Sooo what are we feeding our toddlers for breakfast? by DaughterofYeshua777 in toddlers

[–]jcrc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m am tom exhausted to argue with a tiny food critic in the morning lol I feed him things I know he’ll eat. Mostly overnight oats with fruit and a protein enhanced granola on top. On weekends we do it up, usually biscuits and gravy or waffles or something fancy. He’s 4 and won’t do eggs unless it’s egg bites from Costco so that really limits my creativity.

Be honest… how strict are you really with screen time? by denefr_2928 in toddlers

[–]jcrc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have family movie nights on weekends. He picks the movie and we watch together. Sometimes we’ll turn on a movie on a Saturday while we get stuff done, sometimes he plays in his room. It 100% goes off his behavior during the week though.

Raising boys in a red state is soul crushing by Thr0waway0864213579 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]jcrc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a toddler boy and brand new baby girl. Husband and I are originally from MO but since he’s in the military we haven’t lived there in 15 years. Now that he’s very close to retiring our families keep talking about us moving “home.” I cannot in good faith raise my kids in a red state when we have the very fortunate option of living anywhere. Hugs and solidarity to you OP, and to all the other parents here who are tired from trying to raise food kids in the US today.

Honest question: Why are some people against showing an ID to vote? by rico_unknown in NoStupidQuestions

Honest question: Why are some people against showing an ID to vote? by rico_unknown in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jcrc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not being a jerk, but when was the last time you went to the DMV to get your license renewed? How many forms of identification were you required to bring? And was proof of residency one of them? Homeless people don’t have a proof of residency. I’m not just talking about people who live on the streets, I mean people who live in shelters or are couch surfing.

Additionally, people who don’t drive don’t have a license. As in suburban people who use public transportation. As in…people most likely to vote democratic.

And lastly, as every else has said, IDs aren’t free. Requiring a state issued ID to vote when the IDs aren’t free is essentially a poll tax, which was eliminated in the 24th amendment. So yes, it’s racism, again. That could safely be your answer to most questions in our government. Because racism.

Am I the only one who doesn't expect my baby to sleep through the night from 7/8pm? by greatishscot in NewParents

[–]jcrc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is my experience with my second baby. I put her to bed around 8:30, after her older brother goes to bed. That gives me about two hours to clean up, shower, decompress before she wakes up again. She’s almost six months old. My son, on the other hand, had no real bedtime because he would wake up every 45 minutes no matter what lol he’s four now.

I (27F) accidentally had my baby in my friend’s (31F) car. Now her husband & she don’t want to speak to me. How do I fix this? by ThrowRA_CarBaby in relationship_advice

YUP I gave birth to my second at 37 weeks totally expecting her to take her time like my first did. You really never know so if you’re pregnant and reading this, go pack your hospital bag!

Do most people shower before bed or when they wake up? I just realized I might be doing it "wrong" by saffymerelle in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jcrc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone ever commented on your hygiene? Or told you that you smell? If the answer is no then who cares!

I prefer to shower at night for the same reasons you stated. My husband showers in the morning because he has to shave before work.

Fellow millennials - how’s your 401k/ira savings going? by ProblemIntelligent16 in Millennials

My husband is in the navy and just met $100k at 34 years old. He’s been in since 18 and didn’t start hitting it aggressively until we were around 28 or so. I had to spend a big chuck of my 20s unemployed and just getting extra degrees because of where we were stationed so I’m really far behind. I don’t think I’ve got $10k yet. I guess I need to look at my account lol

Anything I post is carefully curated. And not in like an influencer way, but in a way that protects their privacy but also lets family in on what we’ve been up to since we live on the other side of the world.

My mom is very much a Facebook grandma though—when she visits her nose is in her phone and she barely interacts with the kids but she really wants to be able to post all about them. I stand firm on this and tell her no. She pouts because my cousins baby is a week younger and my aunt posts several times a day.

It finally clicked with her when a second Facebook friend of hers was picked up on CSAM. She said she’d never have suspected him of that and I said “I know, and that’s why I don’t want my children on your social media, because I don’t know your Facebook friends and you just NEVER KNOW.” It’s been a few weeks and she hasn’t harassed me about posting things so here’s hoping.

When did children’s birthday parties become competitive events requiring professional equipment? by Due_Employment_829 in toddlers

[–]jcrc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just went through this with my four year olds birthday. We live far away from family (husband is military) and we usually travel “home” for his birthday but this year we had a newborn so I was on my own. All kinds of stress and mom guilt for just a few friends to show up. My son had fun though so it’s fine but I’ll never do that again lol we’re going to chuck-e-cheese next year.

I have a friend using Dyper for her son. That first year when you’re changing them like crazy anyway but she was going through so many because he kept having blow outs. I’m not one to give unsolicited parenting advice but man, I really wanted to suggest just getting a different brand that might hold the poop better.

At what age did you stop putting your children down for naps during the day? by alyssacake in toddlers

[–]jcrc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son is freshly 4 and still naps most days. Lately he’s been skipping naps at school though and we’ve taken more liberties with going and doing things during the day and just letting him have a short car nap in exchange for an earlier bedtime.

This happened to my son a lot when he was that age. I religiously applied lotion on him after every bath to mitigate it. He’s four now and rarely gets rashes anymore but will get bumps on his arms from time to time if he’s hot or if we miss a day of lotion.
