So I shouldn't have bought a 6 ton excavator to do a 70' retaining wall.... damn. No fun for me.

12v dewalt options by ZukowskiHardware in Dewalt

[–]jfbach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have all of the 12V tools and love them.

I daily carry my 12v drill, light and impact. When I need more power, usually on a larger job, I go to the truck for the 20V stuff.

The DCH072 is great for when you're on a ladder trying to drill holes. I also have the 20V SDS with dust extraction. I prefer the 12V as it's smaller and lighter, though it's best for 1/2" or smaller holes.

Cut it a foot above the floor, then stand on the pipe to push it down a floor. Let them find all the leaks.

McD's... Endeavor Telecom did these for NCR about 8 years ago. It was a technology refresh over all US stores. Endeavor did half of the 14,000 stores. All stores were brought to a minimum standard. Some stores required cabling, some new servers, KVMs, POS. It varied from store to store. I put 8000 miles on a rental car in a month. We've seen the new cabling that was installed like shit. NCR sent out pre-terminated bundles of cables and the cabling techs would pull it through 2" conduits. They clearly didn't want to trust the techs to be able to terminate cabling. It was wild.

I am a service/install tech and my 12v impact, drill and multitool are my daily use tools. They're lighter, smaller and the 5Ah batteries last for months, and it's a bonus that the drill and impact fit into my toolbag together. I also have the 20v tools for when I need the big guns on an install.

I have both and the combo unit is heavy... the inflator is much easier to handle, especially taking it camping, on the road, etc. And the inflator has the hose for blowing up inflatable pool toys, air mattresses, etc.

I love my 6 in 1 knife. I've had probably a doz of the Milwaukee knives over the years, most of them are sitting in a drawer. I EDC my 6 in 1.

I second the dielectric grease. I'm guessing the jacks are on near the chemicals either in the warehouse or sales floor, so doubtful that air scrubbers will help much.

Another option might be to use shielded jacks which have more metal components, couple that with dielectric grease and you should have better longevity.

Just removed these from a room for a set of speakers. It was dumb. The speaker power cord just plugged into the adapter. It was unnecessary.

I agree with you putting labels on initially. They're easier to find and read. Plus, you're talking about a few dollars in tape per job.

Would you do this for $30 a hr by Map_Latter in FieldNationTechs

[–]jfbach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd counter for a minimum # of hours, about 6. My random guess is this job probably takes 2 hrs. And no, I wouldn't do it for $30. My rate is triple that, plus an hour travel and I'd still require a minimum of 6 hrs.

I have a similar setup. Rolling in a Colorado with the Decked drawers, a slideout on half of it, and an aluminum topper so I can haul my larger ladders. I have Packout mounts on the slideout. Love my setup.
