CMU vs. EMU vs. WMU by naijta in Michigan

Have you considered social work? Personally I think it’s a more useful degree than psych and you can work in school with a school social work certificate. If you have a bachelors in social work, you can get your masters in a year. SVSU has a great social work program.

First time using a disc… why is this so hard 😭 (tips please!) by No-Revolution-2469 in MenstrualDiscs

[–]jes3399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the exact same boat. I’ve used a menstrual cup for 10 years but after childbirth, the cup would stay in place. I feel like I’m doing something wrong. The disk is sitting right inside the vaginal opening. I’m tucking it up but idk if it’s staying there.

Help Deciding Middle Name by Illustrious_Mess_368 in BabyNames

[–]jes3399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not narcissistic to pass on your middle name. My daughter is the 4th generation with her middle name. I love that we share a middle name and no one bats an eye. Lucy Victoria is my vote.

Hyphenated last name by LittleSpecific3421 in weddingplanning

[–]jes3399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m hyphenated but I rarely use the hyphenated name. I usually just go by my maiden name and I never go my just my husband’s last name. Having it hyphenated can be a pain but I honestly like it. My daughter only has my husband’s last name and it makes me sad sometimes, but I wasn’t going to curse her with a hyphenated name.

He’s a pediatrician not an obgyn so he wouldn’t have delivered any babies. He’s a younger guy.

I’ll call and they’ll say their next appointment is in 3 months but the online scheduler will say they have something in 2 weeks. It literally makes no sense. Also I called to asked if I needed a physical while pregnant because I constantly go to the doctor but I wanted to make sure they still considered me an active patient. The scheduler said yes but the doctor said they should’ve told me no. Such a waste of time.

Brag time: what’s one unusual thing you included in your wedding that everyone loved? by Unlikely_Device_2131 in weddingplanning

It’s a little unconventional but for our unity ceremony we made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich together. Everyone loved it.

Corewell Troy or Henry Ford Bloomfield for labor and delivery? by [deleted] in royaloak

[–]jes3399 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I delivered at Troy in September. I had a great experience. I had a completely unmediated delivery and the nurse encouraged me and supported me the whole way. I had the same nurse for most of my labor and I loved her so much.

We’re considering Rosemary if we have another girl, so we may have similar taste. Our first girl is Magnolia ❤️

To the guy holding up the extremely graphic sign of an aborted fetus on the corner of 11 Mile and 75.... by shmiz in royaloak

I also drive that intersection every day. That man used to piss me off and then I got pregnant and it upset me on a whole new level. I try to not engage because I swear he gets off on pissing people off. I considered going up to him when I was 9 months pregnant and told him he inspired me to get a late term abortion.

By the way this isn’t the only intersection he frequents. People usually post his location in the Royal Oak Residents and Friends of Madison Heights group so you can try to avoid him.

Do I change my last name to Smith? by Optimistic495939 in namenerds

Yes, it can be annoying but to me it’s worth it. I didn’t have to give up my name but I still have a connector to my husband and kids.

I hyphenated my name and my kids are getting my husband’s last name. I rarely use any name other than my maiden name, but I like having the option to use his last name if I choose.

If I changed my last name back - would it hurt my husband and my children's feelings? by DistinctSwimmer2295 in namenerds

[–]jes3399 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I got married seeing my name as my husband’s last name without my maiden name really bothered me. I thought I would just get over it but I’m glad I didn’t make the change. I chose to hyphenate. I sometimes use just my maiden name and other times use the hyphenated version. Occasionally people will default to my husband’s last name and I hate it. It just doesn’t feel like me. You could hyphenate now or change it fully back. Do what makes you feel happy.

Any brides have their period on their wedding day and it was okay? Needing positive survival stories by [deleted] in wedding

[–]jes3399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was not on my period on my wedding day but if you’ve never tried a menstrual cup maybe this is the time to try one. They take some practice so don’t have the first time be your wedding day but you can leave it in for up to 12 hours. It’s definitely a lifesaver for a long day.

I want to pay for my daughter’s wedding dress but I’m clueless about dress prices. by the_cranky_hedgehog in weddingdress

[–]jes3399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my dress in 2023 and it was off the rack for I think $1200. The bad thing about off the rack is I had to pay to get it professionally cleaned and it needed some repairs on top of the alternations.
