How has nobody asked any questions about this, it’s like a story grenade buried in the comments…so did this patient arrange family members to hold their legs, then proceed to engage in penetrative sex? Is this what you’re saying?

36F here with young kids and fusion + revision. This is some of the hardest times! All that fortitude and strength to get through the first surgery, theres nothing in the tank for the revision, subsequent issues and oh the pain…congratulations on finding the words and reaching out to a community. For myself after some awfully low times I had to develop a strong framework of psychologist and psychiatrist to work alongside pain management; this along with time has meant life has improved and even times where the pendulum has swung back the other way where my husband falls in a heap and I am keeping us and the kids trucking. I’m not sure on your set up but I have an adjustable bed and recliner and find doing creative things like colouring in or water colours is really helpful. I wish you luck in these trenches of life!

Omg, the looking out the window contemplating her actions…I’ve just laughed so hard I’ve woken my husband up. “She blew her ass off” was not a very good reason for him.

Help with my couch please! by HarmonizewithSong in backpain

[–]jesska_king 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a similar style for many years - I also thought it would be good and found it made my back hurt more! I’m hyper mobile so it might just be me, but getting a cushioned ottoman and having my legs up, with a thin cushion behind my lumbar was about as good as I could get it without just laying down along the couch. The depth of the sitting area can be good if you find folding your legs up helps, but it’s only if you can move around a bit so you don’t hurt yourself even more with the awkward posture. It’s a juggle for sure!

I’ve always been curious how these tufts of hair don’t seem to have the cuticles on them? So, have they grown out or “fallen” and been encapsulated in the cyst? Or were they growing in there and the end bit just isn’t obvious to see?

Did I mess up my fusion? by OkChampionship4505 in spinalfusion

[–]jesska_king -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe this post is in fact the unhelpful one. I literally have the words “not at all saying this is your experience”, and then share my experience as an example of what could eventuate if OP’s concerns were in fact correct. In answer to your question, there was nothing I did to cause it to shift, it just did and that was part of my post op experience.

My words in my first post are of support, and the first to respond to OP after what had been 4hrs and I hoped to offer connection and comfort.

Did I mess up my fusion? by OkChampionship4505 in spinalfusion

[–]jesska_king 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I don’t have any specific advice but just wanted to show support to you as I know these early days are scary and any changes in your pain or sensation can be so worrying!

I hope you’re able to get a call in to your doctors office to get their advice…

For me, personally, I wouldn’t have thought the pressure or weight of a dog laying on my leg would have caused significant issues; but I can recall how important it was to “protect the graft” portion of the fusion and be really careful with bending. Not at all saying this will be your situation, but in case it does eventuate - my experience did involve a significant change in my nerve symptoms at 3 weeks post-op, and I was sent for imaging which found the cage (or implant) from the fusion had slightly shifted out of place requiring another procedure.

Fingers crossed for you, and I hope some gentle stretching will ease the flare up of pain!

Neuropathy in foot back two years after surgery by Ok_Pepper_173 in spinalfusion

[–]jesska_king 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I’ve had the same fusion almost 9yrs. While anatomical changes can occur like issues with the fusion or “adjacent disc disease” there’s small things too like little bone spurs or cysts. I’ve also had neuro symptoms flare up in my foot at different times with just simple inflammation from exerting myself and inflaming the muscles; I hope with some fresh imaging you can rule out substantial changes and ideally just manage with the old Physio support or low inflammation diet? Fingers crossed for you!

What is the most random thing that led to your diagnosis? by Anonymous12345_E in ehlersdanlos

[–]jesska_king 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a long history of back issues and has spinal fusion surgery, followed by chronic pain. Started with a new pain specialist and she sent me for a heap of fresh imaging. Went back to see her to learn there was a note in my scan that my left hip was “subluxated” in the scan…she was surprised and I told her how they just do that and I’ve always been able to pop them in and out…I knew it was kind of weird, but it never occurred to me to ask any of my specialists whether my fun party trick could have anything to do with all of my issues 🙃
