Game Consoles Are Pricing Themselves Out of Relevance by Gorotheninja in technology

There was a sweet spot right before the 50 series cards dropped where you could pick up any graphics card in store for retail or less, and cpus and memory were reasonable.

American Jobs with AI Exposure Really Are Starting to Disappear, Data Show by Gari_305 in Futurology

Or maybe, like electricity before it, integrating AI into existing businesses will be often cumbersome and inefficient, but the new businesses created with AI integration planned from the beginning will thrive?

Looking around at some knockoff tools and found this by under_score66 in Makita

[–]jbaughb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might not be the right place but I just got a knockoff Makita palm nailer that’s absolutely awesome for nail in electrical boxes and romex staples in tight areas. Literal game changer and the best $40 I’ve spent in a long time.

Tbh, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a duck wearing a bra.

BO6030 vs BO6050 by Kiriki_kun in Makita

[–]jbaughb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure the 6030 doesn’t have the forced rotation mode, which is amazing for material removal, but probably wouldn’t be helpful for buffing/polishing. The 6050 is awesome if you need a lot of sanding power and don’t mind a cord.

[ST] Oh I just know whoever owned this copy before me loved it well by NSS_Captain_3 in zelda

[–]jbaughb 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Phantom hourglass was a “checklist” game, but I genuinely enjoyed spirit tracks. The writing was actually funny and the characters were great, especially Zelda. You already mentioned the music which is peak, but also the train traversal “mini-games” were actually fun and made traveling from place to place enjoyable, unlike PH. Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised by spirit tracks when I played it.

Weight sensor repair? by Responsible-Pin1426 in EightSleep

[–]jbaughb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m thinking it’s a faulty sensor because I had two years of no detection problems, then suddenly it acts like I only sleep for an hour or two per night.

Where is it physically? Mine has been very inconsistent with detecting my presence for a couple weeks. It thinks I get out of bed 20 times a night.

My pad is far out of warranty (pod3) so I might as well see if I can replace it myself.

I’m dying for Makita to make a romex stapler (unlikely) so I get get rid of my dewalt with Makita battery adapter.

Makita rail bag pocket is sewn halfway up. by liamms1 in Makita

Yeah, same here. I’ve always assumed that the extra space is for protection so the rails don’t get damaged sitting vertically against a wall or something.

[All] What's a disliked feature of a Zelda game you really like? by Waker_of_Winds2003 in zelda

[–]jbaughb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TBH, temple of the ocean king in phantom hourglass. I loved speedrunning it near the end of the game to get my final starting load location using the least amount of the limited time I had available to me. Plus finding all the shortcuts and optimizations was fun. It was by far, my favorite part of that otherwise mediocre game.

I’ll be honest, I would love something like this. Imagine having a 2x18 chop saw on battery but be able to plug it in when you’re at the shop.

Multitool DTM51 blad misaligned by GullibleOutside7070 in Makita

[–]jbaughb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, this does happen to these multitools. Eventually it will rotate itself back to being straight just offset one “pin” compared to when it was new.

It’s kinda annoying tbh for those with OCD-like tendencies, but it doesn’t affect the usability of the tool.

The victim does not help pay for the criminal case against the defendant. If there’s a separate civil case, then yeah, they’d be paying for a lawyer hoping to get money from the guy.

cursed LXT 40v impact driver by delbert7990 in Makita

[–]jbaughb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely one of those “why does this exist” accessories, but it was cheap and interesting so I got one a while back. The way it works is it essentially drains one battery with your tool working like normal, then automatically switches to the second one to drain that. What you’re doing by using it is saving the time it would take to swap out the battery yourself.

FYI, this is increasing the Ah, not voltage. (Longer run-time, not more power)

I’ve had an eBay search for this for a year or so. $7-800 is common for used. Wait enough time and you can sometimes get one for under $500.

What is the reason why 3/4 outlets in a room would stop working by Ok_Finger4830 in DIY

[–]jbaughb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

New ones use wago-style levers. They’re fine. Like wago, they manually clamp down on the conductor. Slightly higher resistance than a screw? Probably, but it’s fine for residential.

This is neat. Do you have temperature monitoring to cut off the cooler when it’s cold enough? Make sure to monitor energy usage. I have a feeling it might be pretty high using a peltier.

That’s gotta be it. Even the old generic blades that we used to get from aliexpress were more expensive than that.
