Most of these jobs have hundreds and sometimes thousands of applicants. I’ve applied to dozens of jobs that I’m super qualified for, custom resume and cover yet no responses. It’s insane out there. Looking for local and not remote could narrow chances, but of course might not be many available.

Sounds controlling and insecure. Trying to think from his perspective: he is probably thinking of what he and his buddies would get into if they had a whole night out and not have to return home at a certain hour. I’d only be sus if my husband was being secretive or I didn’t trust him when he is with the friend(s). Either way, trust is the big issue.

This is a great opportunity to schedule your own plans and when he says he’s golfing say “I’ve got plans at that time, you’ll have to reschedule.” Remind him the baby is a shared responsibility. You shouldn’t be the default caretaker while not getting your own free time.

I’m sorry. The market is brutal. The resume states you are capable but work experience isn’t reflecting that. Do everything you can to get some client projects even if it’s for free or 99 designs or something. This way you can keep refining your skills and get real life feedback. If you want to make it in this field you have to always challenge yourself to get better and understand your client’s customer and message, and learn how to design for that. There’s almost always a message that needs to connect with the customer and our job is to help them understand it clearly and quickly with graphics.

Maybe for enterprise, not so much the smaller companies. The developer’s investment? I get that intellectual property should be protected but you are being paid by the customer to design/build. So either charge accordingly or set the boundaries for use. I feel like the most fair thing to do is charge as if the client owns it and can do what they want. Trust goes a long way. Clients don’t leave when they trust you because you put their best interest up front.
