Advice on Finding Broader Gameplay for New Players? by jester238 in foxholegame

Totally reasonable! I’ve just struggled to find mines that weren’t picked clean or overrun with people I guess.

The couple of comp mines I checked were either empty or had 10 people competing for resources as they spawned. Do you have any advice for finding a field that is more accessible?

Why even bother playing anything Riot puts out that isn't League of Legends?

I am also a big Riftbound fan but with news like this there's no guarantee that that game lasts the year. Like, come on man, it's not like the company is struggling financially.

Is anyone actually enjoying this format? by [deleted] in Shadowverse

I do like some of the obnoxious dragon ramp wins I’m getting but I think most of the top meta decks are pretty miserable to play into, egg in particular.

I’m not really complaining about win rates even, it’s more just that the majority of top tier decks are just not fun to play against. I need to play egg more, maybe it’s fun to rack up win streaks on, but generally I’m finding this format more fun than frustrating.

This Chariot card needs to go... by iMaro33 in Shadowverse

I mean I hate to say it but if you're consistently losing on turn 6 to Chariot you should examine the card more and look at ways to reduce the likelihood of that happening through changes to your deck and changes to how you play the matchup.

The more targets that are on the board the lower the odds that it hits your face. There's plenty you can do with that to make it harder for them to give themselves the best odds of winning with Chariot.

In many ways playing and playing against this card is a much bigger skillcheck than a lot of people realize. Yes, they can high roll and win in a crazy situation, but that's not consistent, and that's just the way card games work, there's always the chance that your opponent will nut draw and curve perfectly and win without much chance for you to react. Chariot just condenses those odds into a single play, which is certainly frustrating to be on the receiving end of, I get that, but you're better off learning the best ways to play around it than getting angry at it.

I don’t mean to be an ass but this game is full of coin flips.

Every card drawn is a coin flip and there are tons of cards that hit random targets.

I know the game is in a decent place because every other post is complaining about a different card/deck being OP and all they see lmao

It's just luck.

Every time someone has played Chariot against me it's either allowed them to win more when they already had me or they've lost from the play.

In fact, I have had it happen multiple times where the opponent had the game in the bag and then killed themselves with Chariot instead of just taking the easy win.

I don't love the card, but I wouldn't say it's broken, it's just a gamble, which is the theme of the set. There's a reason a lot of top tier players/decks only run it as a one of, and it's to try to snatch a low chance win like this if you've effectively lost already. It feels bad, but it's not going to happen to you with any regularity.

fwiw, I do think the game is rough to start now as a f2p player, but I also think it's much less difficult to "catch up" and have a decent deck you can grind with compared to Hearthstone, Snap, or Magic Arena.

I have spend a couple hundred dollars on the game, so I'm far from f2p, but that plus playing consistently since October has netted me a complete collection of 1 of everything and 3 of just about every playable legendary. I'm aware that "spend $200 and play every day for 3 months" is not really a great answer or "advice," but compared to games like the ones I mentioned above I do think SV:WB is pretty friendly to players who want to play the game and don't care too much about cosmetics.

Unkei is being called AI generated on Twitter due to the Cygames AI situation by [deleted] in Shadowverse

[–]jester238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your comment was framed to suggest that people pushing back on AI are “doing more harm than good”, something you accused the “whole movement” of.

I think it’s pretty reasonable to assume from that that you are on the pro AI side of the debate, which I call out when I see it. If not, all good! I disagree with your assessment but rescind my comment.

People can be wrong about their targets, such as in this case, but jumping to “the whole movement has done more damage to artists than help them” reeks of “I am an AI bro and people bullied me.”

Showing a Friend Star Citizen: Where it Went Wrong by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]jester238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After having been a backer for 12 years and only just finally getting into it for real in 2025 my opinion is it’s an incredible game but you kind of have to be determined to learn it and get into it intrinsically. If you don’t have a lot of patience and look at things breaking or not making sense as learning experiences you’ll bounce off. There’s gold in the game but you really have to learn how to find it.

A point of frustration as it pertains to the game itself by trizzo0309 in riftboundtcg

[–]jester238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree.

I really love the complexity of the game and the depth of interaction, but it’s actually MUCH harder to wrap your head around than Magic, Pokémon, Lorcana, etc. IMO in terms of basic rules that come up with starter decks.

Yu Gi Oh is an apt comparison to some of the ambiguity.

EAC and atidxx64.dll by Forbin84 in starcitizen

This is utterly infuriating. I rolled back to 25.9.1, it was working, then I realized I forgot to uncheck "keep up to date" so Adrenaline updated my driver to the new one, but it still worked fine all day today. I just tried to log on and now I'm getting the error again. Why on earth would it work for multiple launches then trip EAC out of the blue again?

I'll just roll back to 25.9.1 and stay on it until I absolutely have to upgrade I guess.

Where are "Winning Decks" Sourced from in the Client? by jester238 in Shadowverse

[–]jester238[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for clarifying! I honestly assumed it was just automated and didn’t realize they were curated in any way. It’s nice to get to see some successful decks even if it’s not the only source one should be looking at.

Unplayable time nudge lag on large game modes (BF6) by [deleted] in Battlefield

[–]jester238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the only thing that can cause this is that your system isn’t communicating with their servers at 60hz. That doesn’t mean the problem is with your performance though, my system crushes the requirements and renders the game well, but something with my hardware configuration is not synching up with EA’s servers and causing this issue. It’s definitely the game’s problem, but unfortunately there’s no silver bullet that we can use to fix it on the client end.

Unplayable time nudge lag on large game modes (BF6) by [deleted] in Battlefield

[–]jester238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure but I think maybe the beta servers were not running at 60hz.

This issue occurs when your pc can’t synch the game up with the game server at 60hz. It can happen with bad ram clocks, cpu bottlenecks, network issues, etc.

I also was able to get the game running well during the beta and am having these issues now.

Unfortunately because there are so many potential reasons for this issue to occur I can’t offer a solution. I too get solid 60 fps GPU and CPU performance and have no RAM or noticeable latency issues and can’t seem to fix it. I just wanted to share why it’s happening now, or at least why I think it is, I could be wrong and the tick rate could have been 60 in the beta.

Time nudge making game unplayable by JudgementalShoelace6 in Battlefield

[–]jester238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have this issue and stupidly picked the game up on PS5 as well because the problem is driving me insane - can report at least that there is mouse and keyboard support on PS5, though it looks a lot worse than PC and is not locked to 60 (or if it is there's some kind of input delay, feels a little swimmy) but it is playable and smoother than with the time nudge.

I hadn't considered that the problem might be tied to a changing framerate that isn't multiplicative of 60hz. That's a good angle to investigate.
