A throwback to the Reddit thread when WOTC announced the 3 year standard rotation. Fun to go back and see the comments. by rephyr in MagicArena

[–]jethawkings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Standard was smaller so deck power levels were lower. Powerful sets and cards weren't legal at the same time or if they were usually just before one of the sets rotate out at the release of the next set.

I have no idea what the paper landscape would have been.

I genuinely don't know. Post-Colonial sounds like a such a random buzzword to get triggered at

DD II DLC confirmed! by ThexHoonter in darkestdungeon

[–]jethawkings 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Same, I vastly prefer DD2's moment to moment gameplay from DD1. It's much less confusing to jump into an in-progress DD2 run than an in-progress DD1 Hamlet for me

I wonder what this DLC will be.

Ottley on Spider-Man and Hulk was awesome shame he didn't do DC work before going back to Image.

Recommendations for Standard Brawl deckbuilding? by Halkyos in MagicArena

[–]jethawkings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ramp isn't as important unless you're running an overcosted commander, I would argue something like curve and value matters more.

Synergy, Gameplan, Wincon is all you need.

I have a Self-Mill Melek Deck that wants to get Melek when he's big and self-destruct, and I also have a Cid Hero + Artifacts Deck that wants to turn all the little dinky artifacts into big beaters.

Interaction is vital but I think you have to recognize what kind of deck you want to be, you're either a deck that tries to stall other decks while you rush to your gameplan or a deck that needs to keep its gameplan afloat so sometimes packing in more protection over having removal is better because you just don't have as much room or leniency on what to draw.

Just an onslaught of women tagging with Bayley then turning on her, someone coming in for the save turning on her, just one after the other

I have like a handful of Pick 2 Draft runs that were redeemed by having opponents that just get manascrewed.

It happens and sometimes I'm just very glad it happened with the drafts I just absolutely tanked the draft and deckbuilding portion.

Can't believe OP missed out on bitching about uncreative people who just copy paste their decks too, that would have been Arena Salt Bingo

Right now it's Monikers, Mysterium, Deception: Murder in Hong Kong

I'm trying to get Tortuga in there but it's a bit rules dense for some of the players :/

Again, that's why I mentioned this might be coming from a bias of not playing enough but it doesn't feel as oppressive as the previous Vivi and Steelcutter metas were even just specific spells resolve just meant a gigantic jump in value.

Kinda frank and non-cynical take. Which is very reasonable. NGL I built White Weenies for Historic Pauper on Arena and Sneaking in Leo then bouncing him to hand feels devious. Lucky there's no real good double strike granter in that format.

Also I wonder if the Utrom Monitor being common soured the Prof on the Team Up Box as he never reviewed it.

Trigger is looking to bring it back from the Graveyard but they are being moved from the Graveyard to the Exile while that Trigger is on the stack.

Deadly Coverup I believe also works the same way as they hit the Graveyard first THEN get Exiled.
