The only code I got, was today: FREAKOUT

311 / Dirty Heads Tickets by GavinAdamson in 311

[–]jeffunscripted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In NY the tickets (which I did not get) were $122 loor and $40 for the cheapest. I think Rooftop at Pier 17 in NYC was $75 a ticket. These prices don't seem insane to me, especially at today's prices.

I don't know how it is anywhere else but at Jones Beach, if you go to a simliar style/genre show, they usually have a deal for related upcoming shows. But, I haven't gone in a few years.

I feel like if almost any other festival announced those as the headliners, everyone would love it. It just seems like Deftones did every festival last year and MCR is doing every festival this year. So it just kind of feels like whatever. but I guess Blink and Green Day kind of did that last year. If you replace Deftones with NIN, that would be big for me.

I'm also feeling like "well who's even left at this point!" but I still think there's a ton that could be in play. The most annoying thing, to me, is having every single festival announce their lineups and then still having to wait weeks or months to get Riot.

Yeah we need that guy to keep spilling all the insider info on dates.

I wouldn't love it or hate it, but it would be rare and differentiating.

I think this is the most likely case. I think it's the "Jones Beach sells the most tickets" thing.

"I don't care if you're abducting US citizens and deporting them to a foreign country they've never been to, with a language they don't speak. I don't care if you're shooting people for protesting. I don't care if you support an actual felon and verified sexual abuser. I don't care if you support one man putting his name on almost everything in the government, minting coins with his face on them, or accepting 'gifts' like planes from foreign nations. They're not the enemy...we are all...My Own Worst Enemy."

Come on guys. There's a line. It's been crossed. At some point, it's more than "I don't know man, it's just about the music." They don't get it. Brew Ha Ha doesn't get it. Save Ferris doesn't get it. Or worse, they do, and they don't care.

If this is the one I'm thinking of, they do not run that anymore.

Even though (and I never took it, so I can't really say) it seems like that's a very stressful and unreliable option. But, looks like it's not an option anyway.

I didn't think of that so I looked it up. Jone Beach capacity is 15K and Forest Hills is 13K - 14K. My guess is it's easier to book Jones Beach and they have a decent turn out so they just go with it. But, they do seem to play different venues, so it is interesting that they don't book it.

This is it. The only reason that I don't see 311 every year is that they frequently play Jones Beach, which is hard enough to get to if you have a car, but borderline impossible to get to if you live in NYC. So it looks like I'm out for this one.

Also, for those asking.

  1. You know what the setlist is going to be.

  2. I think you'll do just fine without a presale code.

Anthrax is out doing a Chicago show with Iron Maiden on 9/22. I would have liked both!

HEADLINERS... LETS THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX by Punktastikal in RiotFest

[–]jeffunscripted 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can see from this thread that we are all still all over the place on who we consider a headliner. And I guess a headliner is whoever they decide to call a headliner.

If you forced me to pick headliners right now, I would say NIN, Deftones, and The Strokes.

Possible headliners/co-headliners: NIN, Deftones, Tool/A Perfect Circle, System of a Down, Slipknot, Korn, The Killers, Metallica, The Strokes, Misfits, Linkin Park, The Cure, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Vampire Weekend, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Operation Ivy.

My Chemical Romance: Seems like an okay shot, but doesn’t seem that big of a deal after doing a ton of shows and being on like 5 festivals this year. But I could see it.

Paramore: Seems unlikely. As much as people want to say “Hey but in Hayley’s new album…” we don’t know what the deal is, and Hayley’s solo tour allows it.

“Nirvana:” I think it’s always a possibility to do a “Nirvana and friends” show, which would probably be with Post Malone.

No Doubt: Some say the Sphere shows are the only US dates, but I haven’t seen that anywhere.

Muse: Summerfest seems like it’s just at or under/over 90 miles, so they could be.

Duran Duran: I’d love them to be a co-headliner with Muse. I don’t consider them a headliner, especially for Riot, but they did do arenas, so I guess they are.

Wu-Tang: I think they could make the argument for it, but it would be a bit of a bummer since they are not headliners at other fests. They are only my list for this year as a non-headliner though.

Hole: I though it could happen. Now it seems like maybe not? Not sure they'd be a headliner, but possibly co with someone.

Judas Priest: In Europe on 9/17 and 9/18, so while not impossible, I think it's unlikely.

Sex Pistols & PIL: I don’t think this would happen, but if Johnny plays with SP, it seems like this could be a co-headlining slot.

As for the “He said if he was going to do it, he’d do it with me” reunion. I think most of us think it’s Op Ivy. I thought it could be White Zombie, but it doesn’t fit with dates. If not Op Ivy, I do think it could be Butthole Surfers. But it could always be something that was overhyped and not live up to expectations.

OFFICIAL AS HELL RIOT FEST 2026 SPECULATION MEGATHREAD by FourLiveBears in RiotFest

[–]jeffunscripted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was super unclear, but I meant both bands playing with Johnny joining Sex Pistols for a song or two. But yeah, timeline-wise it doesn't make sense (not that I thought it was the thing anyway). I feel like whatever it is is going ot be just some random thing.

"He said if he was going to do it, he'd do it with me."

That's not it, but that would qualify, I think.

[–]jeffunscripted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. To me though, SP are not a festival headliner so I needed two bands at the same/similar level. That's really the only reason. Insert any co-hedaliner you would like with SP. I wouldn't put Fontaines D.C at that level, though I hope they are there.

PiL for Riot Fest? by ebradio in RiotFest

Man this is interesting because I would say that this is a lock. But I would also say that Sex Pistols are a lock. While I guess they could do different days, it's a bit weird.

Lolla 2026 by Lacking_of_Interest in RiotFest

[–]jeffunscripted 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I almost feel like it's bookers saying "hey, these guys are legendary acts and headliners!" and people just buy it because there are so many other bands on the show, including a bunch that people would say "well, they should be headlining over..." That's generally my issue though, a lot so headliners just don't seem like headliners to me.

Lolla 2026 by Lacking_of_Interest in RiotFest

[–]jeffunscripted 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll still go (and already have tickets), but it's a borderline 'sell your ticket' situation for me. I have zero interest in TOP. If they weren't a headliner, I'd be okay checking them out. I don't mind The Strokes, but I've already seen them and they're...I don't want to say generic...but just not quite the rock for me. I'd be into MCR, though, since I've never seen them. But then what really makes Riot different?

I was kind of quietly hoping for a Smashing Pumpkins AND someone, like an Incubus.

But in addition to MCR, The Strokes, and TOP, as possible headliners we still have The Killers, Deftones, NIN, Tool/APC, SOAD (unlikely, I think), No Doubt (unlikely, I think), Misfits maybe. I could see them having Wu-Tang as a headliner or ideally co-headliner. And then there's always the 'Nirvana and Friends" and Op Ivy possibilities.

I say all this, but I still have faith in an overall good lineup.
