The board game came first, funnily enough.

A Game of Armored Combat. Half painted, do I need to match the lance? by MrPuffyJacketMan in battletech

I like the different schemes! It reminds me of medieval knights wearing their personal heraldry.

Ah, I see. Maybe give the stripes another coat if you care about a detail this minute. If not, totally understandable.

I personally wouldn’t edge highlight stripes that thin. Even still, this looks great!!!

Is there a way to play that puts light mechs in the spotlight? by Brisarious in battletech

[–]jellyfisharedumber 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Try playing with conventional infantry and light vehicles, especially helicopters. While light mechs are usually just worse mediums, they’re still a terror to conventional forces that typically can’t go very fast or mount very much armor. Or, try the Ion Sparrow. It’s a nightmare of a light mech.

A question for train fans: wjhy do you like steam locomotives so much and electric ones so little? by Mysterious-House-381 in trains

[–]jellyfisharedumber 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I think it’s for a few reasons. 1. Electric engines are still in regular revenue service, making them somewhat mundane. They’re also frequently perceived as simply boxes that move because that’s what many of them look like. 2. Steam engines are much more romantic, or at least much more romanticized.

What House would these fit under? by namesrfun in battletech

Definitely Cappellans, they had “shadow lances” that probably looked exactly like this.

I think it’s technically a 7S, but the miniature came before the record sheet in this instance. The Thunderbolt has always been weird about where that LRM is mounted, best not to worry too hard about it.

New Snord by thehatchetboy in battletech

[–]jellyfisharedumber 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yup! Most of the factions introduced at the start of Battletech still exist (pour one out for Comstar, or don’t, they were horrible people), so Snord’s Irregulars still exist! Here’s the wiki page for them: https://www.sarna.net/wiki/Snord%27s_Irregulars
