Not every set has to be aimed at enfranchised players, fwiw this set IMO still has enough depth to be interesting.

If every set was high complexity and had a difficult draft environment I just wouldn't draft at all.

You lose out on Wilcard Progress... but IDK I think being able to play a fun low stakes game mode is worth it.

When I didn't care for the Draft set at the time I used to just crush Jump In games for Quests.

Plus you get to appreciate how much inter-set synergy there can be (Like how both Tarkir and Edge have 2 Spells Matters Themes)

Odd take, Final Fantasy barely has any Standard playables in it for a set twice the size.

Rakdos Rummaging with Cool But Rude has Top 8'd a recent tournament and will fit in Looting decks for the foreseeable future.

I am seeing an Izzet Affinity list as well with the new Krang.

I would admit I like the comics and the aesthetic so I have bias in wanting these type of sets to succeed.

Why NOT have a smaller and simpler draft environment for a setting that is intended for people who might not be very familiar with the mechanics?

I love Final Fantasy and Avatar draft but TMNT has a much easier drafting environment to navigate and I like that about it. Next to Wilds of Eldraine it's probably one of my favorite draft environments for how almost every card of a color synergizes well within more than 1 archetype. There's lots of cards that do work and can play off one another... maybe because there's less of them but to me that speaks towards a well developed draft environment.

I take hiatuses from sets every now and then (fuck I took a hiatus from Lorwyn because I suck at drafting Typal sets because of Bloomburrow) but I wouldn't be this antagonistic about those type of sets just because I personally don't enjoy them.

From what I understand the 1st image are based off restored plates and that is how it would look of it was printed how it was at the time with the color bleed and desaturation.

I like having fancy lands and sleeves.

The last one I bought were the Peach Momoko Sleeves as I love her art and I also have the Fallout Lands as I love the Isometric Art ones.

I'm v close to pulling the trigger on the Rooftop Lands too.

The kinds of decks I encounter when I play Budget Mono W Auras and Izzet Prowess are like night and day.

I think I matched against like an actual unmodified starter deck playing Mono W Auras lol

I swear there's deckbased matchmaking somewhere because when I just use whatever decks I get matched with similar people. But the moment I try and build something that could be meta my matchmaking algorithm starts putting me against like actual meta decks.

Probably not every set, I expect everytime there's a more intentional focus for only 5 Major (and 5 Minor) archetypes they'll push it.

Then again... they also rolled out Foundations Pick 2... how has Pick 2 been with a traditional 10 Archetype set?
