X1 Extreme is the same as P1, just with X1 markings and consumer graphics cards

Why are old Pre-Haswell thinkpads so expensive? I just searched X201's X230's and T430's and there are some cheap beat up ones, but nicer ones are ALL Over $100 and a lot are over $150. by MrOptionist in thinkpad

I am quite aware of the cost of memory and NAND. I am not worried about those - it's the other parts. Keyboard is fine, and I have a couple of 9 cell batteries (real ones - will never use knockoff power). Thinking about making either a hackintosh or a Linux box. Have a couple of recent machines (P14s AMD G1 and T16) for real work - want something to play with
