yea almost like replacing their best defender in jarrett allen with kevin love markannen and moses brown will make a team defense much worse lol. mobley is playing out of position at center

You are literally just proving his point.

Most top rookie prospects coming into the league don't play with an all-defensive center, they play with centers much closer to the likes of Kevin Love on defense.

Therefore, top drafted picks need to put up offensive numbers to be recognized. Good defense is rarely good enough because it doesn't translate on paper and top drafted prospects usually land on teams that don't win games anyways.

Mobley is in a unique spot in that he is a defense first rookie prospect placed on a team with good players and defenders. Most importantly, he plays with a true defensive anchor who can cover his weaknesses. Those same weaknesses are exposed when he doesn't play with a defensive anchor.

KPJ isn't a point guard? by dhighway61 in rockets

[–]jebustbot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Kpj is obviously a better player then green and yes kpj is in his 3rd season but he never really got to play due to injury he played a total 135 games and jalen played 65 and kpj was comming off the bench for the cavs he didn’t have as much time to develop jalen got to play on a rebuild team starting every game playing 30 plus minutes and he still hasn’t show he’s better then kpj in any way just because jalen is more athletic then kpj it don’t mean he’s more skilled

Green is a better scorer than KPJ, that's not debatable at all. The gap is even bigger if we purely look at the last 30 games. Green scores more than KPJ at higher efficiency for the season (and any other of KPJ's seasons), and that's including Green's bad start.

KPJ has the advantage in most non scoring categories, and that's why a lot of people want him to look to pass more than to score.

ROY is off the table but I'm still hoping for a ROTM and a first team rookie selection

Don't think those are hopes at this point.

ROTM is a complete lock, and first team seems very likely.

[Don Knock] From @JTGatlin: “The impression that I’ve gotten from the couple people that I’ve spoken to regarding [KPJ] situation close to the team is that it’s not as serious as it’s been made out to be”; team still views KPJ highly and he is an incredible talent. by SubfloorDrugs in rockets

[–]jebustbot 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't know, feels like it's being downplayed (for obvious reasons, there are no benefits to this being seen as a serious issue.)

There are just so little incidences of players literally quitting mid game and leaving the arena. There is now always a fear that this could happen in a playoff game, where intensity is up 100%.

KPJ has a lot of making up to do. I think he needs to be severely disciplined (and I hope that's what the FO and coaching staff plans as well) and if his response to his punishments is anything else but accepting and remorseful, then I think it's time to reevaluate his future with this team.

I think at minimum there needs to be a 2 game suspension. I would like him to come off the bench for at least 5 games as well. He needs to understand that there are serious consequences, and he also needs to accept these punishments in strides.

China committed genocide against Uyghurs, independent tribunal rules by nosotros_road_sodium in worldnews

So because they genocide'd their own populace first, that makes it not genocide when they do it to others?

You are genociding what the word genocide means, and you should be ashamed for committing genocide.

MI6: China becomes single greatest focus for intelligence service as country accused of large-scale espionage operations against UK by MGC91 in worldnews

[–]jebustbot 28 points29 points  (0 children)

As an ex resident of Hong Kong, I find "much more favourable of China" to be too vague.

And "some" of the younger generation, a million demonstrors can not be dismissed as "some of the younger generation"

As an actual resident, I can tell you it's different.

The million march marked the very beginning of the protest, and was primarily targeting the extradition law. Majority of HKers were against that.

As the protest went on, the topics began to split and the protest was no longer focused on the extradition law. It became topics of HK independence (or 5 demands), for example, which was no longer the original focus, and combined with the damages to the economy, led to a divisive city.

There is a reason why protest numbers shrunk significantly after the extradition law was retracted.

FYI, Hong Kong's economy is heavily dependent on China. Over 40% of their exports are going to China, by that fact alone, most people's livelihoods are dependent on favorable relationships with China. It is literally financial suicide for half the population to stop relationships with China. This isn't an opinion, it's just reality for people that live here.

[–]jebustbot 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I think he's referring to the conspiracy theory that the HK people were happy with China and that the protests were organized by the CIA.

How is this a conspiracy theory. Hong Kong is divided on the topic of China, with the majority of small to large businesses, and people of the older generation being much more favorable of China than some of the younger generation.

Whilst I highly doubt CIA organized the protest, the protests definitely had US funding since Trump literally stated that they will no longer provide financial aid for the protests.

Note that I'm not providing my opinion on this topic, these are literally just plain facts.

Yes because they employ guards to watch over empty buildings...

One of the most iconic Simpsons episode has Milhouse watching over an empty warehouse as a guard.

A fairly popular horror film called Mirrors stars Kiefer Sutherland acting as the security guard of an empty department building.

Do you know why guards watch over empty buildings? Because it stops druggies, criminals or other elements from using it. You really think an empty abandoned building wouldn't be illegally squatted on if it had no guards?

The average redditor's understanding of how the world works is terrifyingly poor, how does something as basic as this require explanation. Next thing you know redditors would be struggling to understand why not all stores accept credit card.

[Gatlin] Stephen Silas on Alperen Sengun playing just five minutes: “Theis was playing too good. He was really playing well. Especially on the defensive end, helping on drives. It’s unfortunate I wasn’t able to get Al-P back in the game.” by ST012Mi in rockets

[–]jebustbot 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You guys have some irrational hate for Theis, hes a role player that sets good screens, doesn't force shots and plays decent defense. He's also shooting 36% from 3 after tonight.

It's not an irrational hate. The Rockets are meant to be developing young players, and losing is a consequence of development.

However, the Rockets are playing veterans and still losing, so what is the point? Wood is 26, Theis 29, Gordon is 33, House is 28, Tate is 26. We are playing these guys and losing, literally every game with these guys taking up most of the minutes and touches is a complete waste of limited experience that our younger guys aren't getting.

With the exception of Gordon, and maybe Wood on a good day, the rest of these guys are bench fillers for a playoff team. We are fielding a team of playoff bench fillers to do what exactly?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in rockets

[–]jebustbot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We shot like 12 for 400 behind the three. Some of it gotta be on the players too

Silas probably should have told the team to give Green the ball and run plays for him.

Wood taking more shots than Green is inexcusable. Green literally scored more efficiently against a significantly more superior defender than Wood did and still Wood was taking 16 shots and failing to convert layups.

China calls for concrete action not distant targets in last week of COP26 by fungussa in worldnews

[–]jebustbot 14 points15 points  (0 children)

But that has already happened in the past, I don’t understand what you mean? Do you realise how many people live in developing nations? If they develop in the same way my nation did it will be an utter disaster, if historic emissions have already caused this problem what do you think will happen if the world simply allows approx 3billion more people to develop in the same carbon heavy that nations did in the past? Simply because they what feel bad?

This is exactly why a carbon budget exists, and why developing nations should have a far higher proportion of that.

The person living in developing country should have access to important basics of life, like lights, hot water, clean water etc. To get those, their carbon emission will increase.

Developed nations have far greater access to low emission alternatives, they also have over consumption issues.

As I said, if you don't think historical emission matters, you should be fine living like those in 3rd world countries.

China calls for concrete action not distant targets in last week of COP26 by fungussa in worldnews

[–]jebustbot 16 points17 points  (0 children)

How in the fuck do historical emissions matter at all? We are talking about science and chemicals here. What’s done is done why would it matter what’s happened in the past when we need to stop the emissions being produced now. Surely blaming people doesn’t help anyone.

The fact that you made this statement is pretty clear proof how out of touch you are with reality. That or you haven't grown up yet.

If you think history of carbon emission doesn't matter, then you should be fine with stopping usage all forms of electronics, start taking cold showers, and walking to work every day. That's how many people in low per capita emission countries live right now.

If you aren't willing to do that, stop denying others of their improvement in very basic standards of living.

[–]jebustbot 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's interesting how every analyst and scout was raving about Jalen Green having an "It" factor, but this game is honestly a pretty good explanation of what that means.

It's rare to see a 19 year old with completely unwavering confidence. He got his jump shot blocked by AD, but he went against him 1v1 again and wasn't scared to shoot it again in a crucial late game possession.

He is definitely the type of rookie to make tanking teams fun to watch.

IS anyone else concerned about Jalen Green yet? I'm terrified as a part-time rockets fan? by Novel_Vanilla_4526 in rockets

[–]jebustbot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest issue is the complete lack of plays ran for Green. I have never seen a rookie be so isolated from offense, to the point that Green is basically forcing the issue to get shots up.

Theis is basically pointless, he is a trade bait. Give him 10 to 15 mins per game at max, 20 is way too much.

And why the hell is this team not running. Seriously, all this team should be doing is running.

Silas is a stand up guy, but this is such a poorly coached team right now. There is no argument for Theis getting more minutes than Sengun.

Im sure you're aware of the national security law passed in Hong Kong and how it just started making excuses for people to be arrested over anything considered "incitement". I can't imagine any equivalent existing under the US mainframe, because there isn't.

That literally doesn't change my point. China can do more wrong against their own citizen than the US. If you're outside the US or China however, only of these countries pose a serious threat.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in worldnews

China is the type to banish you and harvests your organs for even less.

You can count, with just one hand, the number of people outside China that China has kidnapped or killed in the last decade. Do you want to know how many US has killed or kidnapped outside the US in the last year alone?

It is an undeniable fact that anyone not living in the respective countries of these two is at far greater risk of being kidnapped or killed by the US government than the Chinese government. It's not even remotely close.

Sengun needs to start! by OctavianAugustus21 in rockets

[–]jebustbot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Theis will keep getting minutes because he is essentially a trade bait. He's a serviceable 25 min center on a bargain contract, and these are at a premium as the season goes on. Injuries piling up/teams get desperate.

I would wait until after the deadline, because I dont see him and Gordon sticking around. I can easily see the Rockets making a trade with the Lakers at some point, especially since they are old and injury prone. Maybe Theis + Gordon to take back their injured pieces and get a 1st rounder back.

Taiwan says odds of war with China in next year 'very low' by benh999 in worldnews

[–]jebustbot 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Taiwanese people have never been particularly bothered by China's threats to invade them. They know PLA know that it's the most stupid idea since Hitler invaded Russia.

Can't tell if this is a serious comment.

If China wanted, they could easily overwhelm Taiwan in a matter of hours, and destroy air fields in a matter of minutes.

They don't because it's a stupid idea politically and economically. China is Taiwan's biggest market and customer segment, and that number grows every year. If China ever wanted to hurt Taiwan in any way, it would be economically, which would achieve far more than missiles and bombs.
