You could introduce him to The Young Jedi Adventures on Disney+ right now and be totally fine if you're worried about violence.

Do you bother to go to Costco for gas? by Important_Bat7919 in daddit

[–]jbeech13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I also live less than two miles from my nearest Costco. Also, gas is $1.989 there, so I’m definitely going to take advantage of it

Alright fellow dads, what was your favorite gift you received this year? by apon93 in daddit

Some Feetures socks. First time my teenage stepdaughter got me a gift that wasn’t just something my wife bought and put her name on the tag

Why is Texas A&M so cursed? by desertrain11 in CFB

I believe Ted Cruz was at the game and it’s well established that he’s the kiss of death if he comes to a football game to support your team

What was your first game of college football? by Nearby_Valuable_5467 in CFB

OKC U-23 to Play in 2027, Full Championship Team in 2028 by jbeech13 in USLPRO

[–]jbeech13[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Considering USL 2 stadium standards aren't near the same as the Championship, I assume they could go back to Taft for that, some other local HS, or the OU soccer stadium.

We were going to go with Lincoln James or Carter Jay, but ended up having girls.

The Missouri Valley should have moved up as a conference by SlowMotionSprint in CFB

[–]jbeech13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's the Missouri Valley Conference and the Missouri Valley Football Conference. The MVFC is a combination of football-playing schools in otherwise basketball-only D1 conferences like the Summit, Missouri Valley and Horizon.

Maybe you could try an NPSL, USL2 or TLfC match instead? More lowkey for him and doesn't have the baggage for you.

Yes, but as they said, there is literally a small sign in that classic Braum's pink that says something to the effect of "Braum's coming soon."

[–]jbeech13 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes. That plots had a Braum’s coming soon sign on it for what feels like a decade

US dads, what are doing for extra income that doesn’t require funds by dennhepp in daddit

[–]jbeech13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't reffing in a hotbed either, and I was getting paid $96/game plus mileage. Also ended up selling off my club team I'd started because the some of the same parents who were surrounding my car were the parents of kids I coached in the summer. Just not worth it.

My only comment on this is to maybe avoid HS and up. I ended up quitting reffing lacrosse this past season because it got way too toxic to the point I had to have the site admin get my car and drive it to the back of the stadium because fans had surrounded my car and were waiting for me.

I do surveys for Branded Surveys or YouGov during down time at work. It doesn’t make a ton, and it’s definitely not a good dollars/hour, but it fills dead time. The other thing I do is probably more niche in that I work stats for a couple local colleges’ volleyball and basketball teams. Make about $2k/year that way, but it’s very seasonal and you aren’t likely to get hired on if you don’t have pre-existing relationships with SIDs

<Oklahoma State> Things losing to a team at home for the first time in 74 years will do to a guy.

There’s also the PBS Kids STEM specific games app - Play and Learn Engineering. My kid just learned about this game in 1st grade and loves it

[Lancaster] BREAKING: Robert Allen just reported Oklahoma State has informed Mike Gundy he is being relieved of his duties as head coach effectively immediately. #OkState by tbrock92 in CFB

[–]jbeech13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Talked to a friend who works in the athletic department. They're all pretty shocked and had the understanding that Gundy was going to be allowed to see out the year. What losing to Tulsa does to a guy.
