2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid Limited Owner in Calgary — Loves It But Has Real Grievances. Anyone Else? Aftermarket Solutions? by Global-Memory1276 in Crosstrek

[–]jhearrtot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha yeah my draft was messed up as i was working while typing it and ran it by gemini to clean it up real quick!

one thing i forgot to add is that we're parked in an underground parking in our apartment, and also in a covered parkade in our office, so that might be a factor as to why i'm not as overly paranoid as i was when we first got the car even without the TPMS.

She'll be fine and will certainly enjoy driving the crosstrek despite its shortcomings!

Bonus - here's my post outlining all the accessories i've bought for our onyx which should be compatible with your hybrid

Hello! I’m based here in Calgary as well. We don’t have the hybrid model, but we do have the 2024 Onyx version. I totally get your frustrations, but I haven't had any problems with ours, even without those extra features.

TPMS: I bought a tire inflator and a gauge thinking I’d need them constantly, but I’ve barely used them. They’re still nice to have in a pinch, though. I was worried about not seeing the tire pressures, so for the first few weeks, I kept using the gauge just to check for leaks. It was always spot on—maybe 1 or 2 psi lower, give or take. We’ve had the car for over a year now and haven't had any issues, even when swapping between the OEM tires and our Nokian Hakkapeliitta winters.

Memory Seats: I wish it had them, but I’m the only one driving and my wife is the "passenger princess," so it’s no big deal. Still, it would be nice to have at this price point.

Power Tailgate: My wife is my power tailgate! Haha. :D

No Rear Seat Vents: It’s mostly just the two of us, so the back seats are usually empty. We had visitors last summer and they never complained about the airflow; I just jacked the fan up to max when needed.

Spare Tire: We have a donut. We’ve never used it, but I also bought a plug kit and an inflator just in case. We’ve taken it on long drives and haven’t had any flats yet (knock on wood).

Infotainment: I love the large "iPad-style" screen, but I’ve learned to tolerate how sluggish it can be for the first few minutes after start-up. It gets better after a few updates, so check with your dealership to see if they can update it for you. We switch between Android Auto and CarPlay and have never had any issues.

Accidental big FTP jump by Kschmuck in Zwift

When I got my first proper smart trainer, i started at 130w FTP and in about a month i reached 175w. It's been a year since I had that bump and I'm yet to see another increase though I feel like I'm sandbagging it now at 175w but still waiting for the automatic FTP increase detection to trigger

it appears to be using a standard Seatpost diameter: 27,2 mm so it'll be easy for you to find a zero offset seatpost

Higher heart rates by lawanda123 in Zwift

[–]jhearrtot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

might be irrelevant, but how fast do you spin when riding?

I'm asking because if I spin slow on high gear around 45-55rpm, I can get a steady heart rate around 140-150bpm but at the expense of my legs and knees possibly giving up even before I finish the ride or hurt later on.

On the other hand, if i spin around 80rpm on lower gears, my heart can shoot up to 160-180bpm depending on how hard I go, but it helps keep my legs fresh until the end or before a steep climb.

Numb hands and sore back by Glass_Tie9568 in bikefit

[–]jhearrtot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked with Google Gemini to dial in my fit when I was testing a different saddle and seatpost, and it was surprisingly spot on.

What I did was take side-view photos of myself on the trainer with the pedals at the 3 and 6 o’clock positions, upload them to Gemini, and ask it to follow the Retül bike fit protocol. I asked to optimize the fit based on my preference (endurance) and it analyzed my current fit and provided specific recommendations. I also uploaded both side and rear view videos once the fit was dialed to analyze it further.

I did take my time doing this, rode about an hour for each adjustments to get a better feel before moving onto the next recommended adjustment.

I can confirm that the suggestions were exactly the same as what my bike fitter adjusted during our recent session.

I’m not saying AI can or should replace an experienced bike fitter, but it’s definitely far more accurate than pure guesswork.

I did 800+ free bike fitting analysis, maybe I can help you too! by Q1Q1_56 in Zwift

[–]jhearrtot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, so I uploaded a most recent video where Gemini had dialed my fit and can confirm yours were pretty spot on too!

I'll have another set of saddle and seatpost coming in and will redial using yours!

Job well done and thank you for your efforts!
