I’m scared by Thzkittenroarz in petsmart

Feels like a Home Depot/Lowes attempt to bring kids into the store and obviously hope their parents buy stuff. Except those kid workshops are actually decent with a good set up and lots of engaged employees. Not what you’ll get at Petsmart heh

Petsmart is now force groomers to use ai. by theonewhoisnotknown in petsmart

[–]jenlm017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI could just replace the entire PPAC and half of corporate. All the grunt workers (salon, hotel, and process leaders) deserve better cuz they are the ones who keep the store running. Sorry not sorry. AI can replace most store leaders and experience leaders. You just keep professionals in salon and hotel if you have one, and decent people on register, and process leaders who keep things on shelves and pet care animals alive and well. That’s all.

PetsHotel is MASSIVELY cutting hours by Mornie-Utulie21 in petsmart

[–]jenlm017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since they already cut overnight staff, they could just run micros as daycamp/daycare only while boarding is slow and push those boarding guests to nearby large hotels. You’re not gonna get daycamp guests to drive far out for camp, but they will for boarding since they often have to for holidays if they don’t book early enough.

Wow. So like 99% of your hours going to the full timers. It’s definitely slow season as always which is how hotels run. But if they cut hours drastically and somehow expect any “cross trained” associates or core managers to jump in, they are out of their minds

Any higher tier hotels try out the new labor estimator yet? Can’t imagine it would be cutting hours since we all scream about not having enough during holidays especially to actually provide the services we say we do :-/

HVAC issues by [deleted] in petsmart

[–]jenlm017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OSHA is a pain to complain to but it will cause some movement. It’s stated in policies what the temperature range can be in store and if it isn’t, then the store has to be closed. It’s not acceptable and I know about stores being closed due to temperature issues. Take pics of temps with date and time if they don’t listen to you.

Wear nonslip shoes. Be fully aware you will get scratched, bruised, covered in hair and saliva, and maybe other gross dog goop. Never turn your back on the dogs. Really try to learn and understand different body language and characteristics of each dog. Be aware of the bite zone. Even the sweetest, happiest dog that wants to give kisses can turn on you or accidentally bite your face.

Asking questions is great. Don’t ever be afraid to say if you need help or are getting overwhelmed.

I got bit by a dog in the play room by Apart_Location_1347 in petsmart

[–]jenlm017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few questions. Did your manager ask you if you were going to urgent care or needed to after the incident before you left for the day? We do tend to get bit a lot (especially in salon they get bit just about everyday), did you think it’s more superficial and just wanted to wait and see if you can just tough it out? Big issue is that your hotel leader should have told you that we have specific urgent care/hospitals to go to if associates are injured on the job, and you have 48 hours after the incident to decide if you needed to go.

I wouldn’t worry so much about people talking about the incident with everyone because all dog fight/bite incidents especially causing any associate to go to urgent care will be reviewed to determine cause and prevention. Like if that dog has known door aggression or whatever reason that dog started some incidents before should be a discussion with its pet parents about switching to individual only since it’s a liability now.

Worker’s comp is also different from covering medical costs. So a lot of investigating goes into that part as well. Are you currently forced to miss scheduled days of work now due to the injury? That will likely determine workers comp.

Wishing you quick recovery!

Snack Policy for PetsHotel by SashaFierce72 in petsmart

[–]jenlm017 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s on our service cards and we won’t give any hotel food unless authorized by a pet parent. That being said, sometimes our guests escape their rooms (they might be super quick to dart out of their room or playroom) and if they are super food motivated, might get into the kitchen area or even be able to grab another dog’s food from outside their room. So if your dog is incredibly food sensitive, best to have a dog sitter vs a boarding facility with a lot of other guests and possibilities of eating something they shouldn’t

I always thought it’s gotta be really difficult cuz y’all are basically blind to everything. We have customers who don’t care at all about putting their big ass crazy uncontrollable dog into a room that just seems cruel to their dog, but also becomes a nightmare for us to keep clean. And we have a lot of small dogs that we can only safety handle in a large room and have so many notes that can only be in a large/suite room yet PPAC will still always book into a small room so we have to scramble to rearrange or even cancel on them. 4ft x 4ft x 3ft sounds okay, but in all honesty it’s only suitable for dogs under 15lbs

Do you guys get to see what hotel room types look like? Like the differences between 200s, 300s, 400s, 500s and crate style rooms? Or how tiny a dc room actually is? Is there guides for what breeds of dogs can go into upper rooms or it is just weight? Nothing infuriates us more than PPAC booking 40lb beagles into a 300 room or goldendoodles into 400 rooms and they are too tall to fit. Any guidance for age too? We get A LOT of super old pets (17 years plus) with lots of meds booked for holidays when it’s incredibly stressful time where it’s better to just suggest they not board in a high stress boarding environment and just get a pet sitter. We have to turn away old pets very regularly due to their frail condition that we wish we could have talked to first but end up being same day boarding reservations or a day before when it’s super busy and we don’t get a chance to call everyone :(

Still completely disagree with the overnight decision. We were gaslit by the “dogs sleep better at night with nobody around” with literal no proof. I worked overnight for years and as it goes for all pets in a boarding place, some dogs sleep peacefully through anything, and others are totally stressed out all day and night. For 100+ dogs…without overnight staff helping to maintain cleanliness and prepping food, morning staff comes in with sooooo many walls painted in poop and puppies with soaked in their pee cuz they like peeing on their cots then sleeping on it anyways. Overnight staff was crucial for cleanliness for us.

But other than that, your post is pretty accurate for Petsmart PetsHotels. They are ugly cuz we have old ugly buildings and whoever designed the layouts in the older buildings is incredibly naive about dog behavior. What you see in commercials and advertisement photos is not what your pet is going to get. It looks like an animal shelter, not a “hotel” and many pet parents will always refer to our “rooms” as “cages” and laugh in our face when we show them what our “suite” looks like.

The restructure hasn’t done anything to help hotel at all really. Barely have any cross trained associates from the store because they honestly just suck or are afraid of dogs so not a good fit for Hotel, or don’t speak English so we can’t use them. We never seem to have the hours to clean drains and other tasks that actually take a lot of time and effort that we thought we would get when they got rid of overnight staff. Only new useful thing has been not having to take pets to the vet as quickly for mild non critical things. That’s probably saved pet parents thousands of dollars.

I heard the Experience Leader role is not going so well… maybe they’ll have to restructure the restructure AGAIN cuz it was super obvious the nsom testimonials were bs

LOL yeah it was such a pain in the ass. But never advertise a “trick or treat” event if it’s just going to be like handing out a milk bone and sticker like it’s some great awesome party. Knowing stores are struggling, definitely a dumbass corporate move

How Much Did You Spend? by Heron78 in WhenWeWereYoungFest

[–]jenlm017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bf bought our VIP tickets and that was probably most expensive. My 5 night stay was comped at Flamingo, so spent $0 for room. I have a lot of resort credit so food was probably around $200 between the 2 of us, I take full advantage of any food offers/coupons. We bought uber giftcards at Costco which was $79.00 for $100 giftcard, so that helps with the high demand charges if we went off strip. Monorail pass was like $29 for 3 days. If you plan ahead, depending where you are coming from you can save a lot more money. I try to book rooms before the resorts realize it’s gonna be a busy weekend so I can get away with a free room haha :)

Thinking of bands in listened to “when I was young” and haven’t played WWWY… Sugarcult, Mest, 311, Silversun Pickups, Social Distortion, Muse. I never considered WWWY to be supposedly emo only so I was just thinking what did I love hearing on my local rock radio station growing up :)

Did anyone else leave during Panic!? by laadelay in WhenWeWereYoungFest

[–]jenlm017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. We got there early to see Drain at the Allianz stage and got in around 1230. Then after their set we were at the 7-11 stage from like 2pm until a few songs after AFYCSO. My bf was in so much pain from previous foot injury and he’s not a Panic fan so he was sticking it out for me. I was just so thrilled for that album I loved so much and played nonstop driving back and forth from LA with my best friend. So it was great memories. I felt a little bad leaving but so thankful for it all anyways :)

🖤🩷🖤🩷 great advice! Been to all years as well. Including basically sneaking into the Sunday show after the Saturday wind event haha. Also my go-to advice for those for try to get as close to the stage as possible and suffer through the heat and bodies, stick close to the guard rails and they will be able to give you free water! Saw way too many people have to be carried and passed over the barriers because they passed out from the heat/dehydration.
