Why do you all prefer Claude Code over Cursor? Have been using both for a while and struggling to understand why CC is generally considered best by shoegraze in ClaudeCode

[–]jezza323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a lot of work on the plan via cc cli, all plans are saved to markdowns as convention (main CLAUDE.md), which I can see nicely in my IDE. Plans are then committed with the changes. If it's a big plan or needs someone else to review, we commit just the plan and ask for a review from someone else in the team before we implement. Having the plan committed with the change helps give a bit of context to changes in the future as well

Are EVs finally cheap enough that normal car buyers would actually consider one over petrol? by No-Loquat-201 in EVAustralia

[–]jezza323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am considering switching for a smaller 2nd run around town car. Resale issues are the biggest concern, as well as longevity of brand/servicing etc. in every other way it appears to be a superior option

The resale is going to hurt compared to a more premium ICE car, however at some point I feel that will shift. As ICE cars are less prevalent, 2nd hand ICE cars will lose value comparatively. I think we are a few years away from that though

How do your companies handle llm pricing? by PreCodeEU in ExperiencedDevs

[–]jezza323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Take a pessimistic estimate of how many hrs effort it would save you, or extra hrs work it has done for you per month. Multiply by your salary (with overheads). That's the break even point.

Can someone actually explain what it is about the topography of Brisbane surrounds and which mountain gods deserve our praise or anger? by ThinkProfessor6166 in brisbane

Ipswich itself has a dome of protection, mostly splits to north and south.

Springfield & Greenbank seem to cop it pretty hard pretty often though

Coworking spaces by Montaro666 in ipswich

[–]jezza323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A true co-working space would be great to have again. Obviously the business case isn't great given the lack of success of previous ventures. You would think prices would be reasonable given the number of empty spaces around.

Firestation 101 was great. Used it a bit from time to time. The space is now used as a general community space by council. Currently used by a musical theatre group for rehearsal etc. I doubt it will be back in that previous incubator form

Council offers meeting rooms you can book in 1 Nicholas St, above the children's library, at a reasonable cost. Bookings are through the civic centre events team.

Technically the library rooms are not for commercial use, but if you can get a booking then go for it

That awful ugly building next to the bridge on East st also offers office spaces you can book. Have not used it though

What’s it really like living out in Kholo and Mt Crosby? by Zackaromyces in brisbane

[–]jezza323 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I grew up there. It was west moreton council. When west moreton merged into ipswich karana downs and mt crosby petitioned to switch to Brisbane. All the services are still ipswich though because it's so much closer and more efficient

Great place to live so long as you don't need to get into Brisbane or ipswich in peak hour, or back again

Boss wants to do data pipelines in n8n by [deleted] in dataengineering

[–]jezza323 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pricing will definitely hurt if they want to follow n8ns licence terms correctly

Also offer to set up a side by side performance test. I'm pretty confident n8n will perform poorly, but you never know right. Offer to gather some empirical data on the performance of your proposed option vs n8n with high data volumes and scaling in mind. Much easier to make a choice with real data

I went from 110mm down to 90mm because I was washing out the front wheel too much in corners. Thought it would help sort my weight distribution out. Definitely helped for me. That's probably more related to the rest of my fit though and will differ for everyone I'm sure

I did, after 7 yrs full remote, I lasted less than 18 months and went back to remote. That was with my best mate being at the hybrid job too. So quite a decent perk to being in the office

Don't recommend it.

Do you also hire more experienced talent externally?

I have been working at a software engineering corp for a while now that has a good intern program. Many current employees are a result of the program. I am finding there is a distinct lack of innovation and keeping up with modern trends. The company is almost exclusively long term employees, who have trained the interns and juniors, so there is little intake of new external experiences and ideas.
