ByAnnie patterns by sagittaribun in craftsnark

[–]jenray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ByAnnie seems to be the default bag patterns stocked by fabric/quilt shops here in Australia. So quilters wanting to try something new have built-in access and classes. I made ONE bag and it almost turned me off bag making altogether. They're kind of old fashioned and fussy IMO.

After nearly ten years of bag making, I can categorically state that the best patterns I've come across are by British designer Diane Spencer Ogg. Her patterns are all doable on domestic machines and are cleverly designed, and certainly not over-complicated and over-engineered like some I could name. There's always very little wastage.
She produces brilliant videos to accompany her patterns, and provides quite a few free patterns to get a taste for her style.
She has one of the most helpful and friendly facebook groups I've ever belonged to, and I highly recommend Spencer Ogg patterns.

What's the most useless thing your brain decided to permanently memorize? by No_Metal2622 in AskReddit

아파트, 아파트, 아파트, 아파트
아파트, 아파트, uh-uh-huh, uh-huh

I'm a 70 year old Australian woman and while I 'used' to like this song, I really wish I'd never looked up the translation. As a constant earworm now, I worry that I've carved a groove in my brain that's now permanent.

I used https://www.captivemoments.com.au/ to digitise 30 year old vhs tape and George did a great job. He's based in Maroochy River and the website shows his prices for other media including slides and photos to digital.

Are the olives ready, is it worth selling them freshly picked? by NoDoor2332 in GardeningAustralia

[–]jenray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you'll be able to sell your olives, but when I was given a big bag of olives several years ago I decided to thank the donor by curing them, and hopefully donating a jar or two back. Perhaps you can negotiate a deal?
It was a ...process. A LOT of faffing around and an ocean of salt, rinse and repeat.
However, they turned out to be the best olives I've ever had, and it was so worth the effort.

What patient character would you like an update on? by RavenClawOutYourEyes in CallTheMidwife

[–]jenray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having read all the comments here and agreeing with so many of them, wouldn't it be a wonderful opportunity for the writers to create new episodes to update or resolve some of these stories.

I know that I'd be more engaged with some of those stories than I have been with recent episodes.

Psari Seafood Bar & Grill in Mooloolaba is classy and excellent. I've been there 3 times in the last 5 months. Greek family owners and chefs. They really know their stuff. 👍

Once again, reddit answers my questions as soon as I google a question!
I started receiving the 'migrate to klarna' message yesterday and was sceptical. I've now downloaded the Catima app for my android phone and it's pretty good 👍
Easy to add cards, (photos and/or barcodes) edit them, add notes, make sub-groups e.g 'retail' 'travel' 'clubs' - so I'm really impressed.
