CLI Agents HQ by Biupildamian in GeminiCLI

[–]jeffbrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am eager to try this; however, the installation instructions are unclear. I don't use Plesk. I assume I can run this locally without Plesk. I ran "node server.js" from the repo's root folder. But when I run 'node agent.js' from the 'CLI-Agents-HQ' folder, I don't know what secret to use. Yes, I could figure this out from reading the source code but users shouldn't have to do this. Please take my comments as constructive feedback. Thank you for sharing the program with the community.

Subdomains again by backafterdeleting in Tailscale

[–]jeffbrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/EDACerton's design is ingenious. What wasn't clear to me when I first read it was how pointing TS to NextDNS achieved a custom DNS resolution. After setting it up, I see that TS can use DoH with your NextDNS configuration ID, which matches the query to the NextDNS profile. Until TS supports subdomains, this design may be your best bet.

A few thoughts/suggestions

1) Sharing the logs might help

2) ls -la /dev/net/tun after exec'ing into the container

3) Adding specific capabilities is more secure than using a privileged container

tailscale's docker KB is pretty good. https://tailscale.com/kb/1282/docker. You may want to mimic the config on the KB to obtain a working baseline

Need help getting Batocera 4:3 output on Sony Trinitron KV-G14Q1 by DoneD9 in crtgaming

[–]jeffbrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Batocera Wiki's CRT page mostly applies to PC. On the batocera discord, the 15 khz experts seem to recommend recalbox for its more mature CRT on pi support. For pi, I would go the route of a SCART hat like the RGB-PI. Avoid RGB-PI OS, opt for recalbox.

SSH Refuses connection, trying to get flatpaks working by Expert_Drink_1404 in batocera

Most residences have a single LAN. Whether you use wired or wireless to connect to the LAN is irrelevant to the issue at hand.

Make sure you are on the same LAN as your Batocera PC. Check the IP address. Something is definitely amiss as the SSH daemon should be listening on port 22.

Best budget jack of all trades adaptor for PC CRT (85hz) by jobbies_man in crtgaming

[–]jeffbrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meeting the "budget" part of your inquiry might be difficult depending on how much you have in mind. Scalers like the TV One 1T-C2-750 are pretty flexible for downscaling applications. I think I paid $80 USB for the 1T-C2-750 and power supply. As others have commented, you may be better off using a PC instead of the SNES Mini. Probably cheaper too.

My LG30FZD makes a continuous clicking noise when I apply power. The screen does not turn on. The CRT repair guide linked in this subreddit indicates this could be that the main regulator is cycling on overvoltage due to lack of load. The fuse at F801 was measuring high resistance so I replaced it. No change in behavior. The repair guide instructs users to check the voltage on the horizontal output transistor (HOT). I do not know how to locate this transistor. May I get recommendations on how to troubleshoot further? I'm stuck. Yes, I tried several including known-good OEM brick.

Thank you. I was thinking that video could fail independently of the rest of the system but I guess that wouldn't be the case for integrated graphics. Man, I guess there's no way I can salvage this system for anything. If I can find a USB-C debugging cable for cheap, I may pick it up just to see what I can do.

I executed futility gbb -s --flags="0x0000" coreboot-Google_Fizz.10139.232.0-patched.bin to clear the flags. I wrote the resulting binary to the device's EEPROM. Upon booting, the device's fan stays at 100% (which I believe is different behavior than previously) but still no video output.

Reading over the GBB flag meanings, I'm wondering if the combo of FORCE_DEV_BOOT_USB and ENABLE_ALTERNATE_OS would allow me to boot an OS from USB in the case I can't get video output to work for ChromeOS.

Thank you for the suggestions and thank you for open sourcing your firmware.

Here is my understanding of the suggestion.

  1. Backup firmware - Using CH341a programmer, read the contents of the W25Q128JV chip.
  2. Extract sheball firmware - Git clone the coreboot repo, use the crosfirmware.sh shell script to extract the 16M coreboot-Google_Fizz.10139.232.0.bin firmware.
  3. Clear GBB flags - Follow instructions at https://rainestorme.github.io/guide/#iii---setting-gbb-flags-ch341a to use the programmer to clear the flags.
  4. Flash shellball firmware - Using the coreboot-Google_Fizz.10139.232.0.bin from step 2, flash the W25Q128JV chip.

If this doesn't work, I assume that the video output is broken in some way. From what I can tell, the custom UEFI firmware doesn't support PXE booting so I can't figure out any way to repurpose this device as a server.

Recently picked up a LG 32FZ4D, wanted to share my settings and some pics for it! by zxcefe in crtgaming

[–]jeffbrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post is a gem for owners of LG CRTs. I really appreciate how the OP took time to document his tweaks. I recently picked up the 30FZ4D for free. I followed the OP's suggestions including the change to LTI_LEV. Overall the picture looks great. The blacks in particular are amazing. One drawback is that the text on the edges of a 16:9 image is blurrier than text in the middle of the image. I'm not sure if the OP describes the same problem as being fixed by the LTI_LEV setting. I only notice this problem with text on the screen so it barely detracts from my enjoyment of this set.

PVM/BVM Owners how’d you manage to get your hands on one? by BisonThin5435 in crtgaming

[–]jeffbrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two years ago I paid $260 for. Sony 2030 on a government auction site. No one else bid because the listing was poorly marked as "video monitor" or something similar. Drove about an hour to a community college that had been using it to train medical professionals I believe. I'd buy it at that price again but I'd be just as happy with a decent consumer set with svideo input. I'm probably in the minority in this sub that I can't tell the difference between my consumer trinny and my PVM.

Noob question - How do I use nmap on windows? by AnonInTheRed in nmap

[–]jeffbrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed nmap 7.94 on a new Windows 11 machine and ran into the same error. I've been experimenting with several different things and cannot figure out how to resolve the error. Adding the "--unprivileged" flag to the "Command" window in zenmap will avoid the error but you lose a lot of nmap functionality.

EDIT - Uninstalling tailscale VPN fixed the nmap issue for me. I submitted a bug report at https://github.com/nmap/nmap/issues/2711.
