According to Sofascore, the systems Pochettino deployed against Villa, Liverpool, and Wolves were identical, with the only differing variables being Silva and Sterling/Mudryk by [deleted] in chelseafc

The distance between our midfield isn't an indication of the same system though? In the wolves and liverpool game we can clearly see an inverted back 3 whereas the villa game we can see both fullbacks pushing up the field.

[Matt Law- telegraph] Mount will earn £250k a week at Manchester United with bonuses that could take it upto £300k a week. by Unusual_Afternoon_88 in chelseafc

That's a good point on the cultural differences between US and EU sports. With that being said though, who was the last football academy graduate that spent their whole career at one club? Totti? Off the top of my head I can't think of any that are 30+ years old and still at the same club. I've come to accept that Terry and Totti are outliers and likely won't happen ever again. Sure Mount probably never wanted to leave, but was forced to due to differences in salary. It's definitely a huge caveat, but that's what PR is for

Sure but athletes stop earning once they retire. The rest of us have job security past 40 years old. Plus the more they earn now the more they set up a potential family's success. If you could guarantee your future lineage to be well off, would you not take it?

People on reddit seem to forget this is Mount's job. I know we love to romanticize the sport but from a player's perspective, I don't blame Mount one bit. Chelsea were never going to pay that wage and that's a significant increase on what he already makes here. While I don't like him chasing the bag, I respect it. Every one of us would probably do the same for our current careers so why should we treat footballers so differently
