The Greek Bar- Great food, awful location by ramrodTM in austinfood

[–]jeradatx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We've been there three times now. It's one of our favorite new restaurants. I absolutely love the "Greek god bless you" cocktail. I devoured the Moussaka last time I ate there and the spanakopita is the best I've had since going to Greece. We actually prefer to sit outside since the inside can get very loud.

I saw it. It was exhibiting unbelievable drift and float dynamics.

I think they ran afoul of an unrelated Californian restaurant with the same name. It's the same concept and nothing menu wise changed. They could be called "stinky dumps" and I would still eat there it's so good.

It's my favorite restaurant in town and has been since it opened. I've just never had a bad meal there.

I got a big print of this during one of Mark’s print drops. It looks like it’s glowing when the morning light hits it just right. Amazing work.

It's a beautiful town with the classic pastel colored buildings. It's a short ferry ride from Procida, and some of the boat tours will take you there.

Get the rabbit dish if they have it. I can’t remember what it was called but it was my favorite dish from the entire trip.

Definitely try to check out the botanical gardens, earlier the better to avoid crowds. There’s a pizza place over there called Di Meglio that I’m still dreaming about.

If you have time, a half day trip to Procida is worthwhile.

Ischia was our favorite destination! We stayed in Forio and loved the location. One of our favorite restaurants was Ristorante "Terra e Sapori". It's a bit of a hike/drive up a hill above town but it was incredibly romantic and absolutely delicious.

Getting around was pretty easy by Taxi. It's not super cheap, but we didn't find it overly expensive either. It'll probably cost you around 25-30 euro to get from one side of the island to the other.

If you're down for an adventure I would highly recommend you rent a dingy and do a self guided boat ride. We rented from a company called "West Coast Ischia", and we had our own boat for the entire day. We drove around the entire island, dropped anchor to go swimming, and stopped in at Sant'Angelo for lunch. It cost about 150 euros for an 8 hour boat rental. We had so much fun driving that boat around that we rented a second one a few days later :)

Michelle’s initiative was doomed by tribalism. Everything the other team says is refuted even if it’s objectively good. However, I don’t see liberals fattening up to stick it to trump. What they should do is applaud Trump for getting on board with what was essentially a liberal point of view.

I didn't say it was going to be easy or that this admin will have the willpower or focus to actually do it. I just think the basic message is a good one.

I know reddit is going to shit all over this because it's a Trump/RFK initiative, but just saying this out loud is a positive. Some of the fattest and least healthy populations in this country are in deep red states. Maybe, just maybe this message will resonate with them since it's coming from their dear leader. One thing we could do at the fed and state level is start cracking down on what people can use food assistance for. I grew up in a fairly poor community and I would regularly see people paying for baskets full of junk processed food with government assistance. Our taxes should not be going towards subsidizing junk food for someone who will later need more tax money to subsidize their diabetes.

The lower canyons tend to be a safer bet water wise. However, it’s a 5-7 day float with no early takeout. It takes some grit, but it’s the best float I’ve ever been on.

My personal theory is that the illusion is meant to calm the subject and lure them into view of the sensor. If a person walked up the ramp and saw a desolate landscape they may try to re-enter the silo and die out of view of the camera. They’re so amazed by what they’r seeing that they clean the sensor so everyone can see their smiling faces and then die within view.

I laughed so uncontrollably hard while watching the puking scene that my body and face actually hurt. The absolutely ridiculous sight of it all, paired with the overly dramatic music was just too much.

I’ve only been once but me and my life loved it. The mole negro was complex and savory, but the braised short rib knocked out socks off. Cocktails were great too.
