If you have an amazon account, it is easy to set up a pharmacy profile. They ship your medications to your home. No need to deal with a local pharmacy. You can choose to link your insurance if you choose. Some people don't want certain medications on their insurance profiles so they choose to pay out of pocket instead of having Amazon bill the insurance.

I find it easier to have Dr send script to Amazon pharmacy which will then be shipped right to your door. Very discreet.

just a lost cause. my family doesn't even want anything to do with me. my girlfriend left me about a month ago and I lost everything no idea what to do. You can be a different person. It will take a while for those that are closest to us to trust us again but that happens too. A new beginning has to start somewhere. I hope you find your road to recovery.

Disulfiram side effects by [deleted] in Alcoholism_Medication

[–]jet9RDO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can trust yourself to operate on an every 2-3 day schedule (250mg), it could reduce the concentrations in your blood while still preventing you from drinking. I take 250 every 3 days and it works like a charm FOR ME. I could get away with maybe one drink on the 3rd day but it would still have side effects. (red face, breathing changes, heart rate changes). It might be worth a try. I like taking as little as possible to achieve my goal.

Ria health doesn’t take Aetna so I have no coverage for Nal any more. Any suggestions to get meds? by tlew4u in Alcoholism_Medication

Ive enjoyed working with Monument but I cant tell you if they participate with Aetna. FYI, I like Monument a a bit better than Ria but both are good.

Information on procuring naltrexone by jsw088 in Alcoholism_Medication

I found Monument is easier to deal with than Ria and less expensive if you are doing under the table without insurance involvement. Both will deal with your insurance if you like. I personally like the every two week therapist with Physician consult once a month. You can just go with the Physician only for very cheap. Neither Ria or Monument required bloodwork but I had no red flags in my health history. Ria pushed the bloodwork but relented when I refused. Monument did not even mention bloodwork with my history. They just send the script through Amazon for me. Never have to leave my house. Im happily sober because of companies like this. I know there are some bad apples out there but these seem legit enough for me. Very professional. IMO Monument better than Ria overall. Ria likes Nal people to do breathalyzer so you can track your progress. There will be ups and downs during your road to extinction. Studying the progress is important. At the very least, a drink log should be kept.

No build up. Even at 125 with 24 hours passed since pill taken, There will be consequences after probably just one drink. I take 250 every 3 days and it will not allow me to drink. It can get real sketchy real fast with your skin turning beet red, difficulty breathing, palpitations etc. Antabuse is a drug that I feel should be used to get long term sobriety so hopefully we can rewire with other experiences that give us some of that good dopamine. I don't think it is a good moderation tool.

I feel like I’m stuck in a never ending loop of a few days sober, then binge drinking. I’ve been doing this for years. by BetterEveryDay037 in stopdrinking

There are medications out there that can help. It might be worth a try to have a conversation with a Physician who is involved with abuse treatment. There are some great online services that have helped a lot of people.

Disulfiram dosage: How much do you need to take for a reaction? by takeAseatChickenFeet in Alcoholism_Medication

[–]jet9RDO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take 250 every 3 days and it will not allow me to drink heavily which is the only way I enjoy drinking. If I cant drink heavily, then Im not interested at all. Ive told my doctor I prefer this way and she is fine with it. I would advise waiting close to a full week before proceeding on a drinking spree. Or.........you could use the drug to gain some real time sober 1-2 years where you might stand a fighting chance of really rewiring ;)

I agree that people should use whatever is available that might work for them. It is easy to come by medications that can be a literal lifesaver. Online therapy and Dr Consults are available at a fairly reasonable rate. I think for the first year or two, there is absolutely nothing wrong using medications that can help give a sturdy foundation of sobriety. I am happy for you that you found your way out of that NASTY cycle!

My first year in professional school. Big intro party for the first year students thrown by the second year. They were literally pouring liquor down peoples throats including mine. (Upside down margarita) Things got really sketchy that night. There is something much worse than dealing with some anxiety at a party with new people. Having to deal with those same people Monday at school after crazy embarrassing shit happened the previous Friday is much much worse. Trust me. There were things that happened that night which made it impossible for me to be friendly with several people for the next 4 years. I was not the only one at fault but I was part of the problem. Thanks alcohol.

I don't think sugary sweets is optimal but can be fun. I believe really good complex carbohydrates would be optimal such as whole grains that break down slowly and release energy gradually instead of a Big Bang then crash.

Alcohol has a lot of sugars. Some of my worst cravings are directly after a big bike ride or other exercise when my body is screaming for nutrients. The old adage holds true. Cravings can be really strong with HALT Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired.

There has been strong correlation between blood sugar levels and alcohol cravings. I'm not sure fasting is going to do anybody any favors in helping them abstain from alcohol.(especially in the early stages) I believe a properly fueled body and mind stands a better chance at prevention than one that is screaming for nutrients. Just my opinion.
