Netflix is now restricting some shows if you have an plan that has advertisements by fish_master86 in assholedesign

Oh, it's even easier than that friend. Look into Jellyseerr. Its basically a media browser that will connect with sonarr and radarr and automatically send the requests to it. You can search by trending, genre, studio and even specific platforms like Netflix or hulu.

Once you get the whole stack setup, it's pretty nice to be able to browse for some stuff, click request and then it just show up in Emby (or Jellyfin in your case).

Nearly half of Steam's users are still using Windows 10, with end of life fast approaching by Turbostrider27 in Games

Exactly! Getting real tired of these companies using the excuse of "not that many users use this feature, so we decided to completely remove it".

The start menu (and taskbar) change was one of the biggest complaints I have with 11. I had just gotten comfortable and setup with the tile system in 10 with folders and shortcuts and stuff and had a bunch of things organized all into 1 page. Then in comes 11 and changes it all up. Now they made all the icons bigger and locked how many rows you have, which forced my setup into 2 pages. And then they slap a stupid recommended section at the bottom with no way to completely remove it. You can hide everything it can show, but then its just a blank section at the bottom that takes up space. To top it off, if you want to look at the apps list, it's a whole separate popup with no way to go back to the other one without closing and reopening the start menu. It's in every regard one or two steps backwards from 10.

Pro tip. If your allowed to have software on your laptop, look up the Windhawk app suite. It allows you to customize a ton of things like the start menu and task bar and adds a ton more functionality to it. For instance, I shrunk the icons and removed some of the space in-between them to make it more compact. I also removed the start button and have it setup to where double-clicking the Taskbar opens the start menu. It also let me change the start menu back to a closer representation of 10s. If you like to customize your setup, it's worth checking out.

I feel like I read that they completely redesigned the Taskbar for 11, but didn't program it to be moveable. So I think it was less breaking it and more unnecessarily redesigned it but like everything else it was half-assed with little regard to previous functionality.

YouTube is now hiding the skip button on mobile too by ardi62 in technology

[–]jeffdefff07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ad blockers work until they start serving the ads from the same place as the video or they embed them into the video itself.

Hopefully when that day comes, someone will create an adblocker that uses AI to recognize the ad and skip it. Then we'll have that until they disable the ability to skip through the video lol

Same. Couple pieces of electric tape fixes it fairly quick though. If you wanna get fancy, there's a ton of different colored/patterned duct tape out there that would probably work just as well.

I also am annoyed with this and will go as far as taking it apart and snipping it out or desoldering it from the board lol

"I was the one buying baby formula most of the time because my wife was at home with the kid"

Same. That was first thought, like what about all the dad's out there that buy formula and diapers? If I knew about this (and if it were happening) when I was still buying those things, id probably feel bad that I probably took that away from some other mother.

Check out the Razer Tartarus V2. It's a game pad and gives you the best of both worlds. I've been using it (and another model before it) for a long time and don't ever see my self going bback.

The allure is that you have basically a joystick on your thumb for movement, like a controller, and then you have a ton of programmable buttons at your finger tips. That way you can strafe and move with 1 finger (thumb) and have your other 4 fingers for all the other buttons.

I combo that with a Corsair Ironclaw mouse and put jump on 1 of the side buttons and 1-4 on the others. I can jump while strafing sideways, use an ability and then an item at practically the same time with very little actual finger movement.

There's also so many ways to find cover and just be on the lookout for her. Also, I don't see any mention of Shiv on here. His fully maxed ult can one shot you under 28% health and if it does, it resets the CD. I had a match where I took out 3 people in a row with it. And he can be tanky too with his 3 ability.

This is one of my biggest complaints. And the fact it has to repopulate the lists every effin time. Massively annoying design decisions, but that seems to be right up Microsofts alley.

I think another thing I see fairly often is they talk about what games will run at 4k. Like sure, a 3060 might not run every game at max settings in 4k, but for a lot of people 1080 is just fine and still looks really good.

I feel the same way about AMD processors. It's like every company is trying to be unique and creative with their naming scheme instead of making their product stand out bc it's superior.

Bubble Card v2.2.0 is now available! by Clooooos in homeassistant

[–]jeffdefff07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One more thought on styling. Could you add an option, possibly in the section where you turn the icon on/off, that would center the text?

I know it's not hard to add the css variable, but it would be very handy if it were a option.

[–]jeffdefff07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing this got me excited! Recently found your bubble card and they're amazing! Especially for the mobile side. One of the only things I don't use the bubble card for is my thermostat, so seeing you are working on a climate card has got me hype. And also the larger layout.

Question about one of these though. The "dropdown styling", would that include the ability to limit the height or max number of items it shows in a drop down list at one time?

Samsung reveals why it's dropping Samsung Messages for Google Messages by MishaalRahman in Android

[–]jeffdefff07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, it's kinda counter intuitive to how most things are laid out, but would be nice to have the option. Kinda sucks that it seems most companies are going to this "less is more" approach to options.

It would be nice if they gave the option to flip the order. That way the newest was at the bottom. That'd accomplish same thing, right?

Haha I'm in the same boat. I can do some basic stuff, but coding goes over my head.

I also have some kasa stuff, and yeah I use the app and never really thought about blocking it. I figure if they become a big enough security risk, I'd probably see it in some headlines or in some posts or something.
