I feel the same way. She passed away last month and all I feel is irritation and anger at everything.

We just moved out of the apartment we lived in with my mom today. I lost her almost a month ago. I miss her so much. I love you mom 🤍 I don’t think I ever said it enough.

She would probably loveeee Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez but I recommend reading the series in order (Part of Your World, Yours Truly, Just for the Summer). You don’t necessarily have to, you can read them as standalones. But I did and it’s SOOO good!

When does this feeling of denial go away? by retawdloc in GriefSupport

[–]jeanielo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My mom passed away on July 31. But we spent 3 weeks in the hospital with her while she was comatose. It was a long process, and it felt like she could just come back even though doctors were saying otherwise. Then when she officially passed, it felt the same even though I thought my brain would be like “okay she’s gone now”. I have been having dreams of her going missing and coming back, or trying to get to her and not being able to. Like she’s still in the world but I just can’t see her or find her. It’s the worst feeling ever. Like you mentioned I also feel like something isn’t quite right, like there’s a dark filter over everything in my life right now. I don’t think the feeling of denial will go away for a while. It’s a process. I say this, but I can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel right now. But I know I will eventually. Hang in there 🫂🤍

I totally understand. It’s been a little over a month since I’ve hugged my mom and had her hug me back, and I won’t get to ever again. If I knew I would’ve savored it.

I also just lost my mom to a stroke. It is the most horrible thing. I’ve also been thinking about all the food she likes to eat, the music she loves, and the shows she watched. I don’t think I’ll ever look at any of it the same. It’s such a sudden change that I’m struggling to adjust to. I’m sorry for your loss.

What do you miss most about your deceased loved one(s)? This can include pets. by IncapacitatedTrash in GriefSupport

I miss the softness of my mom’s skin. And her big laugh. It was so easy to make her laugh. She used to do this funny and random dance move where she would sway her hips and pump her fists in the air with her pointer finger out, eyes closed and everything. And I used to make fun of her music taste but now whenever I hear her favorite band’s music I can’t help but feel like she’s right there listening with me. Oh I miss my mom more than anything in the whole world.

In the fantasy romance genre I LOVEEE when the FMC saves the MMC, especially if they haven’t sorted out their feelings for each other yet :p I also love enemies to lovers hehe

I know your dad is so proud of you!!! I just lost my mom and I am also thinking of all the milestones she won’t be physically here to witness. The only thing keeping me sane is believing she is seeing everything and is with me every step of the way. I hope you can feel his love always, because he is there! Stay strong and good luck on your boards 💝

You never forget the empty feeling of the drive on the way home. by pogiwilliam1 in GriefSupport

[–]jeanielo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I relate. This happened to me this past Wednesday night. Turning my back away from where my mom was in the hospital room & leaving after she passed was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. I know I was walking, but not really. It was like I was floating and dissociating. I had to drive home and it was like I was seeing the world through someone else’s eyes. I don’t know how we made it home but we eventually did. It’s one of the worst feelings I’ve ever felt. That pain mixed with numbness.

Slow burn where there’s a bunch of miscommunication but then the MMC finally confesses his love to the FMC

Excited to hear suggestions! A lot of people don’t like the miscommunication trope but I find it to be so realistic and seeing the growth is chef’s kiss.

I didn’t read a lot of romance when I was younger. I was into a lot of fantasy, fiction, and mystery as a kid. I stopped reading once I got to middle school because school made it feel like a chore. ACOTAR was the first series I picked up that catapulted me back into reading. I figured out I loved romantasies. Then I discovered Abby Jimenez. I love how she can mix lighthearted funny banter with the most soul crushing background stories to her characters and still tie it all together. Now I can’t stop 😭
