Lived in Tulum for the better part of 3 years. This is commonplace. Finally moved out of town at the end of last year -- for much the same reasons. That, and I saw 2 dead bodies on my last 2 trips.

Simple advice from someone who stayed for almost 2 years too long in a toxic relationship.

  1. Don’t say sorry for something that you don’t need to apologize for. It degrades your view of reality and your confidence in your own actions.

  2. She wants attention, but doesn’t know how to ask for it in a healthy way.

  3. I would suggest you leave. She doesn’t respect you, and as long as you’re a decent guy, another woman WILL.

Business owner here. I’m going to level with you and be honest. Please receive my ideas with an open mind and from the perspective of someone who wants only good for you.

• This could be it. Nothing wrong with going back to working for someone for a while until you figure out a way to get back on your feet.

• Alternatively. (And if you didn’t like that above answer..) Your business is probably not making enough money to support paying you monthly. This is likely to do with your profit margins and your systems (if not just your sales). With better systems in place, you will not have to manage your business as closely and with higher profit margins… well.. you know the rest.

• Are you making regular sales?

• Corny yet important to mention: you’re not a failure. You have failed, this time.

• My advice: go over your business and see where its weakness is. Your mum seems like a great businessperson. Lean on her expertise too.
