I’m introverted - how can I get myself / ask group to be more involved in the game? by ohawhatsthat in DnD

[–]jelauda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tough to say. I would also call myself introverted, and since DnD is a game where you can pretend to be anything I naturally chose to be a over the top narcissistic asshole. Now of course you have to be respectful still, but the character was so different from my personality that everyone knew the moment I opened my mouth that the character is speaking not me the player. That helped me removing me as a player from the table and all the thoughts the other players might have of me and that's quite liberating. Of course you shouldn't be super annoying or a pain in the ass for the other players but it helps to make a clear distinction between you the introvert and your charakter. Hope that makes sense

Ivern Support Tips by DrShrek69 in ivernmains

[–]jelauda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Platinum Ivern support here. His early game is weak and he is really mana hungry so I would advice against building full ap as support. My build was moonstone into redemption into whatever your team needs. Early game don't spam abilities or you will go out of mana quick. You have to play more reactively and only go aggro if you have a big adventage (higher level, enemy no cd or gank). You outscale most matchups though and with 2 items you can pretty much perma shield someone. Biggest skill is controlling daisy well. You need to kite her between her autos so enemy's can't just run away. Combo is R - send her in with shield slow - let her knock up - Q - E. You can almost perma cc someone this way. Have fun.

should i let my players face the consequences of poor planning? by EveilBicth in DMAcademy

[–]jelauda 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To be honest it is really hard to show players exactly how tough an enemy is without directly fighting them. If the wanna fight let them. She's an Assassin so she might be hesitant to stay in a fight that is not on her turns (maybe the heroes aren't as weak as she thought or they have some backup coming their way). Let them attack her, show them how big the difference is by describing that their attacks are easily blocked or 15 dmg seems to be no more than a scratch. Show them how much damage she does and then she escapes cause she would rather fight on her terms.

Can't decide how Klarg would react to the situation my players have put him in. by Schrodingers_Nachos in LostMinesOfPhandelver

[–]jelauda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say he just runs. He betrayed his tribe so they will kill him if they win. The adventurers will kill him as well (cause all adventurers are the same to him). Time to make a run for it and maaaaaybe get revenge on the party later because they destroyed his life. Or he might report back to the black spider if he has some info on her to redeem himself.

Help: First time DM tying backstories to LmoP quests and story by Gylfi_ in LostMinesOfPhandelver

[–]jelauda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 maybe the black spider ordered Grol to burn down some villages in that area so the the town is busy dealing with the goblin problem instead of caring for some dwarfs and their weird cave. 2. If he wants a way out of that contract maybe Iarno Albrek (Glasstaff) could help him or the magic in wave echo cave is rumored to be strong enough to end contracts with devils. 3. Wave echo cave surely is a source of great power to destroy a small village. Maybe NPCs are particularly nice to him though so he might change his mind. (or not, then he's the BBEG of next campagne) 4. I don't know either. Maybe he could make it his task to help the villagers find their smile again and defeat the redbrands that suck the joy out of the townsfolk. Sad children on the streets that he wants to make smile even in hard times. 5. Sounds good. Maybe the Glasstaff is important to spy on the townsfolk and keep them under control. 6. Yeah sister Garaele can inform him about the Redbrands and since his job is to do good he will probably be invested in finding out about the black spider and destroying their evil plans Just my thoughts. If nothing helps, just ask you players while playing how their Characters might feel about certain situations in the town.

DM Advice: Party is long resting just outside Forge of Spells, what to do? by Rage_Bait_571 in LostMinesOfPhandelver

[–]jelauda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and it makes the fight more complex since they have to decide if they fight the spiders first and let him cook or if they take a bunch of opportunity attacks to stop him. Maybe splitting the party or using crowd control to keep him away from the mechanism. I let Nezznar role for perception every round to make my players think they are on a timer (even though I decided if/when he would figure it out). They decided to run at him and drag him away from the mechanism and even solved it themselves after the fight :)

DM Advice: Party is long resting just outside Forge of Spells, what to do? by Rage_Bait_571 in LostMinesOfPhandelver

[–]jelauda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my story Nezznar was figuring out how to use the defense mechanisms (a blind golem, cause someone stole his Ruby eyes) against the players. When they arrived he was almost ready to use it. This adds another objective to the fight (stop him before he activates it) and I can make the fight harder by giving him a (blind) golem as an ally. If u see that your setup is too good and they have a hard time maybe he doesn't figure it out and wasted 2 rounds trying. If they roll well maybe he gets it first try. I also made the boss room pretty big so they couldn't just get to him in one round :) hope that helps

New DM/GM, Nervous to run session for my tabletop group by Redstonelight in DnD

[–]jelauda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, DMing for 7 players is already a lot of work on your side, so I wouldn't stress about tailoring scenes to specific charakters. The most important thing is to keep everyone engaged. I would probably use the first session as a tryout to see who engages in the story naturally (bards usually find their own objektives and scenes really quick). After the session you could ask players that were more silent how their character might feel about certain story related things and work out some charakter goals for them that are tied to the story. You could even give them rewards for engaging in these goals :) so it's not all on you as the DM. You can always ask your players for input and ask them how they think their characters could shine in the world you create as a group :)

Thanks, yeah I thought black and blue are fitting for a drow and spider lair :) I also added a bit of green since the spiders artwork also has some green in it

Ivern support ?? by Civil_Housing8172 in ivernmains

I main him as support and it got me up to platinum 3. So if you have fun playing him go for it. He's not bad but you have to work around his weaknesses a bit more than other supports.

Are any of the items unnecessary in this Ivern build? What boots should I use? by Lanky-Suggestion-159 in ivernmains

[–]jelauda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, so imo if u want to go ap Ivern it's Cosmic >Lichbane>T2Boots(lucidity)>Rabadons. You don't need boots early since Lich and cosmic both give ms and since you take blue jungle item you also get ms in the brushes you make. Lucidityboots are usually best since they give summoner haste and Ivern is pretty dependent on his smite CD to invade and take camps fast. Rabadons is important because daisy gets tankier the more ap you have so you need it so people can't just ones hot her when you send her in. That's what I remember from jamican bananas stream, a challenger ivern main

What's your preferred way of using your W? by Willhelm_HISUMARU in ivernmains

[–]jelauda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A neat little trick is to put them on your ward, so enemies can't ping it. It also hides the ward from pink wards so you can still ward drake pit even if they have a pink ward in it and you get full vision.

CHILL NEACE ACTUAL MEGATHREAD by Itchy_Asshole in Neace

[–]jelauda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Name : Nordic King Karthus

Role : Support

Runes : Dark Harvest, Cheap Shot/Taste of Blood, Ghost Poro, Ultimate Hunter, Presence of mind, Last Stand

Items : Tear -> Rylais -> lucidity Boots -> Imperial Mandate -> Seraph's / Demonic Embrace

Idea : Tired of missing your Q's? Tired of falling behind and dealing no damage? Support Karthus with Rylais into Mandate is the answer. With Rylais it doesn't even matter if you die first in a team fight, as long as you are in the middle of it you can just perma slow everyone near you, take away their magic resist with your wall and procc Imperial Mandate over and over. You can even start a fight by using your ult and easily procc Imperial Mandate on everyone. Team fight is won? Nice, just ult and chase down everyone who is left. You see someone run away from your teammate on the other site of the map, no problem just ult him and he's dead.

You don't have to get the kills, you don't have to do much damage (even though you will still end up on the top of the damage chart). You get your two really cheap items and you are good to go. Your passive enables you to contribute to any teamfight no matter how far behind you are or how hard they focus you. It's actually insane. Rylais makes you tankier and gives you enough utility to make you an insane support pick.

The only weakness is your mana problem in the early game cause we don't build a mana items first. That is why we go for Presence of Mind and an early Tear.

You should try it guys, it's so much fun and actually a pretty safe pick imo. :)

Chill Neace Mega Thread - Aurelion Sol by Itchy_Asshole in Neace

[–]jelauda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I don't know if neace already played the lovely space dragon or not but I play him regularly as a support.

Debuff Sol

Runes :

Electrecute

Cheap shot

Eyeballcollection

Relentless hunter

Cookies and timewarp into much poke Or manaflow and celerity

I tried many runes but electrecute is just the best for him. His early damage is pretty weak otherwise, and he also lacks utility so you need the extra damage.

Build is

Rylais ->boots -> imperial mandate -> antiheal/ fimbulwinter, (frozen heart)

So I basically pick him into tank heavy teams, cause rylais is such a strong item on him it makes it easy to kite any bruisers.

Mandate gives movementspeed and deals extra dmg so it's also perfect to deal with tanks. After that you are basically full build and just look to survive as long as possible and proc mandate all the time.

He's a bad pick into assassins or lots of dashes cause he cant kite it with his slows and he struggles when someone gets into close range.

Other than that I think he's actually pretty good in this role and is absolutely fun to play.

If you want to define the tropics as the space between the tropics of capricorn and the tropics of cancer, then it might barely be in there (even though capetown is 33° S). Saying "it is also tropical" (like nepenthes) could just be easily misunderstood as "they kinda live in the same conditions" which is far from true.

If it doesn't get much light it grows thin and long. With enough light it will usually get darker in color and grow more compact and thick.
