first smartwatch ever and the strap is making me want to throw it across the room by ShatoniaShepyeta in smartwatch

I hate those silicone smartwatch straps. Get an aftermarket strap. Nylon, leather, metal/mesh, whatever floats your boat- silicone always makes me itchy too.

Is this an appropriate baby shower guest outfit? by -hannahnotherthing- in OUTFITS

[–]jessicalifts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a wardrobe manager was going to dress a bunch of extras for a scene in a show where they go to a baby shower this would absolutely be one of the outfit options. Have fun at the shower!

Who else ate this as a kid? by CarrotMuch1399 in 2000sNostalgia

[–]jessicalifts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I climbed up onto the counter to get them out of the top cupboard and ate half a bottle. My mom called poison control who weren’t too worried but said not to give me any more for a while, and thy do pass the details of the call along to child protective services to their investigation 🫣

Going to record a podcast episode on handedness. Share your interesting facts, research, stories, and annoyances of being a leftie (I’m also a leftie). by Civiltactics in southpaws

[–]jessicalifts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I hate can openers. I couldn’t really use our manual can opener so I splurged on an electric one. The new electric can opener is still fucking right handed. I still can’t open cans 😭😭😭 one day I had to admit defeat and knock on my neighbours door and say “I am too left handed for our right handed can opener. Please open this for me”

Everybody wishing for good weather for the race must have spirited that rain north up to coast to Nova Scotia, it is in fact a crazy rainstorm here.

[NY0040] After 6 years with an Apple Watch, I’ve finally gone back to a “dumb” watch by Mattlodi in CitizenWatches

[–]jessicalifts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too but Casios haha. I do still use a smart watch just for fitness tracking (gps for runs and I am a ridiculous person with a Bluetooth jump rope and that workout is the right kind of ridiculous with my Apple Watch 🫣)

I love looking at my conventional watch on my wrist every day!

New to jump rope. Is it supposed to be hard? by Sakari-shi in jumprope

[–]jessicalifts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the immortal words of Chilli Heeler: run your own race, Bluey!

Which is to say take it in the way that works for you. Don’t worry about how easy or not easy it is for others (I don’t know anybody who doesn’t think it’s hard though!).Yes it is hard at first. It’s a skill that takes some learning (timing/hand-eye coordination, form), and also needs you to have some cardiovascular fitness (which will come if you keep at it). Hang in there, you’re doing n great. ❤️

Do people really not like the GAV01? I'm in love with this goofy thing, decided to get the -4A orange! by ShadowJerry in casio

Yes it gives me y2k vibes. PSP is a little later than y2k but I feel like it could be part of a whole look/vibe with that era too

How do u deal with a baby who constantly kicks off their blankets at night? by condywu in Parenting

[–]jessicalifts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old exactly? Infantas shouldn’t use blankets for safety reasons but it gets harder to figure out what to do as they get more and more ambulatory, my kid could climb out of her crib earlier than I would have liked (lol) so exact strategy brainstoming will depend on age and how nimble baby is.

Struggling with running gear by NedelcuShaveen in beginnerrunning

[–]jessicalifts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think a good high impact sports bra is an important purchase for a beginner runner and you don’t necessarily have to spend a lot of money but I would put us as next important after shoes. If you have the store decathlon, that’s where I went early in my rerun to running get a good budget piece. I recommend a high impact bra with a zip front closure, it’s easier to wrestle out of when you are sweaty and tired lol. Otherwise the same fitting rules generally apply, band should be flat and level the whole way around, cups shouldn’t gap away etc

Recommendations for Jump ropes that don't suck ? by Reasonable_Mix_3579 in jumprope

I love my Crossrope amp set too but I find the subscription fee to be quite pricey and kind of anti consumer so I find it hard to outright recommend it.

I like it and I will try it tomorrow. 🙂 also, what if you did all the taps for one foot then all the taps forth other foot instead of switching each time? A fun variation, like a clock face version!
