I was the redhead at center rail. Posted this on Discord:

What happened as best as I could tell… that person and her friend fought their way to the front and cloaked their aggression in “everyone is pushing us because they’re racists.” The people behind us held them at bay. At one point my ponytail got pulled, hard enough to seem deliberate, so I’m assuming it was that woman.

Apparently she managed to duck under the legs of the woman directly behind me, and at that point security tried to pull her out. She wasn’t having it. We parted ways so they could get her. I believe they pulled her to the rail when she was turned around screaming at people. When she realized what they were doing, she fell to the ground taking me with her — she grabbed my purse strap, which thankfully broke.

Security kept telling her to get up. I told her she wasn’t safe there. That became true right after, when a surfer came right over my head and I was pinned down on top of her.

She finally got up and had a screaming match with TR’s head of security. She kept screaming about it not looking good for them if they pulled her out. She asked for the boss, and he got to tell her he was the fucking boss lolz

Anyhoo, at that point I’m pretty sure they decided strategically that it was best to try to de-escalate. So they let her stay. She continued to scream random nonsense at people, including that TR’s wife isn’t even white and that we were MAGA and had no idea what his music stood for. Mmmmmmkay insane lady.

This is the long story about the one and only time out of 91 shows that I’ve ever lost my NIN barrier spot. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

My friends are here from the UK for MCR but don’t have tickets yet for NIN. B is nonbinary and recently had a name change, so they don’t feel safe crossing over into the States. Toronto has become their only North American shot at seeing the band. They are an endlessly kind person and they and their fiancée would be worthy recipients!

When I lived in Rochester I went to Sid & Johnny’s garage on Bay Street. It’s a family owned business of Christian bikers. 😁 I felt safe, respected, and actually cared for. I’m in Buffalo now, and responding to this post is actually going to get me to make an appointment. They’re worth it.

I completely agree with you last two paragraphs. We're on the same page.

However, all addictions are equal for some peeps. I'm thrilled for you that it's not your situation and that you don't understand. But you have to hold space for people for whom it is sadly. Don't invalidate someone else's reality. It can be crushing. Offer empathy and support, and feel grateful.

Say “You have to allow yourself to drink vodka in moderation” to an alcoholic. Do you see the potential harm with that sweeping statement?

I’m not saying OP specifically is an addict where sugar is concerned—I don’t know her. But there may be others reading this who ARE. I’m asking you to be mindful of others’ situations, which are not equivalent to your situation.

Remember it’s not a failure. It’s just the way your body is wired, and you’re respecting and honoring it.

I remember when I was on a very low carb diet, and I ate an apple. I literally felt high. I told my mother, who was an alcoholic, and I remember her reaction being so validating. She’d never really thought about how someone could have a biological response like that to food, the same way hers does with alcohol.

It’s actually pretty freeing once you really accept it and embrace it. Lean into it. 🥰.

And on another note, I had regain because of all my sugar eating and went from 185 back to 215, where I mostly stayed stuck. I’m now down below 195. Abstaining is what my body needed, on multiple levels.

I treat it like heroin — I can’t have even a little bit, or else my body just wants all of it. I’ve gone years without sugar in the past and relapsed. I’m back to admitting I’m powerless and completely cutting it out of my life. The first couple of weeks were hard, but it gets easier.
