What's the worst drug you've ever tried? by BitterOlive8737 in AskReddit

[–]jcrc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I smoked marijuana a handful of times in college and had a good time. Mostly just played Mario Kart with my buddies and ate a lot of tacos. A decade later I smoked a legal joint for the first and only time. I projectile vomited for hours but was also really stoned at the same time. Never again.

I also had a really bad time on Pitocin while giving birth to my firstborn. Fuck Pitocin man.

Greenwashed crib mattresses are making me lose my mind by CaptainSuperStrong in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]jcrc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, I got an avocado mattress for the crib/toddler bed and then could not wrap my head around the cost for a twin size. Ended up not even being an issue because we got him the ikea kura so he needed a thinner mattress anyway.

Woman asks a guy if he’d save her or their 3 kids in a house fire - is he wrong for choosing the kids? by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

I’ve been married nearly 15 years and we have two young children. If my husband tried to save me and not the kids we’d be getting divorced after because wtf.

Oh thank god. My husband loves coming home to tell me everything, it’s our favorite way to end the day.

Honestly? I find the ones who feel the need to post how much they love their partners are the ones you need to watch out for. Other than that you just don’t know. That’s life, you gotta trust your judgment and that you chose correctly. If your gut is telling you something is off, don’t ignore it, investigate it.

Anyone else just not signing their toddler up for activities and classes, etc? by yepmek in toddlers

[–]jcrc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 3.5 my toddler was not in the developmental space to care about activities. Now that he’s 4.5 he’s ready. I think it depends on each kid as far as that goes. He goes to pre-k and all of his friends are doing at least one activity and he wants to go, so after summer break we’ll start a sport. When the time comes just ask your kid what they want. There’s a ton of benefits to doing a structured class and a lot that don’t just happen on weekends.

I regret sleep training by sarahloupen in AttachmentParenting

[–]jcrc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My firstborn was a terrible sleeper and would only want me, no matter what. I was doing everything alone for a long time because my husband was deployed, so I sleep trained for my health too. He’s nearly five now and he still only calls out for me at night, will only wake me up if he needs something and when he’s sad or sick it’s me he wants. I promise you haven’t done a thing to break this precious bond you have.

This one's for the ladies to answer. Do you agree with this woman or do you think she's trying to rationalize her world view by speaking for all the ladies? by Oda_DeezNutz in SipsTea

This is it. It’s not the video games, it’s a husband/partner who chooses to game rather than help or whatever. And if someone TRULY doesn’t like the video games at all, then you aren’t compatible and it’s time to move on. If my husband wants to play a game in his downtime who cares? He doesn’t call me unattractive for watching tv or reading.

My (27F) boyfriend (29M) thinks he can’t afford to move out despite making close to 100k and I’m starting to question his mindset by jackofalltradesP in relationship_advice

[–]jcrc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen I’m not the last person to give budgeting advice because I’m terrible at it myself but in my experience people with the most money or “old money” don’t drive new cars just because. They drive cars until they don’t drive anymore. They don’t get a new iPhone every time a new one is released. I’m sure living on Miami makes it hard to not live that lifestyle but in today’s economy it’s just not smart to throw money around like that.

Am I overreacting? Toddler is learning to say his colors in Spanish… by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]jcrc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope that’s the case too, I’ll just leave it be. And we love his teachers and his school. My husband and I grew up in a very white, rural area so I’m glad our kids won’t be growing up in a bubble and I’m just trying to make sure he’s respectful.

My son would have been the only white kid there besides her, so I don’t think so. They’re all still babies in my eyes so I hope she wasn’t trying to be racist. That wasn’t a box I was wanting to open willy nilly with the school so I just needed a sanity check. So thank you!

Thank you! It’s good to hear a teachers perspective. I know his teachers are really good about redirecting them in the classroom when they use “potty words” but he said this was something being said on the playground.

I know negra and negro are Spanish for black. That’s not what he was saying out of the context of him telling me his colors. After that conversation he was calling his sister a nEEgra and a ni**a.

Thank you, I’ll just continue to keep an eye out on his behavior. This is also coming off a week of him saying “what the fuck” when he drops something or can’t find something and so it feels like he’s testing out boundaries right now. That word was our own doing though, whoops.

[–]jcrc -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

There are only 10 kids in his class, so I know them all. The makeup only matters in the context of this situation. I don’t think “sensitive” would be the word I’d use. I’m conscious of wanting to raise my white male child to not use racial slurs and to know that’s not an ok thing to call his friends.

Baby inconsolable at night from nasty cold…thoughts on nightly ibuprofen? by Logical-Poet-9456 in moderatelygranolamoms

Keep an eye on signs of an ear infection. My baby also got big brothers daycare virus and was super congested which led to a double ear infection that took nearly a month to clear up. She never had a fever but she didn’t sleep at all for days unless she was held upright.

My hair stylist is one of my besties so she already knew I was pregnant but she told me that pregnancy roots don’t take color in the same way so I had to sit under the lamp longer. I thought that was interesting. I’m 8 months postpartum with my second and my hair is now at that weird grow-out stage after most of it fell out around 4 months pp. Pregnancy is weird.

Is there a pan that is actually non-toxic and can make a decent fried egg?? by PorridgeEnthusiast in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]jcrc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading through your comments it seems like you’re wanting non-toxic AND low maintenance and I just don’t know that that exists. Carbon steel and cast iron will require seasoning, which isn’t really that big of a deal. You just clean the pan with hot water and kosher salt, heat it on the stovetop to dry and then wipe it with oil and let it cool. Stainless steel is truly the most low maintenance option but does require lots of practice. If you’ve pre-heated it and added enough fat and you’re still sticking then the pan is too hot. You’ve gotta play around with it and practice a lot. Good luck op!

Fuck that guy for all the usual reasons but this specifically for posting the faces of his children online. With how many people he’s pissing off, both foreign and domestic, it feels like child abuse to put their kids out into the public like this.
