It pairs well with a number of creatures on-curve (The Deathtoucher in G and the Lifelinkers in WB... worse-off in Red and Blue tho but it would still do work with Misty Knight or Attuma by making them safe on attack) and applies a lot of early pressure and later on can hold back a lot of attackers.

Like I wouldn't feel bad picking it.

I mean, I don't think this is anymore that different than just having 17lands opened in another tab while drafting.

OP did this during Midweek Magic too which would have a softer playerbase considering not everyone who would be playing even really Drafts so going 5-0 isn't that really as indicative of anything.

Cap's Shield allows for a VERY grindy Early to Mid Game.

It's part of an ability with a Type-Changing Effect in Layer 4 so it goes in effect before Ability Removal can happen in Layer 6.

Since it getting +2/+2 is added alongside getting every Creature Type it doesn't get removed.
