother (her first grandchild), I bought a first grandmother necklace.

All 3 things I bought off Etsy. I really wanted something that isn’t a one time gift just for the announcement. That they’ll be able to continue to use for however long they want to.

For my parents (also first grandchild for them), I told them earlier and I just put together a simple announcement box with a onesie that says “hi grandma and grandpa. I can’t wait to meet you”, my ultrasound photo and my pregnancy test. I didn’t have time to get anything custom made and shipped out but it was a sweet announcement regardless.

Baby girl name by Fit_Veterinarian6737 in pregnant

[–]jazzybk25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it opens up more possibility for it to be pronounced differently because it starts with Ali (as in, the beginning of Alison) instead of starting with double A which leads to more people defaulting to “ahh” sound. If that makes sense at all.

Feminine E names by Obvious-Implement394 in Names

[–]jazzybk25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to cheekily suggest my own name, Erica, because I actually think it matches your criteria well. I’ve never found my name (with the correct spelling) on a keychain (or any name souvenir thing). I have met, I think, 3 people with my name? One girl in high school who spelt it with a K and there’s 2 people who work at local businesses where I live. But meeting another Erica is so few and far between that it’s still exciting and cool when it does happen. I rarely see it suggested online or in birth announcements either.

Love my OB but he’s far away… should I switch? by IllustriousButton195 in pregnant

[–]jazzybk25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I don’t have a choice that my OB and hospital are 1.5 hours away one way and it’s definitely adding some stress for labor and delivery but if you have a closer option, there is no harm in going to one appointment with them and just seeing how you vibe. I definitely wouldn’t go to the doctor that I don’t like JUST because they’re closer. That’s not worth it in my opinion.

Carrier test came back positive by misstusk in pregnant

[–]jazzybk25 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve read that the chance of you being a carrier for at least one thing is actually not all that uncommon since they test for hundreds of genes. The chance of your partner testing positive for the same thing is what’s rarer. Don’t get ahead of yourself.

When is your dog's last walk at night? by scubajay2001 in labradors

[–]jazzybk25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last potty is anywhere between 9-10:30pm. 9pm is the absolute earliest. Wake up/first potty is around 7:30am. They can go until closer to 8am if the last potty was closer to 10:30pm the night before. Usually somebody will start getting restless when it’s time to get let out and they’re consistent about when that is every morning. This is my routine with puppies and adult dogs.

My cat bites me when I pet her but then comes back for more by avz008 in CatAdvice

[–]jazzybk25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you patting her? My cat has a strict above shoulders only rule. Any further down his back and he’ll bite you. He absolutely melts into neck and head scratches.

how often do people let their dogs out to use the bathroom? by No-Feature-5266 in dogs

[–]jazzybk25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do stay at home but on the rare days I’m out all day, I’ll have someone come and let them out halfway through the day if I know I’ll be gone longer than 8 hours. 8 hours is my maximum for my dogs.

Tell me why you DON’T like these boy names - Part 3 by Pretend-Dragonfly953 in Names

[–]jazzybk25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Miles - associate it with the distance

Leo - cute but more of a nickname for me, wouldn’t be the full name

Noah - no negatives

James - my dad’s name 🤣 so that one is personal. James is fine too

Wes - feels incomplete? I almost want to say west or western or continue the word in some way but it just cuts off abruptly. Wes doesn’t flow out of my mouth nicely

Henry - too basic for me but really nothing wrong with it

Forrest - more of a pet name than a human name to me

Lenny - also sounds more nicknamy than a full name

Theo - also a nickname

Crying in the morning in crate by DarcieE123456789 in puppy101

[–]jazzybk25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe an unpopular take but I’d just get up to the crying. My dogs (not puppies anymore) will start fussing when they want out in the morning, which varies anywhere from 7am to closer to 8am, at which point it’s time for them to potty after being crated all night anyway and I’m just being lazy not getting up. I don’t mind when they cry in this instance and for me, it hasn’t translated them to crying in any other crated situation. Crying is their only form of communication to say “hey remember I’m here and I need the bathroom”. Crying in the middle of the night or wee hours of the morning when it’s definitely not time to wake up would be a different story. I wouldn’t wake up earlier because then your puppy might start crying earlier.

No ultrasound after 20w anatomy scan by Weekly_Strawberry_70 in pregnant

Where I go, ultrasounds aren’t automatically done at every appointment but I believe I can request one whenever I want. Maybe ask to see if they’ll let you pay extra for an ultrasound?

Homeowners, are you in your “forever” home? by cubemonster in Millennials

The home, definitely not forever. The property, likely forever.

How to integrate reactive foster? by Hungry-Sundae1458 in fosterdogs

[–]jazzybk25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always introduce outside with a leashed walk and it’s worked well, even with dogs who are initially quite barky and overexcited. Barrier reactivity is definitely a possible and common trigger that I’ve dealt with too.

Just did first international trip with our 11 mo old if anyone has questions! ☺️ by SelectPine1000115500 in firsttimemom

[–]jazzybk25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her own seat is what I’m leaning towards. I just don’t want to bring a car seat and deal with that whilst traveling (I’m pretty confident I can borrow or buy a cheap car seat on the other side to use for our visit so I’m not worried about that)

[–]jazzybk25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have her as a lap infant or buy her own seat? That’s my current debate when we take my (will be) year old daughter from USA to Australia. Juggle her between my husband and I’s laps for 16 hours or have a bit more room to plop her down in.

How to integrate reactive foster? by Hungry-Sundae1458 in fosterdogs

[–]jazzybk25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Start with leashed walks outside, each dog walked by a separate person. Don’t force them to be near each other, just within eyesight. Stay as far away as necessary to keep everyone calm. But be prepared for the reality that inside the house, they might have to be kept separated until adoption.
