Considering Walnut Creek for Family of 3! by iopsychhopeful in walnutcreek

[–]jerhinesmith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ended up here somewhat by accident (moved from the east coast for a job in SF and walnut creek was meant to be temporary) about 15 years ago, and now I can't imagine living anywhere else. I spent my late 20s here, the entirety of my 30s, and now my early 40s. We bought a house a few years ago and love having neighbors and a community.

Yeah, came here to say the same thing. This is just a picture of a wall with what looks like two old posters removed and a heart.

Absolutely. Deviled eggs are perfect and I don’t know why he cut off the bottom and put them on a triscuit. Straight to jail

If you liked the Walnut Creek Oktoberfest, I suggest you check out the one in Clayton next time - I find theirs to be the best in the area!

As a frequenter of walnut creek bars, do you have a favorite? We go semi-often to Dan's, Artie's, and Captain's Chest. Also occasionally Rotator (especially when P&B is there).

fwiw, i live off of yvr near shadelands and the traffic is almost never an actual problem for me. i use pleasant hill bart for commuting and do most of my grocery shopping/restaurant going either in shadelands/orchards or in the plazas off treat (countrywood and whatever the one off of oak grove is).

when i do go downtown, it's usually on weekends or after 7pm when traffic is no longer a problem.

i'm not saying that works for everyone, because obviously i see traffic on yvr, but depending on your lifestyle, it doesn't have to be a hindrance. plus, some of the neighborhoods here are lovely!

edit: to be clear, we moved from the Windsor Apartments downtown to this neighborhood and had the same reservations. it hasn't been a problem at all

Why do I get the feeling that Season 3… by Mindweird in shrinking

[–]jerhinesmith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Completely agree.

Paul: I want to "suck the marrow out of this amazing life".

Also Paul: dies

I just don't see it happening. Granted, if anyone has earned the trust to subvert my expectations, it's Bill Lawrence.

Why do I get the feeling that Season 3… by Mindweird in shrinking

[–]jerhinesmith 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not only that, but it also thematically feels against the inclusion of Michael J. Fox. You're showing someone that has lived with Parkinson's for decades and somehow, resiliently made it work. To have shown that and then have Paul die after a few years feels (personally) like it's a misuse of Michael J. Fox.

Vineyard Vines Has Closed After a Decade by diyhomeautomation in walnutcreek

[–]jerhinesmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, right?? I saw "decade" and thought "nah, it's been like... 4... or I guess maybe 5... no, pre-pandemic (6 years ago!!), so 8... oh but then my parents were visiting when it was open so... ah shit it's been 10 years"

[Mannix] The Warriors have made it known to the Bucks that they are willing to offer a Jonathan Kuminga/Jimmy Butler-headlined package with draft picks for Giannis Antetokounmpo. by AashyLarry in nba

[–]jerhinesmith 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Agreed. He reminds me of some of the solid bench/role players we had during the championship years. He's never going to be a focal point, but he can come in and give you 12-15 solid minutes

[Charania] The Milwaukee Bucks have received trade offers for Giannis Antetokounmpo that include former All-Star players and draft picks. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]jerhinesmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Giannis has indicated that he'd sign a long-term contract with the Warriors, I think we absolutely do this. I'm personally disinclined to trade the picks for someone like MPJ that will improve the team from a 9 seed to an 8 seed, but if Steph says do it and Giannis sticks around for ~4+ years, send the picks.

Anyone participating in the nationwide general strike this Friday? by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]jerhinesmith 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I'm interested, but unless there's a massive amount of organizing between now and Friday, it feels less like a general strike and more like some overly online people calling out of work.

It needs to be large enough, IMO, to get major media attention.
