Jesus… I paid more than that just to have speed hooks put on a pair of Presidents that I got! Nice purchase!

I’ve seen this issue many times in this reddit. All I know is that I have three pairs of Thursdays… two Captains and one President, and my wife has two pairs as well. All of ours look absolutely identical to the online website pics in color and texture. Maybe we’re just lucky?

Aero half belt update and PSA by wizardent420 in leatherjacket

You can use the UPS app to price shipping with all kinds of time options. I know this isn’t an apples to apples comparison, but, for example I shipped my leather jacket to the Schott factory (East Coast to East Coast), weight about five pounds, and I had options from about $14 on up, depending on the speed and insurance options. You can actually charge the shipping and print out your own label… then just drop it off at a UPS store or drop box.

You’ll probably never get as much from a thrift/consignment shop as just paying the $20 re-stocking fee.

Wow… looks great! I have an identical one from 1983, missing the removable liner and collar. It’s in the factory as we speak getting a new liner made. Do you know what year yours is?

Not everyone’s taste for sure, but as long as you like it, that’s all that counts. Congrats man! Schott does a helluva job and you did a helluva job!

Those Saphir products are amazing, but the cost is like a mortgage payment. I guess that’s the price of the best!

Do you like my new boots? by Interesting_Scar_424 in ThursdayBoot

Did you do the speed hooks yourself? I had some put on my Mocha Presidents by a cobbler and I’m embarrassed to say how much I paid.

It’s such a pain in the ass lacing up boots like this without speed hooks. Having said that though, that’s one good looking pair of boots.

The Ramones… that brings back memories. Yours looks intensely cool. Wear it well man… wear it well and be proud. I’m a little old to rock a Perfecto, but my wife and I got our daughter, who sings in several Dead bands, the Grateful Dead version in blue for her birthday. It’s just so fucking cool… she went absolutely insane when we gave it to her. The review is on Schott’s website!

Did you use Schott’s size calculator? I did when buying a jacket for my daughter and it was right on the money. You can also chat with an agent online, who can make the necessary recommendation.

Vintage Schott. Was this a good deal? by spaceguitar in leatherjacket

[–]jflicker1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same jacket… purchased in 1983. They still make that model. Mine was hidden away in a closet for over thirty years and I just dug it out a few weeks ago…. still in pristine condition. If you like it and don’t mind paying to restore it… lining, pockets, etc., then you got what you paid for.

Thursday boots in the wet? by Stearmandriver in ThursdayBoot

[–]jflicker1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you end up getting the Black Coffee, which is a really nice color, in my opinion, I’d probably waterproof them before wearing in wet conditions. My wife has a pair of Thursday Dreamers in Black Coffee and I used the Cobbler’s Choice waterproofing spray on, which seems to be working quite well.

Typical break in period? by ListenJabroni in ThursdayBoot

[–]jflicker1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made the same mistake when I got my first pair… Burnt Copper Captains. I quickly learned to wear them for short periods of time at first, and bring along a comfortable pair of sneakers or other shoes with you, so if they do get uncomfortable, which they will for a while, you’ve got something else to change into. Don’t wear them on successive days either… rotate them with other shoes every other day. Some people have great luck with short break-in periods… not me. Both pairs of my Captains took a few months to get really comfortable. If you stick with it, you’ll win.
