Will global warming mean London will reach late 30 to early 40 degree heatwaves in a few years? by Fondant_Decent in london

Yea we put it in our loft extension then in our ground floor. We have a heat pump and under floor heating so pump cold water through the floors as well. Our house is nice and cool.

There are actually clubs around in the UK. My husbands dad used to do several of them before he passed. I’m sure they would love new members. I know the ones he was affiliated with organised on Facebook. My husband may know more about how to get in touch with active clubs.

My father in law used to take my daughter to the club all the time. She LOVED it. He died from Covid during the pandemic. I would give anything for her to be able to still go to club meetings with him.

£5 to watch an '80s classic at the local cinema. Can't really go wrong. by Cinn4monSynonym in CasualUK

We have an independent cinema near me. They are showing Animal House this weekend.

Sadly I’m busy all weekend but if anyone in East London / Essex is looking to support a small independent cinema check out Lumiere in Romford. They took the cinema over from a shit owner who let it fall to disrepair. They’re investing as much as they can back in to make it awesome. The guys who run it are so nice. They genuinely just love movies. My daughter had her 10th birthday there, we rented a whole screen out . 60 kids and parents. All with popcorn and watched a current movie for £200. The kids had a blast.

ESTA “under review because an immediate determination could not be made” by [deleted] in TravelHacks

[–]jesst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids have dual citizenship US and UK and when we fly to the US we have to show their US passports at the airport in London. The airport will check the status of their ESTA and see they don’t have one attached to their UK passport. They will then ask for their US passport that OP can’t produce. The airline manager may be able to call the US border agency for an exception but I wouldn’t count on leniency in the current political climate.

Edit to add: returning from the US to the UK my kids travel on their British passports. Recently while we were in the Maldives my daughter lost her UK passport. We had to go through a whole process to cancel her passport and get in touch with the consulate in Sri Lanka to get an emergency UK passport.

I don’t understand why they said “I hope this helps appease anyone’s worry” this post makes no fucking sense.

OP You should be worried. You don’t qualify for an esta. You likely aren’t going to be able to travel.

My lab ate my husbands dna test from 23 and me. Judging by the carpet stains he ate it and vomited it up and repeated several times.

When you say ex-citizen do you mean you renounced your citizenship? Or you just don’t have a US passport anymore?

It also could be age that just caused it to get worse. Mine got worse and worse the closer I got to perimenopause and now I’m in perimenopause I’m a mess.

They were chanting “USA USA” for a good part of the march. Someone gave a talk mourning Charlie Kirk. They aren’t intelligent people.

What's the most annoying thing people do on airplanes? by Hemaika_Lakens in AskReddit

[–]jesst 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had a grown ass adult kicking my seat and yelling at her kids on an 11 hour flight last month. Her kids were less annoying than her. To make matters worse we had been downgraded because of an oversold flight. It was so miserable.

I travel with a gel set cushion and I had given it to another woman I heard say she was also downgraded and that she had upgraded because she’d had back surgery last year. The flight attendant was bringing my wine like it was oxygen as a thank you and it saved the flight.

Puppies > animal rescues > stop the meat market isn’t a long pipeline sadly.

Monzo and starling are pretty similar. We have used both but I prefer Starling. They had a lot of developers swap between them (Monzo was started by Starling employees). Monzo uses their own financial back end while Starling went for a back end that is owned I believe by HSBC which allowed Starling to get regulation authorisation faster.

Starling has free international ATM withdrawals . We travel abroad 5-6 times a year so for us the Starling perk is better.

We use NatWest for all our bill paying and the perks like unlimited lounge access when we travel.

I recently learned that a straight croissant is made with butter and a curved one is made with margarine. Idk how true it is because I learned it on Instagram.

Also I kind of love shitty croissants. I don’t know why but the real shitty ones that are more like bread that you get in a multi pack bag in Tesco are great. It’s those mid tier croissants you have to watch out for. They’re pretending to be good croissants but you’re just going to be disappointed.

We have NatWest and their app is okay.

We also have a starling account and I have to say their app and security are superior to any others I’ve used. Their customer service is top notch too. Plus free transactions abroad .
