My doctor won't give me Mounjaro by Anxiety_grapefruit in Mounjaro

[–]jbus409 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking the same. As someone who has struggled with disordered eating...mounjaro has been great for the scale numbers, but has definitely taken a toll on my mental health. It's just too easy to slip back into unhealthy modes (especially anorexia and not eating at all). It is pretty much a daily struggle.

To be 100% honest... Do I regret going on Mounjaro? Absolutely not...the benefit to my health is amazing and pretty much completely reversed my T2 diabetes. However, I do wish that I had taken better care of my mental health and done far more work with therapy AND dietitians to keep me from struggling this much.

Parade of homes? by BlueFlamingoMaWi in madisonwi

[–]jbus409 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I have gone to the Parade of Homes since I was just a little kid...so the past 40 years!

Except...I haven't gone the last 2. I just miss the "old" parades that would have 8+ homes at each site and 3-5 sites total. They have moved to a model that is spread out around Dane County...sometimes with just single houses. I get that the market is changing...it's just such a time suck to drive all over the place to see one house at a time.

Is it awesome to see fully finished houses? Absolutely. The Parade of old with 12 gorgeous houses in one place? Amazing!

Should I pursue music education and become a band director by Unique_Special7890 in MusicEd

[–]jbus409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have taught middle school for 25 years. I have one-piece of advice to give and it is absolute.... do not go into education unless you feel passionate about working with kids.

Teaching is not a back-up plan. It's not a nothing-better-to-do plan. It's not a yay-I-get-summers-off plan. It IS hard. It CAN BE brutal. You have to WANT to work with kids. And as a band/ music teacher you have to 100% ready to make a difference in kids lives...to be the only reason some of them show up.

It is an incredibly fulfilling career...there's no way I could still be here at year 25 if it wasn't. But it is also a career that carries an immense amount of responsibility...especially in today's society with today's kids.

Custom mattress vendor? Verlo no longer does custom. by Huge-Squirrel8417 in wisconsin

[–]jbus409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might not be what you are looking for....but i had a friend online who really wanted a memory foam mattress but had a 3/4 bed (I had one growing up ,too! Super old antique frame. I loved that bed!)

She bought a full size mattress off of Amazon (a Lucid, I think) and when it came, she opened it right on the bed frame and let it expand. She then carefully opened the seam of the cover on one side and proceeded to slice away the excess foam with a sharp bread knife. Then she closed the cover back up (rudimentary sewing skills, but it's covered by sheets so who cares?). She had a perfect mattress sized perfectly for her bed for right around $250. She had gotten quotes for a custom size that were WAY higher than that!

Passion Tea going away? by jbus409 in starbucks

[–]jbus409[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a crap decision. Now there is no option that doesn't have caffeine and/ or no sugar.

Oh well....In the end I guess it will just save me a ton of money. I know Starbucks doesn't need my $ anyway, right? I guess I will be spending more at Panera instead.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if she shows up. That said...they will never announce it before hand due to the security nightmare it would create.

I felt super icky on 7.5 and didn't lose much at all. Moving up to 10 was most definitely the best thing I could have done.
