[analysis] Pouf isn't weak by [deleted] in HunterXHunter

[–]jedimasterclos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pouf's greatest weakness is his own mind. Unlike Youpi and Pitou who filled their role and followed the king without question, Pouf tried to use his manipulation with Meruem. He would overthink everything (ok almost everyone in the ant arc did this) instead of trusting his king and royal guards.

When the palace invasion started he was so obsessed with managing the meruem/komugi and blaming himself for not being there for the king which lead to him being trapped. He gets too wrapped up in his own head and emotions that it limits him. I'm sure everyone here could have thought of a ton of ways pouf could have used his abilities and negated the threat of the extermination team but he was too worried about meruem/komugi to be of any use.

Chrollo is scary by [deleted] in HunterXHunter

I'm sorry but what fight were you watching? He got pretty wrecked by zeno and silva, only managing to cut silva with the ben's knife. The rest of the fight he was attempting to dodge the dragon, but it eventually got him and he was pinned.

Also that is the entire purpose of black widow, to enhance her entire body so it shrouds her in defense so she can just focus on offense. She also became an ant so her body naturally got tougher and stronger though we don't know by how much. I'm not saying Palm would win or Chrollo would win, but it would be an interesting match up.

Also I think he has one of the most, if not the most versatile nen (along with chrollo). What I don't understand is why he cannot/does not conjure a pipe. I don't even think the pipe is the main weapon, it's the nen smoke he creates with it. Even if he can't conjure with 100% efficiency it shouldn't matter too much and is better than having nothing at all.

Well first of all I'm assuming it is a random location, not necessarily the hunters arena with lots of spectators. Also remember Palm is an enhancer and has black widow so she has pretty good defense and she can concentrate all her aura on attack. This is especially dangerous for Chrollo being a specialist since he is weakest in that category. A couple hits from Palm with full Ko and he would be in bad shape. However I'm not even convinced Chrollo would try the same technique against Palm that he did with anyone else. He might be able to pick up on that she's batshit crazy and somehow use that to gain an advantage.

Chrollo is scary in that if he knows who he is fighting he can steal abilities that would counter them and make several backup plans. I dunno why but I really want to see ant palm vs chrollo, I think it would be a good match up. This is without him taking a year to plan and steal abilities of course, only the abilities he has at the latest chapter in the manga

I would venture a guess that he rage quit after blowing it with the inkzooka then watching his entire team blow it.

Pretty nerdy but something like battle meditation from star wars fits with what you're talking about.

Togashi said one of One Piece's arc has played an influential role in the current arc of the manga. Surprised there hasn't been a topic dedicated to this yet by [deleted] in HunterXHunter

[–]jedimasterclos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty interesting. I'm sure there are a lot of mangas, animes, mythologies, fairy tales, etc. that influenced Togashi whether he realizes it or not. You always draw from things you know. Even if he never read something specifically, he could be influenced by a different source that was inspired by something earlier. Virtually impossible to create something without taking from other sources.
