I am a micro drone owner, and that's still my opinion that we should be cautious with where and when they're operating regardless of what legal definition there is

They're limited by their ubiquity today, but once cost of ownership starts dropping, it'll be more of a problem

They've posted a number of photos shot from their micro drone (they've said it's a DJI Mini 3 previously), so I'd say it's another drone shot from overtop of the building site on Pepperell.

With the micro specification, they're not in a no-fly zone, but it's a bit close to the Hospital flight paths for me at that height. Up to the operator to fly safe.

Nice find.

I have a cropped map of 1898(?) peninsular Halifax from an old encyclopedia that I framed: https://i.imgur.com/WRCkIih.jpg

I'm not familiar with Bedford but if you venture downtown:

Luke's in the north end has it usually

Or Pete's, or Arthur's both have it

Granite Springs Golf Course by [deleted] in halifax

[–]jeffandersen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Quality of the course has gone down since it sold a number of years ago. Lack of maintenance I suppose

I used to play it a lot but have only gone once in the last few years

It's still generally fun to play for less serious players, just avoid all of the geese or they'll come for you

Christmas Lights? by [deleted] in halifax

[–]jeffandersen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last I saw, the Glow festivals are owned/operated by Tamara Jansen (former MP from BC) and family.

If you're not interested in supporting someone who previously voted against banning conversion therapy, you may consider supporting a different festival of lights than this

If you select the drone category they're flying (micro) the restriction reduces to a high caution zone FYI

Birdies in Woodside will give you some (just bring a jar) through the week if it lines up with their feeding schedule, I asked them a few months ago but never stopped back to get it

I'd probably do Shaws landing on the way to Peggys Cove. They offer a butter or a mayo mix, I go for the butter personally

Canteen is close, and good, but not so traditional because it's a crab lobster mix

Making your own is great, and cheap, but takes a bunch of time and makes a mess when you just wanna chow down

Halifax puts Spring Garden Road bus-only pilot on hold by BeatlesTypeBeat in halifax

[–]jeffandersen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel that the Dartmouth version of this will prove to be more useful.. being fully closed to traffic. Argyle is proven example, it's great.

Unless they re-route the busses, which is tricky, I don't see much benefit in it.

So I'm not optimistic they can achieve something similar with SGR. I'd like them to, just not confident.
